Hi there guys!!! I decided to re-upload this episode because there seems to have been a glitch in TH-cam. Anyway, for those of you who have already seen this, I'd really appreciate if you could watch it again just to help me rebuild the stats. And for those who are seeing this for the first time, I hope you enjoy!!! LIKE, COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE!!!
Jeez Chief... this request to "rebuild the stats" sounds so much like a girl who just got her boobs ENLARGED and butt LIFTED and now wants your compliments
Having experienced a fire while serving aboard a vessel; I can only pass on this piece of advice to those who now serve at sea. At times it may seem that drills can become mundane and boring, but take it from someone who experienced fire for real. All those drills gave us the skills and confidence to save ourselves and the vessel when the incident occurred.
chief macoi... gud day.. im not a seafarer or anything to do in a ship.. what i like in your vlogs and video are the story telling. i love the way you deliver the story. i know for a fact that all seafarers whos watching your videos are getting a lot of knowledge... im looking forward for for more videos and stories you will share for us.. as a token of appreciation my prayers for are the safety for you and all of all the seafarers around the world.. AMEN.
I found your channel, and have been watching it since the Evergiven first got stuck. I like the way you professionally talk through it. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
Another excellent video. Lowering the rescue boat looked like a fun ride down. I'm glad to hear the warning siren on the CO2 system as its deployment risks suffocation for those not wearing a breathing system. I've used a CO2 extinguisher and felt dizzy after putting out the fire because I didn't have enough ventilation. These are not toys. A request for the Chief to do a video on the various radio systems on the ship. Dedicated radio operators have largely disappeared, but there are many radios and RADAR systems on-board: 1. VHF/UHF radios both handheld and fixed 2. HF radios 3. NAVTEX and weather FAX 4. Satellite communications 5. Emergency beacons Which officer is responsible to be the radio operator? Does your ship keep a 24-hour watch on the emergency frequencies? Who is responsible for checking the communications power systems:( primary, backup and reserve source of energy)? Is there any internet/email service available while at sea? I didn't see a HF antenna on the lifeboat. Sailing the Indian Ocean, I'd feel better if it's available. Those of us on land are always on the internet with our devices. I think many people would go through serious mental issues if they had to live the life of a sailor. Remember, it was less than 100 years ago when the primary means of radio communications was Morse Code - a skill that I keep alive.
Another outstanding video Chief...thanks! The scariest words I ever heard at sea in the US Navy was when the OD announces “this is not a drill”. Everything and everybody jumps to 3X normal speed. Holy shit...!
I did my training at Fleetwood Nautical college England. You have inspired me for many years and I have followed you for years. The advice and help you give is second to none . I graduated 2 years ago and that's a massive thanks to you your an amazing person who is so calm and caring your wife and children are so so lucky that they have a dad a husband who makes so many of us do what we choose to do in life
Another superb and inspirational video. Training can never be overlooked, because in an emergency when the adrenaline is pumping, it is the repetitive experiences that teach us how to react when the mind may not be clear enough to think in the fog of disaster.
Chief. I really enjoy your vdos. I've been on many ships for fire training and the biggest problem I witness is a lack of knowledge. Often the training is poor and incorrect. Ask a firefighter what his warning whistle is for and 99% of the time they incorrectly belief it's a warning to get out. The quality of a seafarers education is down to the luck of who is delivering it. The quality of equipment often is minimum requirement or worse. Knowledge and understanding over guesswork and luck. Stay safe Chief. Your enthusiasm and content is most enjoyable.
Had not seen it before Chief, another good video. Thanks. I dread to think of one of these mega cruise ships with 6500 passengers trying to abandon ship!! Thanks again Rod
Chief - thanks very much for your informative videos. I look forward to pointing my future trainees to these excellent videos. Thanks to you for your hardwork, and to MTM and headowners for allowing you to film and upload these videos. Smooth seas and favorable winds.
Thank you Chief. It's so good to see the safety messages reinforced in this video. I always read the reports of the UK Marine Investigation Branch when they are published. The reports often contain observations that drills and safety training have not been done and safety equipment is not present or working properly because of the lack of drills, leading to fatal consequences for a member of the crew. Yes, the drills and training can be boring but being prepared when the worst happens and saving someone's life could never be boring. Any chance of a Man Overboard driil vlog please? Take care out there and be safe.
