When you recommended we use a friend's referral code rather than your own, I immediately liked. Need more guides and more genuinely helpful people like you you to give them :D
Holy smokes what a great guide. This is the best one I've seen so far, (and ive been digging around). Well spoken, clear, detailed, fits, strategy, just perfect. Well done. This is precisely everything I needed to know as a new pilot.
Thanks for the feedback. I haven't done videos as much lately and have focused more on maintaining a site for Abyssal resources, found here: caldarijoans.streamlit.app/Starter_Abyssal_Fits
Great guide on how to deal with ship types I was missing some CPU so had to use a cheap implant and swap one batt for a cap recharger T1 still too tough for my piloting
Thanks. As far as cap is concerned my T1 Omega Kestrel only runs a single battery. You only need enough cap to perma-run the repper with no real neut pressure. In T1 anything with serious neut pressure can run you dry even with two batteries. Fortunately, those spawns are ones where you can avoid basically all damage after the initial approach with practice.
Same Problems as you modified the fit: [Caldari Navy Hookbill, *Alpha T1 Dark Rocket Hookbill] Ballistic Control System II Crosslink Compact Ballistic Control System 1MN Monopropellant Enduring Afterburner Small Shield Booster II Small Compact Pb-Acid Cap Battery Small Compact Pb-Acid Cap Battery Compact Thermal Shield Amplifier Rocket Launcher II Rocket Launcher II Rocket Launcher II Small Processor Overclocking Unit I Small EM Shield Reinforcer I Small Warhead Calefaction Catalyst I Scourge Rage Rocket x150
I've had good success with your T0 Kestrel fit, so thanks a lot for all of the great detail on that ship and how to run it! I'm working toward the T1 Hookbill fit, but was wondering how much DPS I should be looking for? Still working on my skills but it would be great to have a target!
Glad to hear you're successful with the Kestrel. For Tier 1 the first requirement is tech 2 rockets, no exceptions. Beyond that aim for above 150 dps with rage. If you go right around 150 then a triple battleship spawn might hurt on time.
@@CaldariJoans Sounds like I'm on track then. Pyfa indicates that once I have the skills to use the T2 rockets I'll be at 166 DPS. So far I've found the learning curve from T0 to T1 to be quite steep and it's been frustrating. Biggest problem I believe is my skills are just not quite high enough to make T1 work reliably. I'll run a few in T1 and then die to a tricky spawn, which gets frustrating.
Would you mind doing a video for new players trying to understand the Kestrel as missile boat and confused on a starter loadout at Level 0-1 or link a build for us to understand? Love the content by the way!
@@DCUOKassadin So I would start with the Kestrel featured in this video once your DPS in the fit is about 90 and your standard rocket range is 10km. The fit is designed for new players like yourself to get started in T0 Darks. If you're starting from scratch on missile skills this will take a little bit. That's why I recommended using a referral link. It gives you 1 million skill points to play with. That's more than enough to crush the initial skill requirements on day one. In the description text of the video you can find the Kestrel fits with T2 Rocket Launchers as well as the 'Arbalest' rocket launchers. The latter have lower skill requirements. You can copy these fits to your clipboard and import them in the game in the fitting window.
Sure thing. I cover that on the website I made for the Abyss here: caldarijoans.streamlit.app/Tier_1_Solo_Frigates Scroll down to the bottom and I cover specific T1 frig questions like how to handle the Knight
Yea still viable. No major changes in a year now. Frig runs only get the multiplier for the biocache so low tiers it's usually only worth getting it. Easiest way to figure this out is if it takes you longer to full loot vs just doing another full run.
Covered at 7:44 in the video. The clip is of the Knight but you fight both the same way. Learn to spiral in and then orbit at 500m. Cap priority goes to your Afterburner NOT your tank. You are avoiding damage at that point. If you start taking damage at 500m then you need to figure out what you messed up.
Yea still viable. There's a skillplan for this in the Abyssal Lurkers MOTD in game. If you have those skills it will fit. Otherwise you can buy a cheap 1% CPU implant which will cost less than 1m.
Hey, thanks. The skillplan is to meet the minimum requirements while the number on the website is just a benchmark to compare against the other fits. It's difficult to compare fits when we can't guess everyone's skill level, so I set the benchmark for the fits at all skills V. This way you know what it can get to and how far your pilot is from the goal.
Light Missiles are a great weapon system. The problem with using them solo on Tech 1 frigates when Alpha or even Omega is they lack the DPS needed to get through the battleship spawns. You will have multiple runs where you are fine on time but once you get a couple larger targets you will run out the clock. Easiest way to compare it to the rocket setup is whenever we use Javelin then LMLs pull ahead. Unfortunately, that's your max DPS where the rockets can always go close range with Rage.
The difficulty level between the two is fairly drastic. With experience though you'll start breezing through the T1s. Just need to remember what to keep at arm's length.
Quick question. How do you best deal with the lancers in T0. They always seem to take up so much time and I end having to chase them to the edge of the pocket otherwise they stay out of my rockets range
If you're still working towards T2 rocket ammo then you will want to make them chase you. Because it's a Dark they shouldn't be moving out all that far. What is your current rocket range?
@@CaldariJoans current 9009m, using the arbalest fit but I've just finished T2 launchers so I can fit them now if you recommend? I've got a little better at the lancers now. If I can cut it off I can then just slam on approach. That way I stay in rocket range and can face tank any damage.
@@22rto Yea that should be fine. With rockets if you find you're having range issues you can run away. This will force the Lancer to chase causing them to fly into your rockets (which in practice extends your missile range in Eve).
@@CaldariJoans Hmmm I'll give this a go as well. Cheers for tips and the video. Really well explained although I think I'll need a notepad next to me when I start the hookbill T1's until I know what one doing! Seems like a lot of spawns to remember 🙂
Check your skills. I created an alpha toon for each of these fits and can attest that they do in fact fit. I'm away from the game at the moment otherwise I'd pull up my current skill list. Someone in the Discord can likely square you away though.
i cant say anything about those fits i never tried personally but lots of people able to do t1s with 2m cost punishers. I dont think hookbill will experince serious problems in there.
