    planning to get this receiver, Kindly confirm how the HDMI outputs works. do all three of them support HDMI 2.1, can you mirror on all of them, can you select different inputs to different outputs and when selected to different outputs, do they cap the bandwidth to 4K like what Denon, Onkyo, Marantz etc. does?

    Hi, I'm Italian and I write with the online translator. I also have a Sony A95K, I connected the PS5 to the dedicated game port and HDMI earc cable. To get the VRR function on the PS5 do I also have to enable the A95K's HDMI 3 earc port in VRR format?
    Thank you

    I had the A6A last year but I had to return it because it stopped working but nice to see they kept their promise. When lights hit the tv screen does it look purple? Is the A95K noticeable brighter then the A90J watching SDR content?

    • @mchambliss2
      @mchambliss2  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In certain content, the A95K is brighter, but it's not leaps and bounds brighter. In order to see the real difference, is to put both TVs side by side. If you have them in a separate room, it’s a good possibility you might not notice the difference.

    Thanks, Max, for the marvellous video!...QUESTION: How user-friendly is the Yamaha RX-A8A receiver GUI with the gaming and do all HDMI inputs support 2.1?

    • @mchambliss2

      The GUI is average, not the best or the worse of the user interface compared to Denon and Marantz. In regards to HDMI inputs, they all have HDMI 2.1 at 40Gbps of bandwidth.

    • @mchambliss2
      @mchambliss2  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The A95K is a great TV. I think it comes down to which is better. I would say this, if you value the best picture, A95K would the choice. When it comes to ootb picture settings, A95K would be great. If you like the google operating system, A95K would also be a better choice. The S95B is a well-rounded TV in value, gaming, and watching content. To be 100%, if I didn’t have the A90J, I would get the A95K without hesitation. Since I have the A90J, the A95K is better, but not by a huge margin when I made the comparison.

However, If the price difference come black Friday is big between the A95K and A90J, then will get the A90J 65inch again. Love that TV to bit, it games well both on my PS5 and Xbox Series X and movie watching is somthing else, couple that with D-Nice settings and it a dream combo.

    How many HDMI 2.1 inputs does this receiver have? Why does it say that your TV doesn’t support Dolby Vision?

    • @mchambliss2
      @mchambliss2  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Yamaha RX-A8A has 7 in/3 out HDMI 2.1. On any Sony TVs from 2021-2022, owners would have to switch the HDMI signal format from Dolby Vision to 4K120 with VRR. The owners can’t have both while playing games. Sony doesn’t support Dolby Vision at 4K/120. The only TV that supports it is LG. Going back to the screen, that’s why you see the red ❌ for Dolby Vision and Dolby Vision 4K/120. The only game that supports Dolby Vision gaming is Halo Infinite. Dolby Vision gaming is not needed at this time.

      @@thiagodelgado3128 I think the calibration on Denon/ Marantz is better. However, the calibration on the Yamaha has gotten better with each firmware update. • @mchambliss2
      @mchambliss2  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@midmassguy Hmm, I think the problem is with the A90J. In the A90J settings, HDMI signal format the description says that by enabling Enhanced format (VRR) -“only if your game console supports VRR. Picture mode is FIXED in GAME and some pictures settings are restricted.” When the TV recognizes that signal coming from the PS5 through the A8A back to the TV, the TV will switch the settings to Picture Mode (GAMING) only and the A90J can’t change picture mode unless you switch the HDMI signal format to either Enhanced format (Dolby Vision) or Enhanced format (4K 120 with no VRR). This is my biggest negative about the Sony 2021 and 2022 using mediatek because you will have to constantly go into the A90J settings and toggle the HDMI signal format. The TV doesn’t do it automatically. You might have to connect your PS5 to HDMI 4 and switch it to Enhanced VRR in the A90J HDMI format settings and leave that HDMI 4 as your dedicated port for PS5.

      From a Sony TV perspective, in the HDMI signal format, you can only choose Enhanced Dolby Vision, where you can only get Dolby Vision, not VRR, and games up to 4K/60. Enhanced VRR you can get 4K/120 with VRR but not Dolby Vision. For Sony TV you can’t select both options it’s either one or the other.
