When you mentioned Europeans reaction to God, it reminded me of going through airport security in a European city. The man checking my carry--on took my bible out, paged through it and then tossed it aside with a look of disdain/disgust on his face. It was so shocking to me, I will never forget that look. I pray for him.
The pregnant girl was not portrayed as a sinner because she was pregnant. It's because she was contemplating having an abortion. In the end she decided against it.
@@iamReddington LOL. How can you determine what a sin is without religion? 🤣... As a non-religious person, you should have absolutely no concept of what a sin is 🤦
Whether you believe it or not, every man and woman and will stand before a Holy and Just God. Every person will give an account for every word and every deed done. That should terrify anyone! Everyone needs a Savior friend.
The thing about songs like this is, not only is it incredibly well-known here, it really gives a lot of insight into the culture of (most) of the South. Faith and religion are huge parts of the culture and it's pretty common for people to be incredibly open about that here. We have an industrial history and there's some nostalgia for that, so the imagery of a train works well here. In terms of struggles, teenage pregnancy, drinking and drugs (especially pills) have always been and continue to be an issue. So when you listen to this song, if you really pay attention, you get to know a piece of the south.
I love this song. It put him on the map. He is considered a country gospel singer and has an amazing voice. Randy Travis was one of his idols and they did some duets together. You should check those out
I was going to suggest Randy Travis, too, given that they liked Josh's baritone voice (Trace Atkins also has a nice, low voice). Randy Travis songs I'd recommend: "Three Wooden Crosses", "Deeper Than the Holler", "Forever and Ever Amen", "On the Other Hand". For more country gospel type songs, gotta love the hundred country legends who joined in the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's version of "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" (th-cam.com/video/7bRJLkNqNXI/w-d-xo.html), "Go Rest High on that Mountain" by Vince Gill, or "Believe" by Brooks and Dunn.
how exactly do you get that from the images in the song? I love this song, and have watched the video multiple times and never once did abortion cross my mind. To me it looked like her "sin" was pre-marital sex, because she's pregnant so young. never once did I think she's contemplating abortion.
This was my great grandmas favorite song. She passed away a year ago this month. Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of her. I miss her a lot but I know she’s in a good place now.
Josh was going to Belmont University in Nashville TN. He was done for the day and walking back to his dorm when he heard a train whistle. He sat down and wrote this song when he got back to his dorm....He met his wife at Belmont and she plays piano in his band.
You must remember America was founded by the most religious of the Europeans. A lot of the British Isles have lost the knowledge that these specific Europeans are the tribes of Israel. They tend to fall into two categories. The more religious and the very wicked. In American country music, it is still very common to sing gospel music along with the traditional Country and Bluegrass. Both will also have very strong "Christian" overtones and words.
His song "Would You Go With Me" is awesome. I'm old enough to be his mother and if Josh Turner came up to me asking if I'd go with him I'd be like, "Let me pack my bags!"
Letters from home - John Micheal Montgomery Your Man -Josh Turner Indian Outlaw - Tim McGraw Thunder Rolls -Garth Brooks (This is hard to find) Ireland - Garth Brooks (hard to find) Man, I fee like a woman- Shania Twain
1:17 Dr. Kimble was played by David Jansen in the 1960's TV series, The Fugitive. He was convicted of murdering his wife and after he escaped from a train wreck was trying to track down the one armed man who was the real killer.
As I understand the song, the train symbolizes temptation. "That train is a beauty making everybody stare, but its only destination is the middle of nowhere." The song seems to be saying that Satan uses any means possible to keep us from following God, and that when we give into temptation, the consequences are alcoholism, depression, unwanted pregnancy, etc. But the song also says that God is willing to forgive us. "I stand at the door and knock." (Rev 3:20)
Awesome reaction i love this song. When my baby was murdered i rode that train but i didn't stay on it... my hubby saved me from dying w/o him i wouldn't be here right now. My son committed suicide and i know he did not go to hell just because he chose to end his life.
You should listen to Radney Foster "Went For A Ride"....more on the cowboy side, and great lyrics....the version with the Del Rio, Tx on the front cover, 1959....
