1:03 - This is like back in my Dominos Pizza days when Corporate would make surprise visits to our franchise location and my manager would suddenly be super nice and stuff, bowing like Yabushige 😂
This is where I fell in love with the show: "oh so sorry... it was my understanding that you were loyal to our lord." Sounds like Granpa is scolding his little grand kids
Love the way Hiromatsu basically says "How rude of me. I was under the assumption we were allies. Allow me to rectify my mistake." That line is one hell of a power move.
From his very first scene I already knew Yabushige would be the most interesting character and he definitely is! Easily my favorite. His game of trying to survive and cheat death time after time is a whole arc on it's own.
In the 1st episode the protugal priest demanded blackthorne dead as punishment for disrespecting the cross. Yabu told him, no, not blackthorne, but he could choose another. So that is why yabu boiled the guy alive, it was at the request of the priest. Small detailed that cpuld be missed, i was wondering why too and only caught it on the 2nd viewing.
He was testing the man's strength. He knew they weren't merchants and had military affiliations. You see him talking about it right after he bangs his head. He was surprised he lasted so long and that gave away something about the crew.
Translation: Youngin, you’re either going to come up off that shit RIGHT now or after I’ve ran through your entire fucking section. Don’t play with me.
Yabushige was a noble. Hiromatsu couldn’t have killed him unless Toranaga directly ordered it. So all this posturing and tugging on katana handles was for dramatic effect and ultimately our viewing pleasure.
My japanese friends say he is what their imagination of a typical samurai was. Most were just weaseling out their way to power, Tokugawa himself was a sly fox.
@@johnkricorian9786 I'm uneducated in Japanese but from the tone it seems he was very close to this line: '''I'm sorry it has come to this my friend'' with an implication of reacting to insubordination. I may be a total fool on this tho
Ah yes, nothing like the sound of several dozen katana being pulled out of scabbards ever so slightly to remind you of your loyalty.
Very convincing indeed
It's the ancient Japanese equivalent of a shotgun pump sound.
Pulling out means a serious escalation (probably where the Acolyte writers took the notion). They just grabbed it.
It’s not to meant to remind you of your loyalty.
It’s meant to remind you of the of the price of your disloyalty.
@@potatoensalada1951Or a revolver hammer being pulled back.

Did he say " i had a surprise waiting for you!" lol
😂@@wcsdiaries
HAHA thats awesome!
Did the corporate goons grab their katanas when the manager wasn't generous?😅😂

Show, not movie.
@@Gadget-Walkmen thanks!
Me too, just how quick the old man was ready to spill blood, hard as fuck
Followed by the collective sounds of sword hilts being touched.
*chefs kiss*
Yabushige is such a pos, i love it lmaoo 😂
I love the line "I had wanted it to be a surprise" 2 seconds after he tried to say "it's mine"

it's just funny how he fails so miserably at his treachery, yet keeps trying it.
1:19 the way they hold the katana's handle reminds me of how in Cowboy movies they'll hold the holster of their gun. God i love cowboys and samurais.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
i will never get over how Yabushige boiled that dude alive for no reason, and now he's buddies with our boy John wtf
Pretty standard for the time not a big deal

This comment does not age well 😂
Well I mean it's Japan and they don't they pirates too friendly

1:08 that’s the most gangster thing they did!🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wish they didn’t kill off hiromatsu, that was one bad ass old man
While tragic it was absolutely necessary to trick the spies working for ishido within toranagas household
agree!
he displayed his badassery to the fullest in his death, though
Totally agree, Hiromatsu reminds me of those old time gunslingers who were past their prime, but you still didn't mess with them.
His death scene and that episode is probably when the show peaked. Amazing but sad moment
Thanks for uploading. One of the best scenes!
That nervous laugh after he realized he fucked up.
He showed disloyalty he had to do reverse course or else did would have killed
I like this scene the most.. a simple hand gesture and everything is settled.😂
I LOVE he's portrayal of a samurai
Hiramatsu like "I thought you was gang ah well, you know what we do to Opps round here"(grips sword)🤣🤣🤣OG fr fr

So gangster
He showed him who is boss!
He's the coolest granpa
It's always important to understand non verbal communication... you Life might depend on it!

I don't think Hiromatsu would hesitate to kill a disloyal samurai, noble or not.
@ True, only Yabushige wasn’t just a samurai. He was also a noble vassal. They took social status very seriously.
Cool scene.
In every culture there is old man noices which are just done with bullshit 😂
Yabu is such a unsophisticated weasel 😂
And yet we love him more for it!
My japanese friends say he is what their imagination of a typical samurai was. Most were just weaseling out their way to power, Tokugawa himself was a sly fox.
Beware of the old man in a profession where men die young…
Was that the best they could cast as Omi?
Audit team from the head office doesn't f-k around.
Yabu obviously knows hiromatsu is betrer with that sword
What so sorry is he saying? I know of three ways but never heard it said like that before
i saw that too. My guess is it's a phrase that is hard to put into english so they got as close as they could.

I may be a total fool on this tho
Shitsurei itashita/(Shitsurei shimasu in modern japan)
Yabushige did nothing wrong
He showed disloyalty
He disobeyed a direct order. To stay in Edo.
