If you change the the a/c compressor without pulling a vacuum on the system the receiver/dryer should be change, if it has never been change since you had the truck then it's a must . When you have time ,have a shop put a recovery machine to pull out the freon, strain it, replace the dryer, then pull a vacuum, and recharge the system. You'll think your riding in a freezer.

You're better off fixing it yourself for sure. It's gives you satisfaction to get it done your self and to be able to keep the truck rolling. It's hard to get anything done in a shop in timely and satisfactory manner. With the way you go about your business,You are a positive ambassador for our profession sir!

Back in the stone age, 1970's and 80's and 90's when I drove my first two trucks did not have air conditioning, a 1974 F model Mack cabover, and then a 1977 International cabover. I loved the cornbinder, but it could be pretty hot in the summers in the southern states. Oh yeah, they did not have power steering either. When I bought my first brand new truck, a Int'l Cabover, it had a great air conditioner. Then I bought a new somewhat custom Freightliner Conventional at the Mid America Truck Show in Louisville, it had air and power steering. I thought I was driving a Cadillac!! Love your videos, I hope you stay safe and keep at it. This retired ol driver thanks you a lot. What is the plan with your Peterbilts at home? thanks again, retired ol ron.

It would probably be good if you could get yourself a stick thermometer to put in a vent closest to the evaporator should be 40 to 45 degrees remember that temperture is the same that's going into the compressor to cool it

At least all you've had is heat, up here in Atlantic Canada it's been non-stop rain coming up from the Gulf of Mexico all week and the firesmoke from Northern Quebec, not as bad as New York City, Toronto or Montreal though, but when you're a Diabetic, had a Heart Attack and have Bronchitis, it tough to go outside. Dan Dan the professional flat deck man. Not having air con is not a great way to truck, that’s for sure. I would feel proud also if I had fixed my air conditioning unit. You probably saved yourself a few hundred bucks. Better in your pocket than there’s. You sure do get around in a week. What I like about you is your a no nonsense kind of guy. Your videos are always about what your doing and nothing else. Suprise to see the Hi Teresa sign not up. You being gone so much makes it difficult for others. Anywho Dan, another top notch video. Have a great and a safe day. Happy trails and happy motoring..

Don't need those belly straps when they use the side poles. they double secure the poles like you said. i hauled them a few times, once you get use to the poles there , its a piece of cake. Flat bedders, were not use to new idea's.. lol

Awesome Dan! I’d commented on the last video that you should just stop at HF and get the pump and manifold and do it yourself. I was faced with the same problem on my 40’ diesel pusher RV. Watched a couple of YT vids and went to town. Bit of a guessing game on how much r-134 to put in with ~80’ of refrigerant lines! Cool old sign at the end. Bunks available.
