Glad to see that your body doesn't mind you riding with your wrists/hands positioned above your elbows. I'm at an age where my arms will get numb on long hauls, if my wrists/hands ware elevated above their elbows. Rubber side down, Kemosabe.
@mr.solitude3352 Sorry to hear that. I'm lucky that I appear to be completely unaffected. I can ride for hours, no problem. Have to admit it was a concern before I installed the mini apes.
I just fitted 10 inch mini apes to my Scout at the weekend, swapped them out for low wide drag bars that the previous owner had fitted, competely changed the bike and the ride is 1000% better now.
Looks awesome! I rode a triumph bobber 1200 with ape hangers and it enhanced the ride greatly. Otherwise i was hunched up and had back pain after a short period
The road warrior screen would look amazing on that bike and maintain that sporty look , the good part about the road warrior , you can switch screen sizes instantly .
Very nice looking bars. The Dark Horse is just between the Sport and the Bobber and you went to the Bobber direction. You can add the extended reach seat to get more room for your legs
I do find the forward controls comfortable and they're not out of the question but a new seat and possibly more wind protection are a higher priority for now.
I sat on a scout and a scout rouge, the higher bars made a huge difference in my decision…. Definitely buying the scout rouge👍 hope it’s much more comfortable for you👍
I think that it looks sharp with the screen. The taller bars look really good! Hopefully you'll travel with more comfort. Installing it all myself? Nah.... going to pay the pros for that!!!
Nice one! Normally I don't like ape handers. I'm like you they have to be in line with the forks! 👌Look spot on for your reach. Be good to see the upcoming ride trial!! The screen makes it look more matched to the "gap" I recon. Thanks for showing.
If you go to www.indianmotorcycle.com/en-us/parts/ and enter the part no. of your extended cables into the search bar at the top of the screen, you'll be taken to a page where you can download a pdf of full install instructions.
Really like the tall bars-they suit the look of the Chief DH. Agree that the screen looks too small, but as someone suggested in an earlier comment, ride it before you decide on a screen.
I can picture the drag handlebars looking nice on it, but I'm a big fan of the movie Harley-Davidson and the Marlboro Man. I must have seen that movie 20 times when I was in my 20's.
Looks good I would take it for a ride first before I buy a bigger screen big is not always better, the smaller screen on my KTM690 is more affective than the larger screen on my Harley Lowrider st
For sure, a larger screen is many months away, I'd like to go screenless for a while. I'd say a new seat will be on the list before a screen. Test ride tomorrow!
I'll be honest Paul I'd be surprised if you find it comfortable especially on rides over two hours. I will also add your body shape is so different than mine so it might work for you while I'd be fighting to stay on with my hands falling asleep. I'll tune in for the ride because we all learn something.
Hi Paul. So are these 12” or 14” Indian apes … and have you retained the stock Indian CDH 4” risers? I’m basically asking at what height have these bars now ended up at the grips from the top of the trees? I don’t hate the way your bike currently looks, but I personally think it would look better with smaller apes, or no apes at all and just more pullback through a riser plate or pullback drag/low rise bars? I’m 6ft and detest the current bar / lean set up on my CDH. The stock bars have me leaning forwards so much that it’s just too uncomfortable to ride it like that. I’m looking for either 8” or 10” max apes, or maybe some sort of 2-2.5” pullback riser plate to sit the 4” stock risers on top of. If I can find a suitable 2-2.5” pullback plate, then I may not require mini-apes at all. I’ve looked at hundreds of bars, but none have any decent amount of pullback without being far too wide or looking hideous. Interested to see the results of your test ride tomorrow. Good luck!
These bars are the Indian Mini Apes. They have an 8" rise but are about 10" high overall. I've kept the stock CDH risers as the display mounting is built into the top clamp of the risers. Believe me I had a good look around. I did try the Chief Bobber's smaller apes but found that lower the bars, the more I'm reaching. Dean Speed have a nice set of risers that come up and then angle back toward the rider. Using the stock drag bars on these risers I thought would be a nice setup. They're called Pic-Rail Risers but they're not cheap, also I'm not sure how you'd mount the display with these risers. For me, these mini apes are a cost effective altrernative that feel like they're going to be really comfortable. TIme will tell though.
Love the bike however not a fan of the high style ape bars. Of course, I'm not the one fortunate enough to ride an Indian so it is always what suits the owner. Agree that bent over forward with the original bars isn't ideal. Shame there wasn't something in between so that you could still ride upright. I would imagine that wherever you go, this bike will attract plenty of envious comments.
They do have the lower option that comes with the Chief Bobber, but I found I was reaching too much with those. The lower they get, the further they are away for me.
You have done an excellent job installing the new bars but I think they look too tall for the bike and will prove to be uncomfortable, your body will be like a sail in the wind. I think a set of bars with a lower rise and more sweep back would have been better looking and more practical. Sorry!
I feel like a sail in the wind with the stock bars too but the screen I have installed completely eliminates that, it should do a good job with the new higher bars as well. You're right, if I could've found a set of bars as you described for the Chief that would've been ideal. But for now, these bars feel really comfortable. Long term test rides will be the real key though.
Thank you so much for showing us Chief owners different ways to build a bike. Looks great, love your content!
Thanks Luke!
Looks really good!
As you said yourself, the larger screen will probably work better, but imo the smaller screen is nicer than no screen.
Ok cool, thanks for the feedback Alex.
Glad to see that your body doesn't mind you riding with your wrists/hands positioned above your elbows. I'm at an age where my arms will get numb on long hauls, if my wrists/hands ware elevated above their elbows. Rubber side down, Kemosabe.
I may be the same! I haven't had bars this high before, a longer ride will be the true test. I'll report my findings. ;)
@@BikesILikewhat were your findings? Arms go numb when wrists are above elbows?
@mr.solitude3352 Sorry to hear that. I'm lucky that I appear to be completely unaffected. I can ride for hours, no problem. Have to admit it was a concern before I installed the mini apes.
@itagthewind All good! I'm lucky, I appear to be unaffected. I can ride for hours with this set up.

