Hozier and his whole band are just absolutely incredible musicians. The band dont get enough credit. Theyre amazingly skilled and talented
I'm just amazed by his finger picking style. He doesn't use his index finger at all. It is not the "traditional" way to finger pick. I love this because it shows he developed his own way of playing. Nowadays a lot of guitar lessons are basically telling people that if they don't play the instrument the "proper" way they will never develop any skill and he is proof that that is incorrect. A very beautiful artist for sure

the reason teachers teach you to use the ¨proper¨ way is mainly for hand health. You see if you squint your pinky like Hozier here you risk have a lot of pressure in you wrist (i dont know exactly the muscle) and could hurt yourself. I know this because a friend of mine is a classical guitar player and he hurt himself like that, he had to stop playin for like 3 months. Its not about skill, its about health.
Hozier is amazing, but i do hope he trains to play in a way that wont hurt him :'(

Yeah it's hard to imitate his style. But when you get the hang of it, learning playing his songs that requires a constant 6th string played is a whole lot easier

Yes Hozier binge on quarantine
Hozier for me is a completely another world. Like in the morning I would do my usual thing, prep for school and all. And then, when i get home I would listen to him and turn the lights off my room, stare at the ceiling and just be completely taken away. I barely recollect my day, but somehow what he makes me feel is vividly painted.

It is said that music is our connection to heaven. When I listen to Hozier, I feel that connection strongly.
this track captured me the most. I can hear this being played in a wedding while the bride is coming down the aisle. Very sincere, pure. Like all you want to do is stay in love.

James Carmichael it's a metaphor. the earth that his body was trapped in that she discovered him in was his lowest point. she was falling too but then they pulled each other out. he doesn't want to know who she was before she fell and neither does she. he just wants to be with her now. "we should just kiss like real people do" is about moving past their bad history and being in love like "real people."

One of the gazillion reasons why his music is perfect, at least according to me is because he doesn't speak of conventional love. His love songs always have this darker edge, like in this one he speaks about how he wonders why 'dear' was digging that night they found him! Give me this dark mysterious, edgy yet soft love songs over the basic romance songs anyday, all day! 🖤🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤

Its a very sad song really. The person finds a love that helped pull him out of a dark place but the other person never truly loved him and slowly but surely drifted away.
How is it humanly possible for one to have a voice equally beautiful as their being? Hozier is a gift to humanity.
I have never heard such a perfect voice.
The specialty of his music is that i get an Old English period vibe. The language seems to belong to some older period of time with references to time, life, love, sin, god, hell, etc.
