I just love how wonderfully fair you are in terms of reviewing Coral Island. You're not too critical, to the extent that every little thing is criticised. But you're also not too positive, that you don't criticise things that do need improving. Honestly it's such a breath of fresh air amongst gaming creators, just in terms of how warm and positive this channel 😊😊

I've currently put Coral Island on hold to play it again once they really flesh out the merfolk, diving and main storyline. I'm keeping myself occupied by playing Baldur's Gate until then! ❤❤

Same here, adore the game so much but its starting to crash so much, losing so much playtime 😞, just started Wylde Flowers instead.
i want all the "base game" things to feel more complete. as much as i love coral island, launching into 1.0 when so much of the content in and around the island is unfinished is just.... really frustrating as a player. things like the savannah and merfolk kingdom i could kind of wave away as "extras," but if it's on the base game map i feel like there's much less of an excuse for it not to be there by now. so getting those things finished is definitely the most important to me.
Love watching my dog wander the farm and my wife (Eva) sitting on the porch. I wish that they added more with babies before adding them. Right now i have 2 babies i cant interact with. Would rather they waited on the feature. Would love to adopt another pet since its a farm and we have room. Usually farms have cats for mice and some have dogs for hearding. Looking forward to all they have planned for us especially island hopping!

I'm playing on PS5 and absolutely love this game so much. Currently I have almost 600 hours invested. I'm at the end of year 5, married to Rafael with two babies.. Haven't experienced much in the way of bugs. Year 3 my game started crashing within 10 minutes of starting a new day, but I fixed that by going into console settings and turning off HDR along with setting it to performance mode. With the latest update, I saw that the online shopping was missing, but not a real problem for me. Also, my aging barrels were bugged, but fixed that by hitting and replacing them in their original spots. The good things that I've noticed are: a lot of new conversations with all npcs and my husband no longer has 'nothing more to say' to me, I no longer get hung up on the stairs in various spots in the deep forest, and the 'lag' when putting product in the windmill is gone. My only true disappointment at this time is that I can't adopt a pet, because I grew the Mythical creature, Sawee. Looking forward to the coming big update with the hopes of at least the addition of the Savanah region, being able to complete the Giant questline and being able to interact with our babies.
Unfortunately, I doubt it would happen, but I would love to see the ability to manually save and have multiple save files. That way I wouldn't have to worry about losing my whole day if the game crashes or losing my whole save if it get corrupted. I just want a quicksave feature and an adjustable 5-15 minute auto save with it's own separate file and to keep the sleep save with it's own separate save. Three separate saves to work as backups in case something happens. But maybe I'm being excessive haha

@@kumisims5244 The game is certified platinum, it runs perfectly right off the get-go but if I'm being honest, the game starts lagging after 2 hours of playing and I have to restart it. Nothing major and I'm sure it will get patched out soon, but very worth it in my opinion!
I'm mostly hoping to see an updated roadmap. I read the developer's diary and see that the devs are working on so much all at once, that I can't even guess what the first update will offer. Two more weeks of waiting and speculating.
i've played out a full year + some days (put in 200 hours with early access and release) but put it on hold because i'm wanting to wait for the merfolk content to really kick off!! love coral island to death and the diving is honestly my favourite part so to have no actual interactions that hold substance yet is really making me want to chill out and forget about the game a little bit so it feels more exciting once the time comes hehe
Honestly, I'm looking forward to more game content. I've reached a point where no one in the mer kingdom will talk to me, and I'm finding it frustrating. The giants, also have little to say to me.
I have decided to be patient, and wait for more updates with new content before I proceed any further.

