The race was run at a fast pace, although he lagged behind for a while Pakistan Star obviously has ability. I doubt the jockey wanted to get that far behind, but he knew what his horse was capable of. His next run will be very interesting. He has run the last 400 in 21.22secs and that is absolutely flying. 22.20secs is considered good in Australia. His last 200 metres was 10.5 secs. Why has this video gone viral? Punters love the thrill of watching backmarkers as they consider it more exciting than watching one lead all the way. The runner up ran a consistent good time, this was an exceptional performance from Pakistan Star.
I have 13 horses and are at the track every morning , and I doubt if there are more than a couple in the country who could get near 21secs and there might not even be that many. No one should knock the run at all it was as good as I have ever seen. Just a tip going forward, SPEITH although not a champ yet has broken 10 secs in a private trial for his last 200m. Never ever seen one do that before so he might be something very special as is no doubt Pakistan Star.

Zenyatta and Calidoscopio are remarkable for doing it in very big races (they are still breeding). Pakistan Star's run here is notable in that it's in a sprint, where it's a bit harder to pull off such a stunt. Pakistan Star is also very unusual for actually going on strike! He has been suspended more recently for stopping and simply refusing to run.
