- ET’s Lauren Zima chats with JoJo Siwa and her dance partner, Jenna Johnson, at their rehearsal ahead of ‘Grease’ night on ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ JoJo, who has been performing in the public eye since she was a young kid, opens up about how Jenna has helped her overcome her body image struggles while working together on the show. ET also surprised the dancing duo with a very special message from Sandy herself, Olivia Newton-John.

All of a sudden JoJo makes so much sense to me. Obviously JoJo never felt comfortable in her skin so she hid and dressed more like a little girl instead of a young woman. Bless her partner for helping her come into herself with such love and confidence 😍 🙌🏼
I definitely relate to that! Growing up and embracing being, and dressing as, a woman can be scary, especially when you've been bullied for not being "womanly"
Jojo has gotten so much better, jenna has really brought her out of her shell, and I can see a new level of maturity, confidence, and happiness in her. I think she's grown so much from this opportunity, and iam so proud of them for getting the first perfect score of the season, definitely well deserved! Hope to see them in the finals.

I too posted pretty much the same thing that you did! It took her dance partner Jenna to bring her out of her shell and look at herself in a new light! She pushes her to do better because SHE CAN! It took Jenna to make JoJo look at herself in the mirror and show her, tell her how beautiful she really is!! I told JoJo in my review that I never would've thought that she ever had a problem with her body image! She's beautiful, stunning and has a gorgeous body to be able to wear all those cute little revealing outfits! I'm so glad that she got the partner that she did because she's brought her out of her shell regarding her image and she also knew JoJo's potential in performing and her dancing ability and has pushed her to do these hard routines! What I SEE IN HER FUTURE IS SHE WILL WIN THAT MIRROR BALL TROPHY!!🏆SHE'S THAT GOOD!!

Stephanie M, I could not believe that she wasn't confident in her appearance! Here's this stunning beautiful girl with a gorgeous body that can pull off wearing all those revealing little outfits!! It took her partner Jenna to have her look in the mirror and see how beautiful she really is! I think growing up before she became famous, that she probably dressed "boyish" and in my opinion, that maybe there were these girlie girls that were popular in their own little "MEAN GIRL CLIQUE" (like the "MEAN GIRLS" movies) that may have picked on her (and others) put her down for her boyish apparel and may have said mean things about her image that WERE NOT TRUE!! You all know how mean some girls can be in school! Right? They can hurt someone badly by their comments.

JoJo is a lesbian but her partner Jenna Johnson, on Dancing with the Stars, is straight and has been "with" (the HUNK) Val Chmerkovskiy (also from Dancing With The Stars) since back in 2020 and they had moved into their first house together. What a sweet love story! I love the fact that Jenna was opened minded and didn't mind being the FIRST EVER same sex dance performers! That didn't mean that JENNA was gay, just JoJo is gay.

This was really nice to watch. Having that older mentor for Jojo has helped her so much. Everyone thinks she's so confident in herself as she's always had that certain image but she had her own insecurities.

JoJo has been living in the limelight for so long as a child/teen superstar that it's refreshing to see that she's actually down-to-earth. It's also enlightening to hear that she suffers from basic body image issues and insecurities like the rest of us. She might be bigger than life but her heart is even bigger!
Jojo is a really affectionate person so that is why she seems so close to her coach. As a longtime fan of jojo you know she is just a loving bright ball of energy ❤️🌈🌈💖

Aww so beautiful to have a role model to show Jojo how to feel comfortable. It's so difficult for young women, and Jojo has such a look that do many would die for, it's hard to see her lacking confidence.
ODDLY ENOUGH... as fascinating and lovely as it was to see and hear JoJo open herself up in this,... what I appreciated the most was Lauren Zima's interviewing technique.
All too often, interviewers seem to be too in love with their own celebrity... they ask questions and make vapid observations instead of keeping it simple and listening to the answers that we fans want to hear. But Lauren sensitively and unsensationally encouraged and coaxed JoJo to be both forthcoming as well as herself, without badgering or offending her.

I can't with them. Everytime I think I can't like them more they prove me wrong. They are both so sweet and they couldn't have been better matched as partners and even more as friends. They really lift eachother up and that's the best kind of friendship and I think it really shows in their dances. I like some of the other dance pairs but none of their chemistry comes even close to Jenna and Jojos in my opinion.

My fiancé is former professional dancer. He was dancing for 25+ years and I showed him Jojo and usually with these tv competitions he is kind of reserved but he said she is really good even asked if she is profesional and loved their freestyle.
