We moved from the central coast of California to St George UT 30 yrs ago. My wife got a management job at the local hospital and I started a plastering business in St George area. We retired 8yrs ago and spend alot of time hiking camping in Utah, Colorado, Nevada, and Arizona. Life is better here in Greater Zion. California is ok to visit a few times a yr but we would never move back. P.S. regular unleaded is 2.15 a gallon in Filmore UT if your heading north to Salt Lake area.
I am going to have to find that gas station! lol It is always nice to hear other peoples stories of they move out of CA. Makes us feel like we are definitely moving in a a positive direction. Zion is def on our list of places to explore as soon as we get back out there!
@@utahboy17 ahh very cool! Will have to find each other out on the trails! I hope to get some trail rides together for those who are interested once effect get settled out there ;-)
Hi! Just found your channel. My wife and I have been in St. George for 18 years now. We also found out that Hurricane is pronounced the British way and Zion rhymes with lion! Some people say Zions, never have figured that one out!
Big moves are never easy. "Ya need to move out!" (I'm in NY, I can relate) but easier said than done. Gas here in Upstate NY is about $3.00/gal, gets higher closer to NYC. One bag of groceries is about $75, just basics. winters are cold here, was in the teens at night, barely 30 in day. CA has better weather. In the case of NY and CA I don't see things improving. We'll see how the nation goes in the next year. Some states will improve, some will be defiant (like NY) .
I head you on how big the move can be. I think it is more of an emotional one rather than being afraid to just start over finance wise. It is hard to see both of these states go in the direction they are. Sad actually. NY sounds cold! But I kind of already knew that :-)
@@whiplashoffroad Ny and CA were never quite as crazy as today. I'm almost 60 and was nice long ago. Still many decent people in both CA and NY. We'll see what opportunities come next. Looking forward to your progress.
18 ka year, yes! 1500 a month and thats just the beggining. When you account forthe lack of stress and feeling of freedom… life is soooo much better. Great adventure and move, better now than never!
Everything in utah is cleaner. Rest stops , no graffiti. Restrooms at gas stations and restaurants cleaner. Merchandise in makeup section isn't locked at walmart. People in utah will actually acknowledge your presence when you walk by instead of acting like they have blinders on. Similar home is 25- 30 percent cheaper.
Hopefully it works out for you. Just one note, If your are going to move to Southern Utah please don't support the failed policies that make California an absolute mess both economically, culturally and with crime.😀
@@kfbob364 oh heck no, the failing policies and horrible management of the state is exactly why we are wanting to leave. Without getting to deep into politics, just know we are very much in support of having rights, choosing to bare firearms if we wish, and we don’t believe in handing out participation trophy’s ☺️ lol
@@john091077 it’s been interesting that we don’t even really notice the Mormon community. Maybe it’s just because we aren’t looking 🤷🏻♀️ Don’t get me wrong, the community is there. I just think we don’t pay much attention to it lol

We agree! Every time we go we find it more and more appealing and could see it being a great overall move at this time in our lives 😊

Been to Utah. Couldn't take all the Mormons.

I just move to Hurricane 2 years ago from Houston. Half my new friends here are LDS. They're perfectly fine.