As a Christian, there is a lot of truth behind this song. I was lost and unsaved, bound to eternal punishment for my sins. But the Lord Jesus Christ has different plans for my life and saved me. Since I have accepted him into my heart, I have joy and peace that cannot be explained. My life has been changed and now I have a new purpose in life and serve Him to the best of my ability everyday. I pray that one day you will accept into your heart and I promise you that your life will change and have the same peace and joy I experience from God.
I don't know where you chaps think the basis of Western morality of the last 2000 years came from if not from the ten commandments, the life of Jesus and the New Testament. However, I enjoyed the song and the discussion. Take a listen to Zach Williams' Chain Breaker.
Now, would be a good time to lighten the mood with some funny country songs by Toby Keith. Love to hear you blokes laugh and we all need some laughter in our lives at this time. Toby has quite a few but a good start would be I Wanna Talk About Me, How Do You Like Me Now, Wacky Tobaccy. Would love to see your reaction to these types of songs.
That pregnant girl is like my grandsons DNA mother. She was doing really hard drugs while pregnant, she took a hit of ephedrine while she was being taken to the hospital. My grandson is doing good, he does have Hep C but my son and his wife are going to take care of him
I love you guys. You're so smart and yet funny. Please react to Josh Turner Your Man. It's the first song I ever heard of his and it made me a Josh Turner fan. You'll love it. Thank you blokes.
You blokes may like "Cliffs of Dover" by an American named Eric Johnson. He has a live version from Austin City Limits TV show that is pretty good. His music is hard to pigeon hole in a genre. However, he is a master guitarist. When you see this, you will find it hard to believe a 3 piece band can sound this full.
Anything by CMA (Country Music Award) winner 'Chris Stapleton' is worth hearing as the man can not make a bad song. His style is mostly country blues. He wrote many songs for other artists including Josh Turner and Adele. He hit the awards first for his version of 'Tennessee Whiskey'. His wife Morgan is his backup singer for most songs and a artist on her own too. th-cam.com/video/4zAThXFOy2c/w-d-xo.html
“Whiskey Lullaby” by Brad Paisley (country, sad, “he put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger”); “A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action” by Hank Williams, Jr. (not sad); “All My Rowdy Friends” by Hank Williams, Jr. (definitely not sad and there are four versions, the song was used by the NFL as the theme for Monday Night Football)
I could see you guys getting uncomfortable when he started talking about the lord lol. Religion in America is funny tbh.. most people keep their belief to themselves and get on with life as normal or should I say their normal. But we don't really have too many people shoving religion down your throat. Politicians use it to push their agendas sometimes too but thats a whole different story. Would love to see you guys react to Alan Jackson - Chattahoochee keep up the great work fellas!
I'm from the deep south born and raised, and while religious beliefs are often discussed and are still largely a focol point in many communities. Though I doubt you'll find many who would outright impose their beliefs upon those who don't want to discuss..
It ain't about condemning sinners, it's about having hope, everyone's a sinner, but sin eats us up, it steals our will to live. Sin poisons the heart, soul, mind and life. It's a slow poison, a long, black train, that promises happiness, but never delivers. Jesus said, ''Enter in at the strait gate, for strait is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to Life, and few are they that find it. Broad is the way that leads to destruction.''
Yeah Josh Turner is a baritone just like Randy Travis so his music is kind of in the style of Randy Travis! It's got more of a Christian gospel vibe to it!
It's funny how they talk about all of Europe cringing at the thought of God, when Europe used to be the bastion of defending Christianity. Let's hope for Europeans sake, since they cringe at the thought of God, they don't find out differently when they die.

and that right there is the problem with religion. Making abortion out to be a sin is garbage.
@@iamReddington It is a sin.. Do you not know what sin is? Lol
The morals of people who don't value life, even in an unborn state, is what's garbage.

The pregnant girl was contemplating abortion. She chose life for the baby at the end.
But, if she is pregnant out of wedlock, she has already committed fornication, don't compound it murder.
