Just when you thought you knew everything about EARLY Madonna, a whole bunch of earlier Madonna appears out of nowhere. I'm now waiting for a string of unknown 70's Albums to surface. Madonna the hippy years.

En verdad esta canción tiene tanta frescura que sin problemas pudo haber salido hace 30, 20, 10 años o un poco menos o incluso ahora mismo 😱

    lyrics;
Oh it feels so nice to say your name
you've captured me I'm not the same
and when your standing here it makes no sense i lose all my self confidence and i know about your reputation
    baby i don't care you're such a sweet sensation
won't you take me for your lover, I don't want to have another
won't you take me for your lover, I don't want to have another
I want you I want you I want you I want you
And/Babe/You don't know what you've done to me
I'm feeling (going) weaker at the knees
And though i took my chance when i tossed the dice i didn't think it would be this nice
i never fall in love, i'm much too clever but you stole my heart and i'm yours to keep forever
won't you take me for your lover, i don't want to have another
won't you take me for your lover, i don't want to have another
I want you I want you I want you I want you
Someone like you just won't do and i don't want them anyway
I want you I want you I want you I want you
Won't you take me for your lover, i don't want to have another
Won't you take me for your lover, i don't want to have another
Someone like you just won't do (no) and I don't want them anyway)
I want you I want you I want you I want you
-- this feels like the sequel to Open Your Heart

Yeah -- Gwen is a major Madonna fan so that totally makes sense. It reminds me of some early Blondie songs, like "Sunday Girl." This song, plus the awesome, edgy new wave version of "Burning Up" that is floating around TH-cam, show Madonna's versatility, and they show how Madonna was still trying to figure out her sound at this early stage. I really, really wish that the fantastic new wave version of " Burning Up" had made it onto the album.

@coursestudent You are totally right. This sounds like an outtake from the first album put out by Scandal. It's sort of generic rock meets early new wave sound. Imagine if she had stuck with this sound...she would not have become the most successful female recording artist in pop history.

Yep, the sound is very reminiscent of Tracey Ullman. It's worth noting though that Tracey's 60s-tinged album came out in 1983 and this was a full two years before. I like this, a side of Madonna I've never heard before.

@toscano alexandre Have you noticed it's almost always female singers who are judged by their voices and very little else? Neil Young, David Byrne, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed to name just a few, have very limited vocal ranges, questionable pitch, some of them flat out can't sing in key and yet that never prevents them from being recognised as major talents. Now Madonna was writing her own material in the early days and by the time Like A Prayer was released it was clear she was a brilliant lyricist, had great melodic sensibility and was no mean producer herself. On that album alone, she displayed great vocal range, astonishing emotional depth and an ability to sing very different types of songs: Express Yourself, Like a Prayer, Oh Father, Promise to Try, Cherish, Spanish Eyes, Keep it Together, Till Death Do Us Part. All so different but she nails them all. Rant over. But I feel better for it!

Blondie was great but Debbie Harry for all her charisma and talent wasn’t exactly known for being any kind of vocal powerhouse. She had a unique, expressive, and easily identifiable sound that made up for it, though. Basically like Madonna.