Those Immersion Suits sure are hot and are kinda difficult to get into. I had to do it 2 days ago! It was fun though however! Glad I got my STCW Course passed! I'm well on my way! Thanks for the inspiration Chief!
Aye, Cheng; you're taking me back. I was #1 nozzleman, primary attack-team for main-space fires. I still remember "Advance on one at a nozzleman's pace", in a squat; walking like a duck. Good stuff! You keep uploading; I'll keep watching. ❤
Great video, Chief! Drone footage and procedures, its all terrific. I especially liked your excellent commentary. Looking forward to the next one!!! Thanks again.
Pretty much everyone before being able to work onboard must have STCW(Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) certificate and then do drills onboard often to refresh their knowledge.
Wow! Very educational sir. My gratitude for making this video sir, very useful for the young generation of seafarers like me these days. You truly are an inspiration to us sir. :)
Another excellent video! I subscribe and am supposed to get notifications, but I didn't get anything from TH-cam on this one! I would have watched it immediately. You make these so interesting along with great photography and the type of background music. You ought to make films professionally. They're a real pleasure to watch and I look forward to them. Your family must love them. Imagine how wonderful it must be for them to be able to see what you're doing so far away from home. It's great! Thank you so much!! :) You can make the most mundane subject absolutely fascinating!!
Thank you for sharing interesting information for all of us who know how to value and know the sacrifice of being sailor and contribute to the world economy.
Another great informative and interesting video...especially for those who will never have the opportunity or privilege to serve on these majestic vessels! Nice job MAKOi, I look forward to your videos.
I recognize that ship! I used to live on the water and fish for a living a few years ago and seen your ship come by several times. Would've waved if I've come across this channel back then!
Rather like military training, the better you perform in training the better you perform in the real event and the more likely you are to survive the event.
Okay Chief, I did my Duty and watched it again, just to build up the stats. Gotta do my seafaring friend a favour 'cos he always uploads good stuff with philosophical thoughts at the ending.
Hi there. I was wondering if you could upload a photo from underneath the cargo cover which is designated for helipad of your ship. Is it the same structure - strength of the other covers? Asking as a helicopter pilot and understanding that specifications of your ship is not applying in other ships. Have calm seas and safe voyage. Greatings from Greece.
Hey Chief, where do you get the music from in your videos, do you have a playlist? I want to start uploading my time at sea but there's only copyrighted music that I can find. Thanks!
You have to make a TV program chief you are amazing this is the third video that i am wacthing and this is nice Very beautiful images . Loading master from santos Alex Rodrigues. Best regards.
Your videos are like a lallaby for me when I’m going to bed your voice is so calming and not like those high energy youtubers who say “they can help you go to sleep in 10 minutes” I haven’t heard any high energy moments from you yet and I hope it will stay like that but it might happen and I’ll still be a loyal subscriber
Intresting video! Do you eny longer have Viking rafts on board? For a few weeks ago I saw a sailing lady here on the tube let the viking dealers test her raft, self inflated, they did take it out controlled the raft, sifted out some of the emergency proviant and water. But they did not used the gas patroons for opend it up.....because it would take to mutch time to reload them....! How in earth ( or in sea) can they then be sure that the raft would open up when the string is pulled? ! I wonder if that is usual handing of the controll of the rafts. As I understand it those vessels shuld be controlled every year and the gas patroons is cared to hold and have its function for several years, this was some were in Panama. As usual Faire Winds BarbroSweden
Inflatable life rafts are still a requirement and they are sent for service maintenance on a regular basis. They are also automatically deployed by hydrostatic pressure release mechanism when the ship sinks around 4 meters.
Do you train at multiple locations for the fire drill incase you have to take over for someone? Also does your crew do all the commands for operation in English or your native language?

@@CMDRSweeper That's actually not as funny as it sounds if you ever been in that situation.

I bet launching one of those lifeboats the "regular" way is one hell of a ride.

Very well explained about the firefighting exercises, abandonment of the ship and familiarization of the task of each one aboard🚢👍

Doesn't the whistle mean that you should already be out? Correct me if I'm wrong I'm also a seafearer and would really appreciate it.
I spent 4 years on board a submarine, those drills can make the difference between life and death. Great video Chief
Very nice video chief, I did my cadetship on bulk carriers and enjoyed it. Now I am qualified 4th Engineer with Marella Cruises!
