I love Madonna's vocals here , especially when she says 'You think I'm not that strong'. With final production and a decent mix, bringing her vocals more upfront it would've been amazing.
This is an unbelievably beautiful song that Madonna could still release if she would stop trying to be all new age and experimental. The depth of her voice has such richness... Love this track.. 🌹
Can I just say Warner should open their vault and hand over all the amazing "unreleased" Madonna songs to the Fans on CD releases! It's absurd, there are so many now! I also adore the demo for Each time you break my heart, which did not make the final cut for True Blue and was given to Nick Kamen.
OMFG!!! Como eu nunca ouvi falar dessa música antes? É impressionante como fã da Madonna continua aprendendo e descobrindo sobre ela anos após anos. Sou fã desde 2008 e não fazia ideia dessa demo, simplesmente estou apaixonada. A voz dela ta incrivelmente linda.
I really wish she would put out a new album and collaborate with her old crew like Patrick Leonard, Shep Pettibone etc. I miss her raw voice and great ballads
I hope so too. All of her albums are apparently being re-released next year, now she is back with Warner's. The press release says that she is personally curating each album release and track list. I hope it's not just remixes tacked on the initial album.
This sounds like a Motown homage updated and re-invigorated for the nineties. And Madonna's vocals are crystal clear, light and sexy yet full of emotion. She probably made the right decision to leave it off Bedtime Stories as it is at odds with the whole languorous vibe on that album. Still, as a single I think she would have had a chart topper with it.
It was supposed to be for Bedtime Stories, but had strong True Blue vibes. The song is lovely, just not right for the album, and Gary Barlow made it amazing.
On May 10 1997, Gary Barlow’s Love Won’t Wait hit #1 on the UK Singles chart. The track was the lead single from the former Take That singer’s debut solo album, Open Road. The song was written by Madonna & Shep Pettibone during an early 1994 writing session for what would evolve into Madonna’s Bedtime Stories album. After recording a handful of demos with Pettibone, Madonna decided to shift musical directions. While some of Madonna’s lyrics from the Pettibone sessions would be reworked into songs that would appear on Bedtime Stories, the excellent Love Won’t Wait remained shelved until it was submitted to Gary Barlow’s manager for consideration. Strangely, Barlow’s single release credited only Shep Pettibone as the song’s writer, with no mention of Madonna or her publishing company, Webo Girl, Inc. This was subsequently corrected in the liner notes for Barlow’s album, Open Road, with both Madonna & Pettibone receiving credit. Madonna’s soulfully delivered original demo version of Love Won’t Wait leaked online a few years after Barlow’s version was released.
I take into account that British Charts are nearly as pathetic as in France. The song is good, but sung by a talentless BoysBand singer, it's deplorable...
I love bedtime stories and this song and honesty should be included in the album.. because both sounds sound like the album bedtime stories.. a mixed of rap, electronic.. everything.. madonna is a good singer who knows to mix different kind of styles just one album..
when this song was released back in 96 or 97 by Gary Barlow, i knew it was written by Madonna. I did'nt know that this song was meant for the bedtime stories album. This sounds fresh even though it was years ago. Thanks for posting!
When I listened to the Gary Barlow song 'Love Won't Wait'for the first time way back in 1997, I knew that this song wasn't written for a male singer, the lyrics clearly are meant to be sung by a woman. So when I found out in the early 2000's that it originally was a sung by Madonna, I wasn't surprised at all.
Never heard this track before. Thanks for posting this. Actually I'm not well aware in her unreleased songs. Shame on me! Very beautiful song - reminds me the 80's
Madonna should have released this on Bedtime Stories!!! I'm so fucking pissed that she didn't; it would have been another U.K. hit for her! Her vocals shine resplendantly in this song.
Great track... It has that TSOP, Salsoul type of a sound and totally different from the sound that she was representing at that time 👍 but I think it would have been a hit too. Hell, it's my girl, Madonna!
I have always loved the Gary Barlow version, and still do, but Madonna's version is more sophisticated - especially with the discordant/minor chords under 'cos I believed you etc' the tension between the melody and the chords gives more weight to what she's singing - that this person was an ass, and the singer was in their power for a while, but not anymore. But it's not the simple 'empowered' version GAry makes it out to be, it highlights that she's still scarred by it, which is more real and sophisticated. But that's not surprising, as much as I love Gary, he's not a match for Madonna's artistry.
Yeah unfortunately Gary had become a slave to what the record label wanted him to sound like, he didn't have much input in production. That's why his second solo album was a disaster.
this is a great version of Love Won't Wait but nothing beats Gary Barlow's Version I'm sorry i love the way Madonna sang it it was so beautiful and i do love this bubblegum pop version and Gary's version does not suck but i love both versions it doesn't matter about who's versions are better it was really nice of Madonna to give this amazing song to Gary and i love the way Gary covered it i love his voice he sang this song so perfect i do love Madonna's version but i love Gary's version more
A carefree song for Madonna. Nice and relaxing in a grooving kind of way. lets grab a Pina Colada and sway with the Palm Trees with a slight breeze and a Sunset on a beautiful beach .I'll meet you all there Cheers
This song was left off Bedtime Stories simply because it's not as good as the tracks that did make the album, but also because it fits nowhere on the record. It's such a cohesive set of songs and this being anywhere would spoil its fluency. Other songs left off the album such as Your Honesty and Let Down Your Guard do still fit the mood and sound of Bedtime Stories.
I remember reading in the commentary section of ITVs the Chart Show whilst GBs version was no 1 that this was a Madonna cover and that it must come as a shock that she allowed GB to cover this considering the hundreds of artists she's refused over the years...........
Love this version. I heard it many years ago but forgot it had found its way onto here. I don't dislike Gary Barlow but this original demo version has so much more emotion and feeling to it. Madonna always does it better!
whoa! for the album bed time stories?! man, being a demo, she was excellent here! should have been, dang, should have been, lol! bed time stories is one strong concept album, her 3rd best album in fact.
The lyrics are slightly different in Gary Barlow's version. Incidentally, there must be a few Americans posting on here who are wondering who on Earth he is.
I like both versions actually. I do prefer hearing a man singing it but that's just my opinion. It is all down to personal opinion and taste pretty much.
Gary Barlow was forced to sing this song at the time by his record company . Maybe that's the reason why his version is less emotional than Madonna's, even though this one is a demo version. Gary never sang this song anymore, Madonna too.
Madonna's version feels more personal and feminine, like she's really living the words because she wrote them herself. Gary B's take is catchy and well-done, but it feels like he's just telling someone else's love story-it doesn't hit you the same way.
It was a Number 1 hit for Gary Barlow... She should have had babyface mix it a little more, and it would've fit right in with the other songs in the already too short album and became another #1 for her instead
Madonna does Motown. This was a missed opportunity. Such a fantastic track.
I had no idea her lower register could sound like this! Has a nice velvety tone. Awesome full lows. Reminds me of Cher... Colour me impressed.
real talent! even her demos sound classic
This will certainly be a Big Hit for her. The question is when (later in her carrier or even after her passing)
It was already a big hit in the UK. It was Take That singer Gary Barlow's number one! ❤️
@@robertfraser9873yeah Madonna wrote the song and gave it to him
I love Madonna's vocals here , especially when she says 'You think I'm not that strong'. With final production and a decent mix, bringing her vocals more upfront it would've been amazing.
+Anon Nymous agree, i love her vocal in this era right before she had lessons for Evita right after this album:)
Anon Nymous So good when somebody understands of production :)
The bridge is amazing. And I believed youuuu
This is an unbelievably beautiful song that Madonna could still release if she would stop trying to be all new age and experimental. The depth of her voice has such richness... Love this track.. 🌹
STOP!!!! Don't be sooo....."REDUCTIVE"🙄
Amen brother - Amen
This would have been a great radio song for summer '94, following "I'll Remember" ❤❤❤

