John Haynie who taught at UNT for many years said that there was the "Big-four" in playing a brass instrument 1.Breath 2. Lips/Embouchure 3. Tongue 4. Finger coordination If you focus on those 4 things every day it becomes very easy to organize what you work on in your warm-ups and practice.
It's good to know that even legendary trumpet players do Clarke and Cicowicz like the rest of us :)
And probably still doesn't feel that he is doing it perfectly.
Yeah and they do it a million times more. So if you wanna be good , you gotta put in the time. Phil did. Doc did.
Thankyou for your sharing idle sir Philip Smith , Godbless
Dear friend Phil it's so wonderful to see you here. I had the honor of knowing you from Hanover and N. Haledon :) .
This is really good stuff!!!! I was surprised he didn’t mention interval studies but maybe it falls in one of the other categories?
Mr. Schilke & "Doc" Reinhardt BOTH advocated using the whoooo no tongue air attacks-this increases embouchure vibrating fluency
Thank you!
