Born in 1958, I'm at the end of the Baby Boom era. I don't wear a high schooler's style, but I try to stay relevant and do incorporate a few trends here and there. I enjoy your body positivity and zest for life, Sierra, keep making great, fun videos!
'94 baby here and i felt this! lol these weird "generation" things are all made up anyway, therefore flawed. I don't relate to almost anything my older millennial sister (born in '82) but I relate more with my "gen z" bestie and she was born in '99 too lol.
I'm into alternative fashion so this generational style stuff doesn't really apply to me either. I feel like in this community everyone just kind of followers their own trends outside of what is going on in mainstream and then of course some people just swim against the stream just for fun and that's more than welcomed too. I still often just wear jeans and a t-shirt and don't give a fuck.
I did the same. I was a Gen Xer that wore some of those styles along with mostly vintage and alterna-riot grrrl fashion in the 90's. Weird to see it making it's rounds again.
@@maysoooo It was available on Amazon Prime in France for a moment, but it is no longer there, and I don't know if it is still available in other countries! :(
As a crochety old millennial, all the gen z outfits just feel very young. This isn’t a bad thing, and they look great on Sierra, but this is what we wore in middle/high school. The fact that so many of the trends have wrapped back around in 15-20 years is crazy.
It feels weird, right? Now I'm remembering my mom thinking flares being in during the late 90s-early 00s was weird because she was in school during the 70s
Positively ancient Gen X here and all these fashions have come and gone and come around again for me. It cracks me up to see Sierra's sweater vest and tshirt as I wore that on the daily in college. As for jeans, boyfriend, mom, dad, skinny, wear whatever you are comfortable in. I do kind of wish the french roll was back.
But trends have always been cyclical and fashion used to come back every 20 years or so. Now, thanks to the internet and social media, that cycle might be closer to every ten years. Maybe not in the mainstream, like the people you see on the street, but on things like tiktok, trends get regurgitated soo fast..
I'm a millennial 100%. Since I'm from the late 80s, I think what throws me off about Gen Z styling is that a lot of it feels like its inspired in styles considered uncool in the 80s and 90s like the preppy tennis skirt and sweatshirt combo or the mom jeans and tucked shirts. But I have to give it to Gen Z for looking a heck of a lot more comfortable than we did!
My grandma always said, “styles come back around every 20 years” and she has very much been proven with all the current trends lol I’m also a cusp millennial (kinda? being born in 1994 feels like it) and I like aspects of both, but they’re just different personal styles!
It's so hard to compare those styles because it's basically comparing teens to women in their late 20's....you look younger in the gen z outfits because that's what the kids are wearing and you look older and more mature in the millennial outfits. Also some gen z styles look very "dress up" to me and the millennial styles were more about comfort and speaks volumes to what the mindsets of the millennial generation is. Soooo interesting, but I definitely gravitate more towards the gen z outfits now-a-days just because they feel more unisex. Even your body language changed between the styles!
I would love to see a video of trying grunge or edgy clothes cause it's so hard to find plus sized girls in edgy clothes and it's out of your comfort zone which would be fun!
I kinda hate how everyone takes the millennial vs. gen z battle waaay to seriously (Not you Sierra, but the ppl on TikTok). It's stupid and it seems like some people don't understand the concept of fashion, that some thing comes in and out of fashion all the time! Correct me if i'm wrong about the fashion thing! But i've always hated generation battles 😅 Guess I just don't like arguments hahhah
@@kathill3452 that is true! But I also feel like gen z can write mean comments about the style millennials had. As I said earlier, I just feel like people forget that there are trends in fashion!
I think the big divider here is because they are wearing fashion that we can remember from the early 2000s and I flat out refuse to go back to that - whereas usually when styles come back around it’s been a longer period (like the 70s stuff from a couple of summers ago) so a wider range of generations are open to it
The strange thing about the generational fashion discussion is that it doesn’t represent the reality. As millenials we wore clothes that were inspired by popstars and fashionicons that were actually most likely to be boomers. The same goes for gen-z, they were inspired by influencers/icons that are sometimes millenials…. The divide isn’t that clear i think :)
What also occurs to me is just a touch of classism. I feel like a lot of fashion trends and photos online are geared toward those who can afford to keep up with them. For every Instagram poser on the bleeding edge of trends, there’s kids who just have low key clothes, as it’s always been.