Leo Light We all do
The Gary Barlow's version was a UK number-one single. I wonder what it would be if Madonna released the song as a single :)
Really? Gary hasn't had any talent and this song deserved a serious starring partner... I'm surprised but it's OK...
Madonna compose that aong
Love this version. Madonna at her finest.
Estas son canciones que debieron ser incluidas en Bedtime Stories, un seguro y exitoso Single #1👌
Perfection. Pure and simple.

Bem vindo ao efeito madonna😂
I love her voice in this song. We want this M please !
I really wish she would put out a new album and collaborate with her old crew like Patrick Leonard, Shep Pettibone etc. I miss her raw voice and great ballads
Her Voice sounds nothing like anymore this due to a number of reasons but mostly because of her age
This may be my favorite madonna song ever
Same here!! Lol
I hope this song makes the final cut of a Rarities Madonna album (if she ever releases one during her lifetime).
I hope so too. All of her albums are apparently being re-released next year, now she is back with Warner's. The press release says that she is personally curating each album release and track list. I hope it's not just remixes tacked on the initial album.
Beautiful Voice.♥️
OMG this is the original song!!!!! Gary Barlow performed this song later. both are good singers. kisses
golito1977 Gary Barlow did a better job!
Well, the negative critics doesn't though the same.

As well Gary Barlows version is more swinging and lifting, makes you want to sing along to it more.

It's surprising that she withdrawn this and Your Honesty from the album.

such a gem, should have been reworked