I love the game so much. It's beautiful and fun with a ton to do. The museum, which is stunning btw, is by far my favorite part and I look forward to picking it up again when the game has progressed and completing the museum. I don't want to burn myself out on it before the game done!
That said, 1.0 did not feel like 1.0, seemed incomplete for a 1.0 relese, and felt more like they were rushed into releasing it. I think their main focus should be completing the game (as in the story) with a secondary focus on bug fixes. While updating visuals and cutscenes and animations is important, I think things that are currently functional should be tertiary.
I really hope that with the next/first major update since "1.0" that they have made major progress on completing the story.
I think the game has soo much interesting things already developed so far, but yes I'm so excited to see what else they have in store! I'd really love to see more plotlines and hope we can do more in terms of pets and also our spouses
I love this game, but I'm lowkey disappointed that the game is not completed with 1.0 release. I know there are other games that do not release completed games as well, but 1.0 release should mean the main quest/storyline is completed. It's a bit sloppy tbh.
Yeah for a game funded by kickstarter, you kind of expect them to not rush it out unfinished for the holidays to make more money. Some of these 1.0 changes are frustrating and I personally wish they had put in more shortcuts so that those of us who basically completed the game in early access weren’t grinding so hard to get back to where we were.
@@farmpunk_dan you’re absolutely right. I hesitated to say it but releasing incomplete game just to make holiday sales bank is just dodgy. I kinda expect it from the big bad gaming companies but not from Coral Island developers 😢 Releasing a completed game should be the industry standard, not the other way around.
honestly im just waiting for the mods . like i cant wait to see all the mods people create .. like life improvement new clothes for the npc or the yourself
I liked this game but had to quit due to the crashing and time lost due to it. Nothing frustrates me more than spending 30-45 minutes doing something just to have the game crash and lose all that progress!
my fav thing about coral island is the merfolk! its so unique so im always hoping for more but i understand that its a very big project and probably not a prioity
I’ve realized lately while diving that the gold kelp area and the silver kelp area have corals going grey again? I thought it was a glitch at first but I wonder now if it has something to do with the music puzzles and some broken activation points around. Excited to see how it progresses!
It’s nice to know that there are so many people working in this game. I’m so in love with Coral Island but if I play more than one day it crashes on the save screen and I can’t tell you how many days I’ve repeated. I’m really holding out for it to be fixed in the next update cuz I just love it too much 😭🙏🏼
I loveee the Ocean. I really want to be able to reach S rank there as I've already cleared it, which hopefully includes the merfolk storyline to continue! I'm currently completely out of quests

Love this game and playing on Steam Deck, so I don't have the same bugs that so many others are suffering through. Quality of Life improvements first, makes sense to me. I'm slow walking my progress by playing 1-2 in-game days only per day to deal with the long update wait time. I'm sticking with the game though :)
Poor Sarah, being made to say Rizz *twice* on her video thank you for your thoughts/video, i myself am just happy to have an update, its a great game and anything else will make it even better.

I know people (especially a few cozy game reviewers) want the main story to be completed, but seeing how that the Savannah is connected to that, that might not happen that soon. I am personally patiently waiting for Merfolk romance before I get back into the game. Until then I have other games keeping me company besides other things lol.

I just started this game last weekend! It was added to Xbox Game Pass and I am so happy it was added. I am a huge fan of DDLV, Animal Crossing and Fae Farm, but as a coastal girl, this game has been so much fun to play and I’m enjoying every second of it. I am super excited for them to add it to switch and it would be so cool if it had cloud saving like Dreamlight Valley so I can take it with me when I travel.
I would absolutely love for them to add a tattoo shop to the game! Even an option for dying hair like the NPC, Suki! So many neat things they can add to this game. I am just so happy to be able to play it.

I been playing this on gamepass. I will buy it on steam soon. This is my favorite farming sim now. For the next farming sim to be better they will have to copy the faat travel, town ranking, seed upgrades and ocean diving of coral island!

Im new to this gam and have only been playing a few weeks but its nice to know that so much more is coming. My only complaint so far is how much everything cost! Def got that island prices down.
I really enjoy Coral Island and am appreciative of all the hotfixes but have put it on hold for now. I will be waiting for the updates to make the game more complete.
So glad they fixed the pet issue. I talked my mother out of getting a pet when she started to play so I'm happy to let her know they are worth it now. I hope they finish the Giants story if they haven't yet. I was legit curious as to what that was about.

I had just started the game not knowing anything about it so hearing what you've said the developer is working on and watching another video you put out to understand it more. It's giving me comfort knowing the team is working on it so it's not a fully completed game and so has a chance to be fixed.

I've been away from the game and stopped playing since the 1.0 release with many bugs on PC Game Pass. We have received only one update since then, and based on Discord reports, nothing has really changed. I hope they fix these problems and don't create new ones in this update, so I can happily return to the game.

Literally bought the game for the merfolk, thinking the merfolk story was already in it, so I’m a little biased in hoping that gets finished and released soon!
I agree on the relationships and bugs being priority. Next up for me personally would be merfolk and combat progression improvements. The combat skill is an insane grind compared to the other skills and has some of the most useful recipes locked behind it, particularly the Slime of Replication
I sort of ... finished the game? I didn't play for some time already because I'm waiting for the next update. They say they will have another blog in February right? Curious to know what that will entail.
I want the giant storyline to continue, as well as the merfolk kingdom. I do think the monster types are not complete yet as well. The minigames are removed and not reimplemented yet. So we are due for a huge update!
As a person who wishes to date Semeru in one of my saves, I hope the merfolk update is soon.

I love this game, just wish it had more marketing so it would sell more, this game is insane and yet i see no one talk about it
I've been playing since the first Alpha release, and the game play now is amazing in comparison, so I have SO much patience. Making a game is hard and I am not one to be annoyed at lack of storylines, etc. (I'm a slow gamer when it comes to the relationship aspect of games, I think I have like 25 heart events I need to trigger 😂😂😂)
Once I hit a year I had to stop playing because it just felt unfinished with the relationships and npcs which is like 80% of why I played the game. Looking forward to next patch.

