The nso online apps never have matchmaking for nes or Snes, so when they said online, it was likely only friends Only time it would have it if they sold it as a separate app as a remake of sort
@Rurouni Kenshin not really, you're probably too young to know the type of cult following this game has. The source version came out 15+ years ago and there are always people playing in those servers. It's like the original Halo... people still play it on xlink kai.
Apparently the Xbox version has NO multiplayer at all besides locally, so at least we got that on Switch, but no matchmaking on either version is a huge downer.
Not too fussed about matchmaking as I want to play with my friends. But I'm more dissappointed that they kept the other player screens visible, now that the game is playable online.
Wow I thought there was match making. You could always play online since the start when Snes and nes were first added. Like you can co-op ocarina if you want. But nintendo for some reason didn't advertise this. Like if you are in an online session with someone playing OOT And you get stuck somewhere u can u can put another person in control of the same session so they can play
Wait what? Two player Ocarina of Time? Is this really a thing? Thanks in advance. I'll look it up now but in case I don't find what I need to, please let me know.

Yeah and i found out what the reason for that is when you play it overseas its very laggy with out them fixing that matchmaking would be a laggy mess anyways. luke
I take it you're using the n64 controller? Cuz you didn't explain how to set up switch controls for each player to be more modern and work better on the switch pro controller.
Can someone explain to me why my controller remappings don’t apply to multiplayer? I already know how to remap the controller, but can anyone walk me through how to switch to Solitaire mode in multiplayer
Does anyone know if it's possible to play this in a local split screen / online combination? So for example, me + my daughter at my house, my brother + his son at his house, and play 4 player online 2+2? Or is the only way to play 4 player essentially 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1 on four separate Switches & accounts? I believe Mario Kart 64 & F-Zero X are (sadly) like this, I assume Goldeneye is the same?
It's the same online setup as any other NES, SNES, Genesis, N64 game on NSO. So yeah, unfortunately only one person per system can play online. It's just the way Nintendo setup their online service for the retro games.
@@toddkronenberg4126 Yeah, I thought that would be the case, but thought there might just be a nugget of hope. I'm distinctly less excited about it than I was since I realised this. 🤓
@@bobbys8966 yeah definitely a huge let down that it doesn't have you know just general online play with matchmaking and multiple people on the same system online.
Thes made me sad it means if they ever make conker bad fur day online multiplayer without matchmaking not all my friends have expansion packs heck some only play fornite and free stuff can’t even buy regular online
Can you play with friends from different regions? For example I have the Japanese version of the game while my friends have the EU version. Would that still work?
Why the fccck is there a split screen when it’s absolutely unnecessary? It’s called online multiplayer, meaning the other person isn’t in the room. Another ball dropped!
Nintendo is so ridiculously bad at online gaming I just can't comprehend it. They're missing out on so much by being so stubborn. The model has been made for 20+ years and they still don't implement it.
Yeah true. I mean its awesome they have online play to all the retro games, and I think for one player games you can even do it by like switching off who is playing online or something like that, but for multiplayer games like Fzero, Mario Kart, GoldenEye, etc they should have built in a matchmaking service to the retro games platform. At the very least they should have decided to build and launch matchmaking for retro games to coincide with GoldenEye's launch because matchmaking with GoldenEye literally could have brought in millions more people to their Expansion Pack membership. Now there are just millions of disappointed people lol.
@Todd Kronenberg even if they did the matchmaking and menus right, they're p2p is just awful lol horrible connections across the board its borderline unplayable. But that's what I was getting at, if they put that effort into establishing a competent online service, they could actually hold a candle to pc/xbox/ps5 because their nostalgia factor will get EVERYONE to buy their services
@@GoDLiKe211 Yeah they definitely need to invest more in their online infrastructure. There is no reason to not have a robust online infrastructure at this point. I remember a year or two ago they said they were planning on doing that. Don't know if they've actually started that build-out yet or not. I've only once experienced any issues with online play, so in general their connections have seemed fine to me, though I do hear other people like you having problems, and actually I only rarely get to play online because I use an AT&T mobile hotspot which restricts the type of NAT type you need to do the p2p gaming on the Switch, so I can't even play online (other than stuff like Pacman99 and Tetris99) except when I'm at someone's house. I was hoping the NSO games online would not be the same p2p connections as Switch games are, but I haven't test it out yet, definitely plan to test it out soon with GoldenEye. If its the same connections and GoldenEye doesn't work I may just need to get Starlink internet so I can play online finally haha. But yeah, agreed that Nintendo is still very behind the ball in its online stuff and that sucks. Better online infrastructure and matchmaking on the retro multiplayer games would make Switch's online subscription wayyyy more popular, especially now with GoldenEye available.
U figure theyd improve the game by removing screenpeaking from online bcus ur not playing with someone beside u but its ONLINE? No wonder nintendos been losing the console wars
The sad thing is all the issues people are mentioning in the comments could be fixed in 2 minutes by a bored programmer that just does the shit to pass the time
I thought you could play with anyone online around the world, and why would they put the split screen if your playing online with a friend? Not to mention that the controls is a disaster. So disappointed

But yet so many people think the switch has it. Lol

Give 007 the respect that it deserves... out of ANY multi-player online game- this is the OG ... so treat it as such
Thank you! Was simple but I was one of those that didn’t know how to do this.
Glad I could help!

Uggghhh I thought they would make individual player screens! Huge missed opportunity. Still gonna play the heck out of it with family and friends!
Any way to play 4 or even more characters full screen each? Are the scenarios available also and weapons since the beggining?
Very sad that they didnt add at least simple matchmaking for this. The whole release is pretty pointless in its current state.
