      Hello guys!
Chris I am absolutely terrified of spiders. I can’t even cope with the tiniest ones. So here’s my tip and this works wonders. Get some mint essential oil (a good few million drops) some fresh lemon juice, a bit of washing up liquid and put all this in a spray bottle then fill with water. Spray it everywhere every week and you won’t get any spiders and makes the place smell lovely. They don’t like mint or citrus and the washing up liquid helps keep it adhered to whatever you spray it on. I spray the walls, doors, window and door frames and well, just everywhere! I swear it works brilliantly! Keeps other insects away too but defo the spiders. I’m off on hols next week so watching my pennies but I’ll buy you guys a few coffees when I get back. Massive hugs and good luck with the rest of the floor Becks it’s looking amazing! 🤗

Chris I feel your pain with the Spiders on your boat, and then to see all the baby spiders....Yikes!!! Loving the dramatic music (as always). Also Loving the snake, and the amazing transformation into the Titan's hose, and then the antics that followed. Great editing too. As always, a very enjoyable and entertaining Vlog. Thank You. One of the best tips I got from My woodwork class at school in the 60's was - "Always Hold The Hammer At The END Of The Handle For Accuracy And Wieldly POWER!"....... The Most SCARY thing - was being shown a Health & Safety booklet where a LAD had his School-Tie wrapped around the chuck of a Lathe and his HEAD being DRAWN into it's unforgiving Face-Mangler - Beck's hair Dangling Menacingly!!! over the drill reminded Me of those images - Be careful Gal 😵‍💫😵🥴

Your floor boards came from a car company....so did mine...crates for airplane engines from a certain prestige car/aviation company in The Midlands I won't mention...we had permission to use them ofcourse...(pokerface/side-eye)....lined the walls below and above the gunnels perfectly...Oh..by the way, please please don't let the two year slog dishearten you both from continuing......it took my friend and I fourteen years of hungover Saturdays of boat work to get back on the canal.....you will NOT regret it....and once your cruising properly you will appreciate the effort you put in much more.Your'l understand why you continued...It IS worth it!...I really do like the vibe of your video's and you both are the epitome of what real boaters are all about.Your'l encounter the odd miserable sod but in the most part we are all happily mental.

I have a really bad fear of spiders. We live on a boat and we have plugs I got from Amazon, that are meant to scare off spiders. I have one plugged into each room, not in the spare room.
Not seen any in the boat but there are webs outside.
My son told me he seen a big spider in the spare room/bedroom. He stays in when he's over.
I haven't been there since. I plan on putting down a spider trap in there and adding a plug.

5:19 Best line of this episode: "When it gets dark, I like to call it a day." That's strange. I call it night.
11:05 The spider nest may have been escapees from Chris's head. The only way to keep them in is to wear ear plugs. [SFX: crunchy sounds of brain being eaten].
But fear not. The Mighty Titan sucks. In a good way. Those little spiderlets won't stand a chance in Titan's mighty digestive juices. Hmm. I think that might be creepier than spiders eating your brain.
Replacing the colorifier was a good call. That's one more thing you don't need to worry about. Unless The Maverick breaks it, of course.
The floor is looking very good. It will be fine so long as you wear deck shoes or some relatively soft footwear. I like the fact that you're trying to recycle as much as possible. Maybe it takes aliens from Planet Crobot to teach us earthlings how to look after things better.

The floor can only expand if it’s a floating floor. Yours isn’t as you’ve fixed it to the floor below with hundreds of nails! So unless the floor it’s fixed to is floating then it ain’t going anywhere.

    • @TheNomadicCrobot
      @TheNomadicCrobot  ปีที่แล้ว

I deliberated over whether to do a floating floor but I read alot of advise about using solid wood flooring on a boat and it being best to fix it down with glue and nails so decided to go with the overall opinion! It's so hard knowing what's best to do sometimes! However the floor we have in the kitchen we left expansion space for and it does exactly that - expand and contract. That ones also glued and nailed so fingers crossed this lounge flooring doesn't volcano up in the middle!! 🤞

Unfortunately Chris you and Bex are making the perfect environment for Spiders…… They Love the smell of Wood because it reminds them of their natural habitat ( like the Woods 🙄 ) that’s the main reason why lots of people who have Boats Built,go for Man made synthetics instead of Wood 🤷‍♂️.
Spiders aren’t keen on non natural materials 🤷‍♂️.
There are things that you can do though to keep Spiders away and it is pretty simple, you just need to get Lavender ( Fresh tied in bunches and tied up around the Boat ) or you could make Lavender purses with dried Lavender ( but it does need to be a good quality smelling lavender ).
I don’t know if you remember like your old Nana but they would use Lavender in Little like pillow purses which would be put under the Pillows and in the Drawers and Wardrobes ( especially in the Bedrooms ).
Another thing that Spiders don’t like are Horse Chestnuts ( the smell or the chemicals they produce ? ) but in the old days people would string them together and hang them outside under the eaves ( the thatched cottage) and they would also put Conkers ( Horse chestnuts ) on the windowsills.
Mint and peppermint is also another couple of things that you can use ( Window boxes on the inside say of the kitchen window ).
The other thing that Spiders like is….. Clutter ( A tidy home is a clean house) is something our Nana’s used to Say and for good reason…. Spiders like places they can hide in nooks and crannies which get little usage and unfortunately at the moment your Boat inside is perfect for them ( smells nice and woody and lots of hiding places 🤷‍♂️ ).
I seem to remember that Zoflora the original cleaning fluid is something else that insects don’t like to much and diluted your safe to use that when wiping down wooden surfaces 😁….. Not Bleach !!. Dries the wood out extremely quickly ( too quickly where it will crack ).
Our older relatives like Nana’s and our Mums really knew best when it came to keeping Homes Spiders free 👍.
    Another Great Video ❤

I never thought of that...spider seams love wood. I fear there will never be a way to solve the huuuuuge problem, though I feel once we get going things may get easier. Thats very interesting...iv been using a mint oil spray but it doesn't stop things for long. Thanks interesting too..iv heard the Conker theory too. Thanks for all your great suggestions...ill be sure to put some to the test f I want to stay alive on here😂

Get some peppermint oil. Spritz it about. Spiders tend to not like it and will vacate the area.

Arachnophobia can be helped by buying a tarantula since many are colorful & can eat mice , bugs & other spiders - The best beginner tarantula would be such as the Chilean rose, Mexican Redleg, or Costa Rican Zebra. These species aren't terribly venomous and are pretty docile when compared with some other tarantulas (their venom is comparable to bee venom). They are very cheap to feed & make no noise while you are sleeping - he he

Can you not just go cruising even with these minor refurbishments and fix them ‘on the cut?’ There’s no holes in the bottom of the boat, just go for it!!!!! Otherwise, once you finally start cruising (in 2040) you may have lost your core audience!!
