    Nice bike bro ! I have 2000 CR250R I’m just about to do the top end new plastic ,bars and a Gnarly pipe and fmf shorty tip … I’ve had this old girl for 15 years … we are both over the hill but still love ripping 😎

    Man, iv had a 96, 97 and 02 cr250 over the years. The 02 was my favorite!

    I like the gnarly cuz its great in trails and actually does good on tracks. no track near me can allow enough speed for 5th gear so top end isnt needed. just gotta pay much closer attention to what gear im in since its not broad like the fatty

  • @Bud1867
    @Bud1867 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    that looks and sounds sick, hopefully soon im trading my kfx400 for one of those with a gold fatty and power core 2

    The 2nd one sounds more responsive

    So someone made it the best combo fmf gnarley pipe 304r pro circuit silencer and you changed it?

    • @AustinLeeckRacing
      @AustinLeeckRacing  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that sucked for racing. Maybe if you were trail riding and didn't want any top end power. It's all low and and wouldn't rev out

    • @xxnickthegreekxx
      @xxnickthegreekxx 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Austin Leeck ok I've been running fmf fatty + power core 2 that felt restricted then realised my engine needed rebuild so just bought the fmf gnarley + pro circuit factory sound 304 but different bike i have Kx 250 seen a lot of comments say it's the best mix all round, so the shorty fatty is working better for you?

    • @xxnickthegreekxx
      @xxnickthegreekxx 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +xxnickthegreekxx I don't race we go to quarry's woods trails etc so should suit I do like the shorty you have though

    • @AustinLeeckRacing
      @AustinLeeckRacing  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +xxnickthegreekxx the best combo for top end power is the SST and Powercore 2

    Gnarly pipe is for bottom end I. Which the rc valve motors need. Your gonna need a lot more then a exhaust setup to gain noticeable diff in top end.

    • @AustinLeeckRacing
      @AustinLeeckRacing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Jesse Witt well, I highly dis-agree. The gnarly pipe should be used for woods riding only, or if you’re not going to rev your bike out on a track and short shift it anywhere. The fatty or the SST are leaps and bounds better for top end. I’ve rode all three with my bike. They do make a really noticeable difference. Unless you have tried them, don’t say you need more than exhaust. Obviously I have supporting mods with the motor... PWK airstryker, v force reeds, run race fuel with it. It DOES make a big difference. So going back to your comment, we can agree to dis-agree.

    Hard to tell difference with the big duration in the middle were u were talking bout upgrades....i think a more effective video would be shoot a quik vid right up close to silencer with one setup package...and then instantly edit it to show the exact same spot with the new setup....then go to front of bike and do a quik 20 second vid of the sou d 8n yhat area....and afain instantly switching over to the new setup directly after the last to really have the perfect side by side comparison video....u would of have to think.of all this ahrad of time and shoot the first setup in multiple locations ...then later do the next setup in exact same locations, then go back latwr and intercut the 2 setups like i said with one directly after the next, and preferably in the same temp....same premix ratio..same jetting , same fresh muffler packing...same clean filter, same area on the terra firma...since all these things can change the tone drastically if not in unison and controlled environment to keep the experiment viable. All in all i do thing the fmf shorty setup sounded the crispyest and tight and the mettallic tin sound more prevalent and the shorty silencer leans out the exhaust charge some giving it a most noticable mid and high rpm boost and i bet the fmf shorty setup even felt alot faster once on the pipe given the minimally restrictive properties it has..that turbinecore def sounded flat and i bet the packing was blown out because i have a new turbinecore on my 94 cr250 and it dounds soo amazing...has the same crispy bite like a shorty but a bit cleaner sounding and def a bit quieter at idle...but once on the pipe the turbinecore screams like any other shorty and it boosts the low end torque on my 94 honda which is def a good thing given the crv valve honda motors propensity to have a soft bottom end pull was totally revamped with just the turbinecore...dont even have to slip clutch nemore at starts..just pin it and drop the clutch in second gear and guaranteed wholeshot!!!!!

    much cleaner sound with the fatty and shorty. you should try the lock on emig grips I swear by them they are so easy to use and never slip makes life so much easier

    • @AustinLeeckRacing
      @AustinLeeckRacing  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      BCabral43 yeah man, new exhaust setup had a lot better throttle response, follow my page because this is a project/build im doing. Lots of goodies will be going on this thing. When I'm done with it you wont even recognize it. And ill have to try the emig grips. I love no slipping grips so i'll try it.

    • @DYhondaman
      @DYhondaman 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Austin Leeck I have those emig grips also. The only downfall is you have to sand the bar till it is smooth or you wont be able to get the grips on. When you do this the glue on grips will never work again. These are a medium compound grip, and the only complaint i have is it is hard(feels like your banging your hand off the metal bar) on the palm of your hands . The waffle is softer. They have excellent grip. I am severly exaggerating because i do not race mx. I ride trails( yz250f). Because they are a heavier compound they last forever. Don'r let my opinion deter you from trying them out.

    • @BCabral43
      @BCabral43 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Mater I didnt have the issue you did where you had to sand the bars for the grip to fit. My grips were able to go on right out of the box and I had no issues with them.

    • @mikecarrabba7538
      @mikecarrabba7538 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      can't speak for the emig's but those pro taper pillow tops are the way i roll & there mint! I also have an 02' cr250r with fmf fatty/shorty & love it! Its the best combo to bring out the lack of bottom end of that year bike. I would add the v-force3 or 4 now if they make it for the 02' along with a few uni air box vents and a twin air aluminum filter cage with twin air filter and then a pc racing filter seal and an outer aluminum air boot ring, it all comes as a kit (www.amazon.com/PC-Racing-Pro-Seal-Air-PCCRKIT/dp/B000GZHY4Y). Some say use the mx bonz air box kit but i have had NO issue with the pc racing kit and its half the price. That particular year had a restricted air entry into the box and also an issue with the outer air box boot leaking around the flimsy stock ring. Fine sand will get in there and sand down your piston. Trust me on these tips, there not that costly and worth every penny!

    I got a FMF SST expansion chamber and powercore 2 silencer on my 2002 cr80r. It makes all its power on the top end. Really screams. Probably the worst setup I could have on the bike because I trail and woods ride mine most of the time. But it was what was on the bike when I got it.

    • @AustinLeeckRacing
      @AustinLeeckRacing  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, for trail riding to better withstand rocks and logs. Not as easy to dent. It's made for bottom end power. Which you don't need for racing. I only race so I want my power to be made in the top end.

    • @AustinLeeckRacing
      @AustinLeeckRacing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      FMF Gnarly is pointless for track racing. Bike doesn't rev out. I would only recommend for woods riding. The FMF SST and Powercore 2 silencer makes the most power for that bike

      @@AustinLeeckRacing i prefer the pro circuit platinum exhaust chamber with a 304 silencer, vforce reeds. Wakes this bikes up nicely, and keeps pulling when dialed in and jetted correctly.

    why in the hell would you get rid of a gnarly for a fatty wth

    • @AustinLeeckRacing
      @AustinLeeckRacing  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because the gnarly pipe makes zero top end power. We your racing you don't lug a two stroke around. That was a dumb ass question. If I could have the SST I could. Because that makes the most top end power. When you race your wide open all the time.
      Does that answer your question?