Am I the only one that feels like there is a huge gap between the gen z that was born from 1996-2005, and the gen z that was born after that!! Like there are so many things I grew up with in the early 2000s, that half of gen z has no idea what is!!
yes! especially if you are not from the US (or some other technologically developed country). like as a foreign gen z kid i can recall a lot of things american millenials associate with their childhood
It's like that will all of the generations. I'm in the younger age bracket of millennials and there's a big difference between us and the older millennials. They didn't grow up with the same entertainment or level of technology. Older millennials would've been more on myspace in their teen years, younger millennials on facebook. Younger had access to internet and wider variety of video games from a young age, older millennials didn't and grew up kind of offline. Different video game consoles. Different tv shows, music etc.
Tbh thredUP is still up charging items you can easily find at a thrift store by like 3X. They are(and other companies) a huge reason why thrift stores have all increased their prices. I hate it, but it can be convenient if you’re looking for something very specific.
I feel like thredup can charge more because of their filtering features and because they do seem to have bigger brands more accessible and in good condition. I'm sure you can find a lot of nice things at a thrift store (I used to go all the time and would find absolute gems), but it's kind of like going to a thrift store with a curated selection or a personal shopper. That would cost you more irl too. I agree that thredup is a lil pricey for second hand clothes still and I can't speak on thrift stores raising prices, but I can also understand why thredup charges more for their service. So, yeah, I agree with you for the most part. 😁
ThredUp is more of a consignment shop than a thrift store. Because consignment shops pay out to the people who provide them clothing, they’ve always been more expensive than thrift shops which usually depend on donations. It’s a completely different financial model than say, goodwill. Consignment shops have existed for just as long as traditional thrift stores (if not longer). The changing price in thrift stores is a combination of inflation and corporate greed. No reason to blame these things on ThredUp.
I actually like their pieces because to me they still seem reasonable but I get what you are saying, here the thrift stores have become so over priced that sometimes it is just cheaper to buy new which is such a shame because charities like the cancer society or the council for the blind then don't profit items just sit there and people who always steadily bought items each week and made the shops a good few thousands in profit no longer come back. I saw a very basic Karen Millen designer dress in the thrift store couple of days ago for 1.5K and it nearly blew my socks off. Absolutely crazy it was nothing special except some crazy person online probably put a totally unattainable price on it and now they check everything online and many shops with their "always start pricing high policy and mark items down in a couple of months" make the shops go under and often items are then just binned by the thrift store as a result. Totally crazy.
How you part your hair should be entirely dependent on what is most flattering to your face shape, haircut/style, and personal preference and not based on what generation you fall into. Been rocking a center part since 1994.
I used to have a middle part when it was "fashion" and then a friend of mine once did my hair with a side part and I've been rocking it since. My face is too long and just looks weird with a middle part imo.
I'd like to see a LA vs San Diego outfits vid! Or maybe other cities would be cool too! Being in TX, we all know that people from Dallas dress starkly different from people from Austin etc.
I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I’m a native Houstonian, and lived in DFW for a short time, then in Austin for 9 years. There are such drastic differences. A Dallas blonde will always have a space in my heart.
1989 Millennial here - I for sure pull towards all the millennial outfits but you look cute in both. I could not pull off the Gen Z outfits. I have adopted some straight and wider jeans but as a curly girl this side part is going nowhere!
1985, but never got into skinny jeans in the first place, I don't think they were really even much of a thing when was in high school. Give me low rise bootcut jeans any day. Skinnies always limited my movement at the knee too tight there and on calves.
