Love your vids. My parents lived in Gearhart after Dad retired, and I went to culinary school in Portland 30 years ago. Loved crabbing. I even spent a day working at Jespersons smoke shop in Astoria. I was a night cook at the Multnomah Falls Lodge while in school. This brings back memories!
I have to share that we just got back from Winchester Bay last week and had the greatest time. I am in love with that area. (We are from Nevada). We used your idea of adding the extra chicken outside the bait box. And we were very successful. We caught over 100 crabs but went home with 22 in two days total. I was watching others and they did not seem as successful as getting as many in the cage. Thank you for your videos. And keep them coming. Maybe someday we can go crabbing with you.
Always making me miss the PNW. Plenty of things to harvest. Including wild mushrooms and berries. But I still hate the torrential rain and slow drivers in the fast lane. lmao But I visit every year.
You can clearly see that the pots PK often recommends and use is so much better than those folding black pots. Ultimately both do the job in catching crabs, but the Blue Pots makes life so much easier with extracting the crabs, since its much larger door can swing open. Granted those blue pots are much heavier and stronger than those black folders.
Pk, remember i told u how well we did on our vacation last summer? We drove our old rv up there with all the kids. Well thats the exact place we crabbed. We limited out under that bridge headed to the bay in about 2hrs

Slow drivers in fast lane are not cool, but I love the rain. I wish it would rain 365 days a year.

Where is the link in the video description to crabbing maps mentioned at 3:05?
It's been added now. It's a clamming/crabbing map actually.

I like your guide’s boat and setup. Can you tell me the brand and motor size? How old’s the boat?
Small. Going to costco to get their monsters.
Costco might be bigger but they are alot more expensive!
Thought only crabs in Oregon were from the hippies there
I was always taught that crabs should be cooked live.
Is it safe to go out and fish crabs cuz of COVID-19
