I watched the two Amtrak's joining. Here's the full story for those who weren't aware. The Southwest Chief originally arrived into Galesburg at 12:39pm. But after severe thunderstorms resulted in debris on the tracks between Galesburg and Princeton, the Southwest Chief was stuck in Galesburg. In the end it was announced by Amtrak that trains 4 (Southwest Chief) and 6 (California Zephyr) were to merge at Galesburg. Unfortunately though, the California Zephyr was also heavily delayed. The Southwest Chief ended up waiting at Galesburg for around seven hours before the California Zephyr would finally turn up. Then the operation seen in this video starts here. Once the combined train was finally ready to leave, it headed down to the Cameron connection to join the Chillicothe Subdivision on it's way to Chicago. In other news, the weather that day was wild. McDonough and Fulton Counties which are relatively close to Galesburg (which is in Knox County), experienced intense thunderstorms and at one point there was even a tornado on the ground. So yeah, what a night this was! In case anyone asks in future how many people watched the stream at its peak? I can't remember exactly how much, but while I was watching it was way higher than I'd ever known Galesburg and the highest I've seen any VRF cam for a long time. It wasn't quite 2,000 when I departed the stream, but it was close to that. Might even be a Galesburg record unless someone can prove otherwise.

Hi, that was a fantastic watch and thoroughly enjoyed whilst relaxing at home. Tomorrow is my last last day at work and since it is a Public Holiday, I am retired as of now. Can't wait for it. Thanks for posting, especially the two Cabs, the two Steam Locos and the first(?) tourist at the Curve.

Always great to see the trains passing on through the countryside and the valleys and through the cities and towns and along the deserts and oceans, hearing the whistle blowing to let you know that they are on their way and those certain characters who put their lives in their own hands when they illegally walk or drive on across the tracks thinking they are invincible and you hope that they are invincible because you don't want see them squashed but they however immortalized on video via the security cameras but don't let that get to you just enjoy the trains passing on through the countryside and the valleys and onward and beyond so have a good day and great night watching the trains have fun, Uh sorry for rambling but that's what I seem to best g'night y'all.
A little piece of trivia; that N&W M Class had a sister locomotive,that was not only a 4-8-0,it was numbered 480! Pity it was scrapped,would have been nice to have matching wheel arrangements,and numbers! Several other railroads had similar situations! Reading rosters is good exercise for the mind and 👁 eye! The wide vision caboose is an obvious ex Canadian National one, and the other is an ex Santa Fe Ce-9 (a class of 39 cabooses made in 1978 by upgrading some from the Ce-3 and Ce-5 classes) that's had a few modifications done.

How many engines can be put at the front of a train? There has to be a limit on how much weight a set of engines at the front of a train can pull. You can put 10 engines at the front of a train, but the couplings between cars are not indestructible. They will break if too much stress is applied. The solution to this problem is the helper engines in the middle and rear of the train

Jeff I think there are some genetic variants to the red fox. Last year I had a lower to the ground black tinged fox maybe a female. A week ago a different one came by super tall super big ears that I had to study for a second too. Thought at first I now have a Coyote coming by ...though when I was teenager we had one in the near neighborhood which was tagged and monitored. I have outdoors cameras. I live in a city around 300,000. Thanks

Last night LaGrange got some VERY nasty weather. The county tornado siren system activated at about 5:30 pm. The sirens are right behind the cameras.