I would have to agree!
I put one on mine. 17 inch screen.
same as mine --- no Stand light when stand is down 😞
Very nice looking bars.

Smart decision :)

How did you get the tank off to connect the longer cables?
If you go to www.indianmotorcycle.com/en-us/parts/ and enter the part no. of your extended cables into the search bar at the top of the screen, you'll be taken to a page where you can download a pdf of full install instructions.
Brilliant content thank you for the hard work bringing us a show to watch and enjoy.
Thanks for watching!

Cheers Guy! Yep I agree.

Looks better with the screen IMHO.

Good change over Paul ,1or2week review on it be interesting 👍👍
Will definitely do a longer term review Higgo.
Aww, that’s what was missing. Very nice!
Glad you like it!

The longer rides will be the true test Jerry. I'm reserving judgement for now, let's see how it goes!
I put mini apes on my Scout. I had such a better riding position after that.
Man, i love these bars!! Bad ass looking motorcycle!
Cheers Roger!
Looks pretty good Paul. Test that screen out first before changing it out mate. Looks good with/without tyhe screen mate. Good job brother. Cheers.
For sure, cheers Andy!
@@BikesILike hi mate are you doing today mate are you coming down to Indian motorcycles dealership tomorrow on Wednesday from Holden man tc
Great job! Thats how they should come STOCK 😎
I think they look awesome Paul, really really nice.😊😊😊😊😊🇬🇧👍🏻still awesome with the screen.👍🏻
Ok cool! Thanks Gaz.
Thank you
Beautiful Bike Brother Those Ape Hangers Look Nice on that Indian.
Brave man. They look ok, but they must really impact the handling & overall riding experience😬
I'm reserving my judgement but tomorrow will be the test!
Great job.
Cheers!

Hmmm... not for me, but it's your bike and your choice. 👍😉
That's my motto too Bob ;)
Looking killer good job 👍 👍👍

How tall are you?
I'm 6'1" (185 cm)

I think if you got your legs lower and forward youd be in the seat more and not perched.
Yep, forward controls are not out of the question but I want to do a new seat first. I'll know better once I've put a few hours on the bike.
You have done an excellent job installing the new bars but I think they look too tall for the bike and will prove to be uncomfortable, your body will be like a sail in the wind. I think a set of bars with a lower rise and more sweep back would have been better looking and more practical. Sorry!

There's no need to hit the gyms and workout those shoulder. Long ride will be nightmare. Jk😅as always ❤
😁
I think you are compromising ergonomics for looks. But its your body.
This instantly feels more comfortable than the stock bars setup but the true test will be long term usage, I will report my findings.
thats ruined that then ;;
