If you just know how to play, but do not understand music theory, and how 7, dim, add, sus, power chords (the 5th), work, and how to use them. Every time there is a 8-13 year olds playing an instrument very well, people say wow, you are talented, half of the adults that play the instrument are not even as good as you. Lyrics...
Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
No one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools" said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls"
And whispered in the sounds of silence

I just realized I've never commented here (as I never have before - not until JD's effort, excellence and dedication to music absolutely demanded it of me soon after this.) This was my 2nd dose of JD after an accidental listen to his "Dust in the Wind."...2 bars in on this?... I was hooked and couldn't hit "Subscribe" fast enough! (And I am a self professed music snob.)
My father was a peer of S&G. They had HUGE impact on his play. I grew up with all their music - as tho they set up shop in our living room daily.
Dislikes? Guaranteed "purists"... The reason Simon didn't write bass into this piece from the beginning is because he didn't play the harp guitar.😏... Perfection Jamie D.😘
That instrument is beautiful. it has the most well rounded sound. And it is wonderfully played. Bravo man!
could be the copious amounts of reverb added in post processing?
No doubt that helped. but I was thinking of the base notes - the full range of tones - that not even the best twelve string has.
MIchael Rigby dont get me wrong i do think its a beautiful song and well played on a lovely instrument. That reverb just seems a little too much, cant hear the subtle tones of the instrument
All the dislikes are just people that missed the like button because they were crying from the feeling of this incredible cover.
I absolutely live this rendition on this instrument"
That is a beast of an instrument... you could get a lot of different sounds out of that instrument which no ordinary guitar can produce. It sounds like he's playing a guitar and a piano at the same time by himself.
Just want to thank God for gifting us you and your music... It's a blessing.
*this puts anyone in a trance. like your soul is floating in another universe*
😍😍😍
Did ya smoke a joint ?
@@mikemadore8856 lmao 😂😂

What the? THESE EXIST??!!
As YOu Can see😂
Check out a theorbo.
Andy McKee is another good guitarist that plays these. Pretty sure he makes them as well. (Don’t quote me on that, though.)
It was so soothing to the mind and rilly .made me think it brought up old friends that I have not though about in years
Only out in the wild which is where I’m guessing he found and tamed this one
That was beautiful....thank you Jamie. More please.
Amazing is the only word that comes to mind, save for stunning
Great job, absolutely beautiful. 👏🏼
Simon and Garfunkel would be so honored by this young man's awesome rendition.
I searched "song of silience" on harp and this was one of the videos that came up. Wow your music is so beautiful.

That has to be one of the most bizarre and unwieldy instruments in existence. That being said, you can't argue with the results. The sound is succulent. 🧡 Thank you for sharing.
I always did love this song, and it sounds so beautiful on that instrument and the way you play it!👍🏼👍🏼

Jamie Dupius, can't stop from watching this video ... Even the setting, that you chose to perform the "Sound of Silence," is Perfect! I've been in the empty creek bottoms, under the pines many times... The Solutude!

That is nice! Beautiful. I’m normally a metal guy, but I can appreciate something unique with texture and range. I really cannot believe the number of dislikes on this.

Oh - sounds wonderful. I like these 3 different registers lot! The highest sounds quite a lot KANTELE (finnish lyra) - and the ambitus is so great!
