First of all I'd like to thank you for sharing your knowledge in such a motivating way. I really love watching your lessons here on youtube and on your Guitar Wisdom website on a daily basis.
I once heard about soloing "through the changes" instead of over them and have never really understood what it means. Could please explain one day?

Tomo, watching your Blues lessons was great confirmation that I was doing something right! Trying to assimilate it all from a few books & other sources is a slow road. You covered most of what I "thought" was correct...without knowing for sure. Now I do! Thanks. How about a Country Blues vibe, since Blues was also predominately rural, before the city migrations? Maybe something like a drone bass & finger style?

Tomo, I have joined your Guitar wisdom site and am enjoying it very much. I have played guitar on and off for most of my life. I played classical guitar in college for a few years. I made a lot of progress but ultimately felt that I was not progressing in proportion to all the time I was investing. A few years later, I bought an electric guitar and started working on jazz. I've played on and off, usually a few years at a time, working on chord progressions, scales, arpeggios and soloing. I never seem to get where I want to be.
I have a fair amount of knowledge and reasonable skills in my hands but I still can't really play anything. When I started working on jazz, there is so much to know and be able to do that I get overwhelmed and feel like I'll never get there. I want to have the fluency to make music naturally.
I'm starting again now after a couple of years not playing and that same feeling is coming up. It takes so long to really own all of that information. How can I develop the skills while not being overwhelmed by the practice required to gain them? It seems impossible to me to naturally see and feel all of the scales, modes, arpeggios and chord forms all over the neck. And I've practiced the scales and arpeggios so much that that's all that comes out of my fingers when I play. How can I practice while also making enough music to make it enjoyable?
I guess I'm looking for a road map. How long to spend on what things and then how to use them so that I can make music at whatever level I'm at? My sense is that I need to understand the chord forms all over the neck and the chord tones and modes associated with each. I never seem to get to the point where I can follow the changes quickly enough to even think about making real music while keeping in mind all of the theory. I don't know how to think about a melody when I'm trying to see a scale or chord tones for each passing chord.
I'm in no hurry. I am not a performer (needless to say). I play for the pleasure of the sound and using my hands on the guitar but I want to feel that I am making progress as well. Maybe you can make a video around this subject. I'm sure many players have this feeling.

Thank you so much for subscribing my Guitar Wisdom. Thanks for sharing these. For jazz, 1) Listening only jazz for a while 2) Learn R 3 7 Swing 3) Learn triads ... no 7th arpeggios etc... to easy to learn pattens and it won't work that well. 4) Learn " Rose Room " Charlie Christian by ears! I have this song lesson here at my TH-cam channel. Please separate " Performance " idea & " Practice " idea. No need to have a lot of information. Less is better. Focus on each items with depths. Hard to say how long? Two weeks to a few months on one topic. So you really master each subject. For example, can you play Triads 3 ways with super clean technique? If not, this topic is slowing you down big time!
Please take your time! You are going to enjoy more! Thank you!

No need to know all possible ways to play modes & arpeggios!
More specific ways... 1) One String One Finger... really good with Ear Training... 2) Triads 3 ways 3) R 3 7 swing groove ( Jazz Standard section on my Guitar Wisdom) Learn each song and spend 1-2 weeks on each song! 4) Listen Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, Barney Kessel , Kenny Burrell, Grant Green, Jim Hall, Joe Pass, George Benson)

Picking up little pieces of wisdom over the last year or two and slowly I am getting pretty good in different areas of playing now. My ear even when I listen to blues, I am learning now, but in a way thats thanks you learning things from you and then hearing it in the music. I get compliments on my bends now! Unbelievable to me. I ham woth a friend who can improvise blues, and I already know the chords when we first meet. Awesome.

I gotcha just work on making the shot before learning to slam dunk.🙏 Very easy to get caught up in the confusion of modern day and to try to learn this thing fast. I’ve been playing for 30 years but with you, I find myself erasing that chalkboard and just starting off with a clean slate and I’m happy to do that. But I have the benefit in the advantage of mental conditioning and Finger finger dexterity. You’d probably get angry if you saw me just loop sessioning sections of your video where you’re just doing a rhythm and I’m practicing soloing over it. But I am using your soloing techniques that you’ve taught me 😉just making one point line shots or whatever they call it in basketball ,Over and over again, trust me your video gets wear and tear from me. you start your videos off with thanking us. When is us should be thanking you for putting these valuable gems up And nuggets of knowledge up. I mean, really I owe you a serious debt of gratitude. I played guitar for about 30 years like I’ve always mentioned and I put it down for a while only picking it back up sparring but now you have me back on it solidly. The electric skateboard the video game system All of that stuff is collecting dust now, and my axes are polished and Being played. I feel like if a minute goes by that I’m doing something else that doesn’t involve my guitar and it’s not important, I feel actually feel pain from loosing that minute . BTW, pinky fingers is in a splint and I’m using the other four and managing🌞

[PSS Pt. 1] Starting phrase at 0:58, breakdown at 1:11 within A (Ionian) major Pentatonic scale at 7th fret of 3rd string (G string) the starting pitch or note is C chromatic, then next fret or semi-tone up is C# which is major 3rd, then E is perfect 5th, then F# is major 6th, then A on 1st string or high-E string is the the 1st or root note A. After the starting phrase (and between the phrases) playing chord (diad of two notes the 3rd and 7th) at 1:20. [However, the diad chord of 4th and 1st is played only once before sliding to two strums of 3rd and 7th chord in this example perhaps by mistake or for intentional variation]. Next phrase at 1:52 starting on the perfect 4th which is D note. The third phrase is at 2:06 which is starting from 9th fret G string: 5, 7, 2, 3, 2 ... Baseline at 2:38 which is 1, 7b, 5, 1 repeating for four bars. The two bars of 4, 1, 3b, 1. Back to 1, 7b, 5, 1.

Tomo, that beautiful shade of red, might be closer to the pinky red that vintage red strats turn over time? Either way its a lovely shade. Do you have any 1980s Tokai Springy Sound stratocasters? I’ve heard that the finger nails of your left hand(the hand that presses down the strings) will get shorter as you play guitar. If this is true, will my finger nails stay like that forever? Or will they eventually come back to how they used to be?
