Moosend has since removed the plugin for Wordpress. Can you make an updated tutorial for connecting Wordpress and Moosend without the plugin?

Wow, you're right. It only was removed a few days ago. It looks like it's under review, but until then, you could easily use a platform like Zapier or Pabbly to connect the two.
