  • The first interstellar object, named 'Oumuamua, was discovered in October 2017 by the Pan-STARRS 1 telescope in Hawaii. The object is of unknown origin and could be a comet or asteroid. However according to a recent paper by Dr. Avi Loeb of Harvard University and Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, it may possibly be an artificial alien light sail. We spoke to Dr. Loeb about that paper.

Perhaps it is highly magnetized and is acting like a magnetic sail, being decelerated by the deflection of charged particles from the solar wind.

FACT of GAS BONDING totally destroys Einstein's space Bending and Newton's mythical Gravity.
All downward falling motion begins when active rising gas molecules as an ENERGY FLOW becomes trapped gas molecules within the process of making solid objects with trapped ENERGY LOCK lifeless dead gas molecules, which as dead gas molecules can only fall downward. This is scientificly known as the mechanism of GAS BONDING, which take on a state of solid mass blocking out its electrons motion, it's fire power, thus becomes ENERGY LOCK lifeless gas molecules, and falls downward in real time, fallowing it's Electrons Unlimited Potential Velocity at the speed of light connects with the earth ENERGY CONSERVATION SYSTEM , establishing a downward falling path for trapped ENERGY LOCK lifeless dead gas molecules/solid objects only.
Equating the above FACT with the physical universe, same as Einstein's E = MC2 equates with the physical universe.
E = ENERGY = MM = MOLECULE MOTION = Molecules in motion within star flames earth gases birds and balloons plains and rocket's, even us humans rise from molecules in motion creating an ENERGY FLOW, the ruling force of the universe.
M = MASS = GB = GAS BONDING = Gas Bonding take on a state of solid mass blocking out its electrons motion, it's fire power, thus becomes ENERGY LOCK lifeless dead gas molecules, and falls downward in real time.
C2 = LIGHT SPEED = E = ELECTRONS = Electrons Unlimited Potential Velocity, at the speed of light connects with the earth ENERGY CONSERVATION SYSTEM, establishing a downward falling path for trapped ENERGY LOCK lifeless dead gas molecules/ solid objects only.
Gravity is a mythical concept that's mentally applied by Newton, solely to guarantee needed results to it's point of origin, the BRAIN !
      This they should've known !

The gravitational constant was quantified by the Cavendish experiment, an experiment that can be recreated in the industrial arts facility of almost any high school. You are asserting falsehoods that are readily falsifiable. You naively state crap on the assumption that it can't be checked, but just because you don't know how doesn't mean nobody knows how. Things falling are not the only measurable effects of gravity.

@@digitalnomad9985 - If the mechanism of GAS BONDING is a FACT, then there's no such thing as Gravity/Gravity constant. The above post GAS BONDING clearly explain how and why Newton's apple fell downward, apsent Gravity. The measurements of motion within Cavendish experiment is nothing more than atomic energy flow between objects that's free enough to visibly respond to such level of energy, energy that's exerted between them from atoms/electrons that's trapped within the molicules of solid objects . This work the same way with all trapped gas molecules, it's electrons will always reach out to the nearest strongest signal available. The experiment U mentioned that's done is schools, should they spot a light on either end of that hanging bar, it will come to life in motion, which is ENERGY FLOW. Try it ! Or U could hang a small object on a eighteen inch piece of thread, spot a light on there when motionless, it will come to life.

If gravitation and gas bonding are, as you say, mutually exclusive then gas bonding does not exist. Gravitation has been experimentally confirmed and explains not just why objects fall locally, but the motions of the planetary bodies. It is the basis of calculating the trajectories of space vehicles.

You guys should do regular updates with Dr Loeb if at all possible. I would love to hear what's going on with Star Shot and/or what's up in general. He really grounds my skepticism and gets me to review my biases in a unique way.
I tend to scoff at these kinds of theories, but he makes valid points from an open perspective. While I maintain my skepticism, I haven't heard someone so knowledgeable and authoritative propose these types of arguements in a plausible way that appears mostly independent of a confirmation bias. That's a powerful tool for creating change. I know Dr Loeb is a very busy man, but hey, if Brady Haran can pull off all that he does with so many of the awesome professors and professionals he manages to record on all of his different channels I imagine it is quite possible to find a way for this kind of content if one tries hard enough. Just look up all the recognition that has come from Brady's Periodic Videos channel. That channel was a major contributor to the Knighting of Professor Poliakoff. These kinds of channels are the mainstream media of the future and are quickly becoming the current defacto standard. I watch YT instead of traditional cable TV and many others are doing the same. This could just as easily become a great opportunity for Dr. Loeb just as much as it could be for the channel. This channel is ideal for such content and collaboration. This would push the boundaries on content depth and public exposure, while in my opinion, this channel's format and style is perfectly aligned to translate the typically verbose language of academia into something far more palatable and appealing to those of us with a more casual interest in these subjects.

From there I listened closely and if you do the same, the good Dr. adds just as much speculation and opinion as he does science about Oumuamua. He doesn't really treat the subject all that honestly in my opinion. Seems like he's stirring the pot by raising fantastical concepts about alien recon probes using camouflage and an emphasis on how we could have been able to find out if his project was already up and running (like a subtle invitation to invest in his project). Even when confronted about the flaws in his theory about the asteroid being a solar sail he redirects the attention to something else. Such as the fact that the thing is tumbling awkwardly with no set surface remaining consistently directed to the sun (which a light sail would need, just like how a sail boat positions the sail in a set position to catch the wind - a sail boat doesn't flap its sails in all directions and spin end over end). When confronted about the awkward trajectory he deflected to the possibility of either a "defunct piece of equipment" or a "form of camouflage ".
John Michael Godier is also one who subscribes to the idea of "it's never aliens until it is" mindset and I find it interesting that he didn't ask any questions of how a light sail could form naturally.

In which case we'd only be able to intercept its communications if we were right between it and wherever it was communicating with...

David, is it truly possible that no astronomer on Earth has considered such a possibility? ;) Going by the animation it is not on the ecliptic and does not appear to have been anywhere near any known planetary body when it accelerated. Perhaps we should look for a hidden planet in a highly irregular orbit around the sun though just to be sure... that's at least as crazy as aliens, actually maybe even more crazy. ;)

Thanks for the interview - I'd like the next layer of detail. Why, for example did Dr Loeb's analysis require the material to be thin - less than a mm? And what do we know about the mass of the object and its dimensions? And how? I think perhaps Dr Loeb is saying is that the solar wind is enough to account for the anomaly in the object's position if the object has a relatively low mass (and is therefore necessarily thin). I think estimates of its dimensions come from the variation in brightness. Do we know anything about its mass? And what can we say anything about its shape?

A huge Willy Wonka golden ticket light sail cruising through the Milky Way, containing an invitation or some type of computer we could interact with. Similar to our golden record in Voyager, but far more advanced. OR... It was a test. And right now alien ships are amassing behind Jupiter after determining that Earth will be an easy target after failing to recognize their reconnaissance probe as a potential threat . "These Ehhhrrrth-lings will make a crunch snack and their planet will fuel our rockets for decades!"

Ok so, there are a handful of events in our history that we can't explain completely. Examples are Oumuamua, the WOW signal, Tabby's star, and I'm sure others. What are the chances that we have missed identifying intelligent technologies outside of our solar system because we didn't have enough data? How many of these instances need to occur before we say wait a minute, something is trying to make its presence known?
