"What happens if you don't read the book?"
The cutscene will still play out. As you walk away, the vine will catch you regardless! Solis' dialogue slightly changes to address this but the monologue is still pretty much the same.
"What object is solis in the light world?"
Solis is a glass sundial!
"What is Solis' bigger form called?"
Solis' new form is called Golden Hour.
"What is Solis' Light World equivalent and soul mode?"
Solis' Light World equivalent is Muffet, and sometimes Asgore. Muffet enjoys visiting Asgore's garden for lunch every day and finds comfort sitting under an old, rusty sundial. Muffet and Asgore also adore tea, which Solis loves too!
Solis' soul mode is Perseverance (Purple).
"Why did Solis explode? Did he use the power of the Save Point to transform?"
Solis touched the Save Point, which had such an overwhelming amount of light energy that it destroyed his body. Light energy for Darkners (in this hypothetical world) can give them power, but is fatal if not unabsorbed. Solis will die if he stays in this state, essentially racing against the clock to get Kris' soul and absorb its power to stay alive.
"Who is Ramsley?"
Solis' partner from back in the day! They unofficially broke up given Solis ran off and never returned. Ramsley is a shopkeeper. Will I make his shop? Not sure.
"Will there be more Solis content?"
Unsure. There is one more guaranteed video that will be posted, but after that, I'm not sure if there will be more.

My personal favorite part of this is Susie’s and Ralsei’s reaction. Susie immediately shows why more concern over Kris and becomes perfectly blunt . She notices “Kris” always goes to the secret bosses and she’s tired of it to the point where she’s creeped out. While Ralsei avoids mentioning the secret boss and plays it down like “oh this isn’t important” just like after Spamton NEO. This time Susie calls him out for just pretending this is not freaky and not something they should worry about. It feels in character and this is by far my favorite part
You know what I just realized?
Solis is a sundial. Sundials tell the time with the sun, which is a star.
Solis observes the save point, (also a star) in order to go back and unsee what they saw from the shadow crystal.
Both depend on a star in order to do the things they do.
Coincidence? Idk maybe that’s a stretch but it’s just my theory.

kris's sprites when resisting giving up the soul was genuinely so chilling, everything about that scene was so freaky. this dark world looks so beautiful too, and all the animations here are so smooth omg this is amazing
The worst part is that "cannonically" speaking,
Kris WANTS their(our) soul removed and be free from the Player's control.
So if anything, this shows just how dire Kris's "vessel" predicament is, or just how strong WE are.

@@kinglyzebra6417 Actually i think it's that without the soul. Kris is unable to seal any fountains. There for. He has to be responsible to protect it no matter what. Because what if Susie or anyone else ends up in a dark world on their own? Kris appears to be the only one with such a soul. Which means if anyone else ends up in a dark world. Pretty sure they are just trapped there until Kris comes along or they find another way out. And thus. Without the soul. A dark fountain could possibly reside and doom the entire world and everyone he cares about. (Also just referring Kris as a him for simplicity reasons.)
(And yes people can end up in a dark world with out Kris being there at first. Because that is shown in Chapter 2 when Noelle and Berdly head into a dark world with out Kris being there. So if Kris didn't show up they were likely trapped there for eternity.)
I just realised Solis' speech quirk is using 00:00 instead of just o because they're a sundial (an object that keeps track of time) who wants to go back to the start
I just realized the dialog gimmick, given what was said in the community tab, Solis is a sundial, a clock, stuck at midnight in the middle of the dark.
The way the dark echo flowers have Muffet speaking from them makes this more sad for Solis. They are literally the example of Muffet's struggles, like how it was theorized by game theory that Jevil was the manifestation of Kris's childhood.
Ramsley is then more than likely a stand in for Asgore, since Ramsley and Solis seemed to have a similarly close relationship before the incident.
I can imagine that Solis would actually tamper with your save files to NOT let you savescum out of the fight. Like, each reset means you just restart the whole fight.
So far so these secret bosses (the cannon ones and this one) share one thing in common, control. Specifically co trip over one's life. Insanity overcame Jevil and he was trapped in his cage which he refuses to call a cage. Spamton is literally controlled by strings and this fellow seems to have lost himself in these crystals and wants his life back. He directly confronts Kris about their main problem, control of their own life. I feel like Kris keeps recreating these situations, these characters revolving around having no control over their lives. Kris keeps coming back to this place. They keep putting themselves through this to process their feelings better but it only makes them worse.
This is so awesome! I love the idea of a secret boss wanting the SOUL so they can have the SAVE points, rather than just being in it for the SOUL itself. The way they want to go back and just be rid of this horrid information. And the scene of them trying to take the SOUL was so cool! Do you have to hold to the left there? That'd be really neat.
Ok that "Time flies when you're having fun." pun was pretty good ngl.

I’m guessing this fight uses the purple soul, from the Muffet references earlier on in the cutscene, and the concept of being trapped (as the purple soul mode is called “Trap Mode”)
Also, the purple notebook reminded me of the purple human soul (perseverance) from Undertale, since they also used a notebook.

