me: switches between expensive lures every few casts out of paranoia that I don't have the specific one they're after NDYakAngler: "hey guys so today I've got on a lego death star, it's the only lure I brought but thankfully they loved it"
Another great episode. I find it interesting that you never see anyone else fishing in the background of these videos. Every place he fishes he has to himself.
Always love your vids. Perfect way to relax, and the timing is just right to watch, relax, and get ready for work. It's gonna be a great day. Thank you matt.
I’ve learned after 46 years of Top water plugging that it’s more color, rhythm and cadence than anything else that gets a bass to strike. I’ve always called Smally’s the crackheads of bass because in California deep lakes they like shiny flashy plugs.
I am getting a kayak next year because of your vids. Excited to learn and get on some fish. I know it can be frustrating but the highs look like paradise
that river looks so beautiful i wish i could fish there anyway keep up the good work i also really wish i could live by those waters and just walk there early in the morning and start fishing
Absolutely one of your finest days on the river. Fun to join you, thanks for bringing us along. Can't believe how no one else is ever on your waters, are you in heaven or what ??
He probably has exceptional editing skills as well. Great casting makes all the difference in the world, it's especially impressive to do so from a sitting position in a moving kayak. But, in order to learn, you'll need to be patiently retrieving lures from off the bank, out of lay downs, or worse yet out of the branches of living trees. And even when you have achieved "expert" status you'll find yourself having to do so once in a while. We just don't see any of those. As always, a picturesque fishing scenario with lots of willing "stars of the show". There are no 15 acre ponds, in my neck of the woods, with fish half the size of those, without at least five other anglers competing for them. It's like this guy is always fishing private property, rarely seeing another fisherman. God sure blessed you living where you are. Wonderful video!
@@20oldenough, I’m sure he gets tangled one in a while but if it was you and me we would be surely be catching grass pike and Carp limbs a lot of the time.
Of course he gets tangled up at times…everybody does. But if I tried to throw a lure where this guy does, the name of my channel would be “How To Untangle Your Lure!”
Great video! I only get out once in a while anymore, but living vicariously through you and a couple of others makes up for it a bit. I've never fished from a kayak and probably never will. I might be able to sit in one, but getting in and especially out would probably be the best part of any video of mine. Folks wouldn't be watching for the fishin'.....just the flailin', splashin', sputterin' and possible drownin'. But, I love smallies. Love catching them...and eating them. One of my wife's favorites. Thanks so much for the view.
If I had ever showed up with a "Fishin Chicken" in my tackle box back in the day, my fishing buddies would have laughed me out of the boat! But you've shown us that presentation and technique trump traditionalism almost every time. Next time I get to go out I'm gonna try the most outlandish lure I can find, just to see if watching your videos has improved my stuff. I know it has, and I thank you for this little bit of calm excellence that I look forward to every week!
If your videos have taught me anything it's that the action of your lure far out weighs its design. You've been a big help with my fishing trips. Great work
River was perfect and the smallies listened to the cows 🐄...eat more 🐔 CHIKN. But my favorite was one this old goalie can appreciate....at 18:27 of the 3rd period...Fish makes a jump for the Yak....Kick Save and a beauty!!!! Great video Matt. Blessings
When I first saw that Fishin' Chicken, I thought to myself:"Man-Dude got snookered on that deal"! How wrong I was! That thing works great! Great video! Tight lines to ya!
Feel good about what you are doing for others , like myself, who are too old to do these things anymore and are so grateful to you . Your videos are a pleasure to watch . Thanks. ........!!
Great vid! I wanted to thank you, i just returned from a fishing trip in Ontario Canada and caught another massive trophy Muskie on my yak. Last time it was a whopper plopper thanks to your vids. This time it was a topwater frog using your tips on widening the hooks and trimming the legs. Frog fishing has become very successful for me! Your videos have provided great advice! Thanks again!
That’s awesome! It’s been tough going trying to find muskie here this summer but I finally hooked into one today! They relocated a bunch of them off the river I fish but there’s still a few swimming around in there.
because of you i bought 2 inexpensive baitcasters (which i have hated for decades) so i can give them a try again. already watched a bunch of videos on how to "tune" it to help prevent backlashes and "fingering" the spool too. spooled 30lb braid on the better one and 12lb mono on the other. gonna start with the worse one in case i get really mad and just throw the rod and reel into the water. lol. once i start getting better at it ill use the better reel that i put on a good rod (lew's carbonfire speed stick 7'2" med/heavy fast action)
Best way to learn a baitcaster, is to use a heavier lure...spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, whopper ploppers, lipless cranks, spooks, etc...heavy lures will result in less backlashes, until u gain confidence in the lighter baits
Pull out 40-50 yds of line then put electrical tape on the spool. Now if you backlash it’ll minimize the damage . Baitcasters in the $100 range are your best bet . Lews Shimano Diawa and Abu all have really good reels at that price
Great day! It’s amazing how you threw up into that corner once, twice and on the third cast-blow up. So cool to see. That river is the perfect set for your videos. The landscape is gorgeous, water’s clear and there’s tons of structure. Very fun to watch!
I might have to go try for some channel cats out there later this week! It’s weird seeing them up in that clear shallow water but I saw a couple schools of 10-15lb cats hanging out in some of the tree snags. I could probably paddle around until I spot some, back off, and toss my bait in there!
That looks like one of those cheap bargain bin lures that I fall for every so often and never catch much of anything on them, but that one worked really well for you!! Really enjoy your videos!!
Enjoy watching your videos. Nice way to take a break from everything bad going on. Bass don’t know what a chicken is but they know how prey wiggles through the water.
