X, is just a game a lot of Xenoblade fans need to play. As it draws some inspiration from Gears and Saga. The world is amazing, and that soundtrack is great.
X story is that multiple ships escape the destruction of Earth by aliens. The LA ship is attacked and crash lands in this new world. New LA city is that ship.
I know this title is a bit divisive, but personally I think it's the best in the series by far. A big part of the game is gradually building the main city into a better place, and expanding the colony's sphere of influence. It looks fairly barebones at the start, but it becomes a proper home by the end. More than the other Xenoblade games this one wants you to focus more on helping out by picking up quests from everyone rather than just focusing the main story. Your movement is a lot better than the other games too, even without the mechs. It's very exploration focused. I'm excited to see what updates they've made, and especially the new story content.
X’s strength is exploration. Besides a couple story objectives that lock you into specific areas, there are no invisible walls. Areas you aren’t supposed to access yet are usually out of reach or have a high level enemy guarding the intended path. You can climb cliffs like in Skyrim or run past the guard and hope you don’t die. It is really fun if you like trying to break the game to get to new places early. To top it off, you have infinite sprint. Imagine playing the other Xenoblade games except you can run twice as fast and then you get vehicles later to move faster.
Being as VAUGE AS POSSIBLE: the beach scene is teasing the new story content that will pick up from the massive cliff hanger at the end of the original X.
The guys at Nintendo are masters in putting story spoilers in their trailers (the final cutscene) At the start, none of the games was connected to the others. But the Xenoblade 3 dlc changed it all. So it's better to wait since they for sure have changed some things. The game is great -, it's all about exploration.
That ending scene is a teaser for New content the hooded figure isnt in the original game. Its kind of got its own style but it plays alot like 1. Also you like the mystical landscapes this game has a ton of it.

as with most people here, i fucking love Xenoblade, i have said for a decade now that Xenoblade Chronicles 1 is the greatest story humanity has ever written. all 3 mainline games are amazing works of art with such incredible in depth story. that being said, personally, X is by far my favorite in the series. the world, exploration and characters are so much grander. while the MAIN story is no as compelling as the rest of the titles, if you do all the side content the game is a deep dive into the human condition and how humans react to an impossible situation. The character development through the affinity quests is incredible. While X may not have the same party dynamic withe affinity, as in the party is like a family, the INDIVIDUAL character development about there own lives jobs and feelings is absolutely amazing. X is designed as an open world game all about freedom, not meant to be linear and following the main story. X is a masterpiece.
As of today, it does not fit. The only thing we get from it is a small reference in Future Redeemed but most of those references were Xenogears (Philadelphia class spaceship) and Xenosaga (all the Vector Industries logos, Dimitri Yuriev, etc)
@@killerking2346Earthlife Colonization Project is another X reference. Not to mention the fact that both “Project Exodus” and “Earthlife Colonization Project” are terms found only in the western release of X, so they brought both names back for Future Redeemed. This is despite the fact that the JP version only uses one name for both X and FR.
I hope our character gets a better treatment in this definitive edition... Personally, I did not appreciate being treated like a sidekick in the main story ! >:(
The Main Story for the original X is... not great, it's pretty infamously the worst main story of the entire series, and there's a lot of reasons for that, but as for whether or not it fits into the timeline. That's been debated for a long time now, most people tend to say that the game doesn't fit, but if you do the sidequests, talk to the npcs, and read into X's MASSIVE sums of lore--it becomes pretty clear that what the answer actually is. Additionally, this trailer for the Switch version has some clues as to the new story content they'll be adding, which seems to just be setting up a main story confirmation as to where the game sits in the continuity... That being said, the actual answer should be something you experience yourself. Additionally, the sidequests for X, even outside of just the legendary lore for this game, are absolutely phenomenal, so much so that most people tend to say the Sidequests are the real main story of X.
One of the things that bothered me a lot about the story, is that we are supposed to find the ship before the lives run out, but you can't progress a story without completing so many unrelated things. I found it odd, and made my exploration not feel as fun as i was forced to do it, and if i was missing the smallest percent, it was mind numbing finding what would boost the percent enough.
@@artdc79 I would say so. Xc1 has a crazy revenge story, xc2 has amazing villains and story, xc3 has a stellar story, best main cast. Xcx kinda isn't the best in a lot of ways
The main series is mediocre compared to X. To me, Xenogears and Xenosaga are the foundation for X's lore and the other games are dumbed down, more digestible versions of some of the concepts in these 3.