I really enjoy Solis backstory, especially the romantic element that I didn’t see coming at all. I was going to say that we probably got too much backstory before the fight… But then I talked myself out of that criticism because understood why you did it: To show the “player” the motive for why Solis wants to reverse time and use the save points. This is supposed to be a later chapter like chapter 5/6 right? By that point in the story I don’t mind that the elements of secret bosses are being played with, in fact I hope Toby starts changing up the secret boss formula in a similar way. I don’t want the secret bosses to be formulaic and I like how you added elements like the save points and the character motivation driven by loss in order to keep your take fresh.
yea, another reason theres an overabundance of backstory is: i just dont have the time to develop it more through more videos. i kinda had to work with what i had to get the motives across. like with deltarune in general, a lot of the story is told through the world building, which i cant do since im just one guy who made this in a video editor and not coding ^^". so i tried my best to make this as digestible and understandable as possible, even if that meant lore dump. but hey, thats kinda just in solis' nature to talk literally and overexplain (its how i talk as well).
had i had the resources and time, the pacing and writing would have been a bit more flexible and less overwhelming. its very reassuring to know some people like the way it is though! :]

Lemme just say the introduction cutscene was awesome with Solis’s eyes appearing through the crystal’s reflection and how they looked at Kris with a cool maniacal laugh, a solid 10/10 on my cool awesome intro scale
This honestly caught me off guard with how high quality every sprite and bit of animation is, especially when Kris resists getting their soul taken. Fantastic job!

I really loved this video! I really like the concept. It’s giving more ideas that shadow crystals do more than what we think… it also feels very epic/overpowering like Solis’s voice for example when he transforms into that…thing it feels so… dominant. Also question will you create a boss theme for Solis? Or a boss fight will be cool I don’t care either way but… one of my favorite secret boss concepts in a while. Hope you expand on this!

A bit more of a Unique... Chapter 3 Shadow Crystal Holder (I think, watching this first time), i like it!
Looking at the setting of the dark world of this animation, I think this could be setting between chapter 4 or 5
and more for the detail that knows more than jevil and spamton
It could happen in asgore's house perfectly with the door closed that they theorize that there is a dark world over there, and I like the details that your boss concept is a crystal type with plant powers with a taste of tea
I imagine that in the weird route, we fight with him, either being alone or with asgore

It is the most interesting and so good animation that I have seen
I think this could be setting at Chapter 6.
We know that Chapter 4 is probably going to be the church route thanks to the week theory (Chapter 4 would take place on a Sunday) and the chess theory (Bishop). Also since Rudy is going to the church tomorrow (saturday via week theory) as we are stuck in the TV world or whatever it is named in Chapter 3 Rudy and maybe Noelle could get stuck in the Church world.
Then there's chapter 5 which I am guessing will be QC's Diner because I doubt they will do Catti and Jockington that late in the game so since we know what chapter 4 will be then chapter 5 will probably the earliest that they will appear.
That leaves us with Chapter 6 and 7 left and since 7 will be the last chapter I doubt that Asgore's Garden will be in the last chapter. Plus since Solis is the secret boss in this AU it just cements that this will probably be Chapter 6 instead of 7 for obvious reasons.
Also it would be fitting that the last dark world we visit before going to the Knight's dark world would be in Asgore's room just like in Undertale's neutral/pacifist routes were you fight Asgore before fighting against the final boss
Gaster is the egg behind the tree.
I mean the Gaster pieces in Undertale followers hold are kind of shaped like an egg… coincidence? I think not!

Not sure how I feel about an in-game character mentioning the power of the save star, considering it seems to be above the world much more than determination and its SAVE points are in Undertale, but I do really like the narrative connection between Kris/the player abusing the power to go back, while Solas is stuck permanently having seen the shadow crystal.
oh boy, my theory brain has awoken.
i haven't seen anyone talk about this but it seems to be heavily implied that Solis has seen the consequences of some other timelines/resets/saves, and this at a glance may have been temporary, but it appears to have completely altered their perception of others and the way time works, to the point where they act like they know other timelines they probably wouldn't have been able to see with the crystal in that moment. Unless the crystal acted less like a window and more like a crack in a gate, instead of allowing them to see alternate versions of the place in front of and around them, it allowed them to see every timeline in every place (within their darkworld) ever, which would explain why they seem to have knowledge of things that haven't happened yet or didn't happen in this timeline.
I'm genuinely really curious to know the limits of what they saw, and if it effected them in more than a psychological way, such as them permanently gaining the ability to see other timelines but having no control of when they do, which would explain their knowledge of things long after their initial peek. or maybe they just remember resets/reloads like what they were doing before the timeline jumped back every time Kris dies in battle.
I'm just spitballing here. it's really cool as a device in a backstory regardless of how it functions.

@@SullivanBarsanti Solis doesn't rlly care if u read the book or not, he just wants to get you in position to capture u with vines. a super funny thing abt him is, he used reverse psychology on u in the shop so you'd get curious and travel down to snoop in his diary LMAO, so his alt dialogue would be like "why did you like. come down here and not read it. huh???"

This character talks like a homestuck character rather than an unsertale one.
the likely reason why is because their typing quirk resembles a 4 digit 7 segment display, which are commonly made with LCD (liquid crystal display) technology, which seems to be what this character is the dark form of.