I like this game a lot. It has a lot of cool pieces that Iike in other games and now it is all in one single game. The one thing I have noticed is that their seems to be a delay in the music in my PS5 version compared to the version I have on my desktop.
I’m just so excited for any updates, but I’m still working my way up to where I was before the 1.0 update, so I’m okay with waiting a little longer for new things, lol

Hallo , I have 2 questions. First: Does it make it the town rank higher the more friends you have and when you can start the monkey quest? Does it come with a special year? I don`t know how to start it. I`m townrank B and I can go in the monkey forest. But there is nothing to do. No quests. Nothing at all^^.

I actually dont have a pet house, justba bed indoors, and my bunny roams thr farm everyday!
I am 50 hours in the game and even tho i believe the game is amazing(the first ever cozy game i try that was able to keep me hooked), there are a TON of things to be fixed and added, i get a lot of bugs with movement and tool using, chat dialogs and the whole merfolk part of the game feels more like early access than release content. I also believe that they can work on a lot better clothing and player character model improvements( escpecially femele model, it looks very weird and boxy with some of the top options etc.). Anyways, i have high hopes for this game!
I've been following this game from a distance since it was first announced, but didn't purchase until the 1.0 release. I was disappointed to realize the game was still missing some pretty big features at that point, as I typically expect games to launch with a solid foundation and then continue to update with (often) smaller releases. What especially bothered me was the fact that the romance system wasn't yet finished, especially considering the hype surrounding the NPCs and the fact that romance is such a huge aspect of these types of games! I think the team is doing a great job over all, but I really hope the 1.1 update does flesh out the romance system much more. It was really disappointing to put all this effort into getting a character to level 8, giving them a locket, only to have them act as if nothing at all had changed in the relationship. It just ruins the immersion and feels like there's no reward for all the daily in-game work you've done 🙃

I love Coral Island, I played the merkingdom beta, but I wish that they would have been transparent about why they did the 1.0 release when the game wasn't finished. This is nothing new in games, but they should have at least completed the main quest and it's storyline for a 1.0 release IMO.
For me, I'll play it again when at least the main quest is finished.
I'm having fun with the game but QoL would still be nice. I know we'll get there eventually so I'm not too worried

I put about 60 hours into this game in December and imo this game should still be in early access.
I won at the harvest festival and didn’t get the prizes! I got 20 points for attending only! Also the barrels don’t work! That said love love love the game!

I also want see more from the Merfolk, i wish we could choose if we start our journey as a mermaid/merman and beeing able to visit the land after we reached a goal :'D but i guess this will never happen cus they had to rearrange everything

I love this game even though I am a pauper in it most of the time and all I can do is stare at all of the items in shops that my character can’t afford. LOL! Oh, BTW, what happened to the geodes in the cavern? I am near the end of Year 1 and I think I’ve only found 4 in the first three mines. Depressing.
A lot of other ppl have been complaining about similar issues. Apparently if you enchant your pick-axe TOO much in the "Rare Drops" category, it massively scales the amount of fossils you get but at the detriment of gems and geodes :(
One of the most enjoyable games I've ever played, and I've been gaming since my Amiga in the '80s. But... still no mention of books? The library is awfully empty.
Edit: The April 2024 dev blog does talk about books, though briefly. Fingers crossed.

I just finished all the altars and hit Rank A! Along the way I ended up dating half the town's population, as you do in these games 🤪
That being said, after all the QOL tweaks and fixes, I'd LOVE some more post-locket romantic/flirty dialogue! It's not a huge thing, but characters acting like I'm still new in town after dating for nearly year is really messing with me 😭
My pet won't leave the house no matter what the weather. Is there something you have to do (besides buy an outdoor pet house, which I've done)?
Personally, I hope they do the Savannah and give his more of the quest with the Giants. My save I have already gotten married and got everyone else to 8 hearts or 10 for friendship only NPCS so I am not too concerned with more dialog. Although, if they do more relationship stuff, I guess I could start another new game.

I love this game too, but it crashes A LOT!!! My biggest wish would be that we were allowed to manually save so that when something big happens we don't loose it. I shelved the EA version because it was so frustrating. Started a new game after 1.0 release, but it still crashes at least once every 4 or 5 days. So frustrating...
I would really like multiplayer it's getting annoying having to wait, but at least it's still coming it seems
My only issue with coral island is on xbox… it keeps crashing randomly and i lose my progress. I hope they make an autosave feature where you can save progress thru the day if it keeps crashing.. cus its so detrimental to lose all of that progress constantly and makes me not wanna play it ):
Also I don’t know if they’ve fixed it but I was having it crash after I’d play a few days in a row on Xbox, so I found that if you restart the game after each day you don’t run into the crash’s!
