When you get ground beef like that it usually has to be run through the meat grinder one more time to get it to the consistency you'd find in the store. Could be a reason it was so uncooperative.

Exactly, a large metal pizza peel with a HANDLE. Easy to find. It would work like a giant spatula. I was thinking that the whole time. Would have made it much easier to launch, flip and remove, AND help keep your hands out of the fire. The peel without a handle was too hard to handle.
