  • This is a tutorial on how to tie it a lanyard knot that I "discovered" a few years ago. If you know the name, please let me know. I've never found a reference to this design, but I doubt I'm the first person to tie this knot.
    They're simply, cheap, easy, and lightweight. Give them away to friends. Keep one in your car. Keep one clipped to your backpack. Keep several in your camping gear.
    Carrying a water bottle helps encourage you stay hydrated, refill it, and reduce waste. Put a unique lanyard on your own bottle, so you always know which one is yours.
    I'm sure you'll find more uses that I can't think of at the moment.

    Thank you for this quick and easy alternative to the jug knot! Awesome job creating it even if it does turn out that someone else did too👍🙂

    This is a nice knot but much different than the jug knot I learned in the Ashley Book of knots.

      I only know how to tie, like … 5 knots
      I just looked that up, and it looked very complicated. I watched a guy tie it, and I got lost somewhere around step 3.
      I don't know if my knot is in ABOK. I would love to know the proper name, if it has one. I "discovered" this knot when I was just messing around.

      @@cymond Honestly it’s simplicity and function are great. I thought to myself how it is a great alternative to the confusing to tie jug knot. I found someone who showed the best technique to tie the jug knot which varied greatly from some confusing alternatives going around. If I can find it, I will share it with you.

      @@cymond Found it! I let this keep replaying on loop and I think it is the easiest way to tie it. That being said yours works great also. Take care.

    Nothing at all against the fancier more elaborate bottle lanyards or "jug slings" but sometimes ya just need the "down and dirty" quick bottle knot and this is it. No fuss no muss. We'll just call it "Cymond's Bottle Sling" :)

    I like it... but I'd add a ranger knot around the 2 strands. This would allow a locking mechanism with a friction bead.

    What is the neck of the bottle is completely continuous? Link most drink glass bottles?

    • @cymond
      @cymond  ปีที่แล้ว

      I assume you mean smooth without any ridges when you say "continuous", like an antique cola bottle.
      Unfortunately, I don't know. Those have become very rare here. I would probably have trouble gripping the neck tight enough.

    Still overcomplicated. Just take the loop and make a marlinespike hitch in it and you are done. Got several bottles? Tie several such slipknots.

      @plywoodcarjohnson5412 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You do have a point, bcoz there's two strands under the lip. With just one strand (basically any selftightening knot) there is even less room required for the jug sling to fit.

    I believe it is call cow hitch.
