The mechanical pencils are pretty, but in case those don’t work out (those cheaper ones can jam, they don’t write smoothly, or the lead breaks), I recommend the Pentel Sharp brand and they aren’t expensive. I used the same one all through engineering school, and maybe two ((only because I’d lose one)) over the course of a 34-year engineering career. I love the pet toys and subscription ideas! Nordstrom rocks customer service!
One thing that might keep you from over buying is the thought that when she moves she's going to have to pack all that stuff up and take it with her LOL