I was born in 88 and I don't understand why they say we are more towards straight leg jeans. Where I'm from it was baggy overalls and huge jenco jean wide legs pants. The wider the "cooler". Lol
Millennial with a millennial style. I do wear a variety of jeans though. Skinny jeans are for loose or long sweaters or crewnecks. Looser fits are for tighter fitting tops.
I'm 30 and a true blue millennial. I love the Gen Z outfits and do think they're adorable, but they're definitely NOT for me. I'll never give up my high rise skinny jeans and side part. 😂
It's super strange as a "millennial" to see almost everything I wore in middle school (grades 6-8) come back in style. I think people should feel free to wear whatever they feel comfortable in. Both styles have good parts and bad.
Yes! And idk about you but since this fashion started making a come back I fell back into it. Honestly I hate the current millennial style and now find myself buying the "gen z" clothes
@@disneyworlddreamer I disagree. I look at Gen z and think "been there; done that." But you do you. Ultimately, regardless of trends, everyone always looks better when they follow their own style😊
I'm a Millennial/GenZ cusper too, but I lean way more toward the millennial trends because they transition better to business casual office wear. The GenZ style is so youthful! Love that for them, but I don't think I could transition those trends to the office without emphasizing that I'm baby!
I’m a 1990 millennial and 100% relate to millennial fashion. Most of the gen z trends make me think of my awkward middle school years and it’s way too soon for me to want to recreate those choices 😅
Agreed! It’s exactly like the 90s clothes that I’m wearing in all my awkward kid and teenage pics so I don’t wanna rewear it now lol I also had to google cheugy 😂
THIS! that tie up sweater looks cute on Sierra, but I had a cropped powder blue sweater just like it at age 15 to wear under a matching camisole OR leotard (I took dance) and nothing was more awkward :( is it supposed to be attractive because it looks like a middle schooler trying to be flirty outfit? kinda creepy. I wonder if the kids still like licentious literature like lolita. zellenials or whatever they call themselves seem to like a lot of stuff from 1996-1997 and think they invented it like Clinique Black Honey. come on, your mom and Liv Tyler made it the success it is so it wouldn't be discontinued and your thin mouth would find it when you came "of age" to wear Almost Lipstick, little dorks.
I'm a millennial and I remember back when the bucket hats were popular back then, they were more of a nerdy style. And now they are popular but in a trendy way. If that made any sense.
Oh my god thats so true! Maybe that’s why I hate them so much I just can’t get behind it and I don’t find them cute at all. They just look… I don’t even know how to explain it really, but I’d much rather ware a baseball cap and put my pony tale though the back. As someone born at the tail end of 1995, I feel you when you say you’re on the cusp!! I feel too old for gen z trends but too young for millennial trends. The leggings and cardigan outfit was me to a T, but now the lose jeans and crop top outfits are me right now. I used to love skinny jeans too but now…sweatpants are more my vibe. I’ll never get into bucket hats but side parts are always my go to! I’m always torn and wow….the struggles of being a zillenial/on the cusp!
My immediate thought when you put on the streetwear look was 'wow, she looks like tana mongeau' and it was by far the most unique reaction I've ever had to a look on this channel. I hate the concept of cheugy and I don't really like the battle of the generations thing because sometimes I feel like it's just more women hating on other women's choices. Like calling a girl a basic bitch in 2012 is the same vibe as cheugy now. And that is something I really would like to see go out of fashion, lol. This could all be because I am a very unstylish and sensitive millennial, of course. Though I'll be happy if the pleated skirts being on trend means they'll finally show up in plus sizes now.
Elder millennials remember when baggy jeans were in the first time in the 90s in our teens. I personally am loving it. While I wear skinny jeans, I have always hated looking like an ice cream cone and feeling like squeezed sausage. So thank goodness for the baggy Jean return. Outfit number 2 is so 90s. Like 1997 all over again. This jeans are everything. Yay for wide legs being back. Airforce are VERY 90s too. These kids acting like millennials don't know. 😂 Also keep in mind that most Gen z people are super young. So the way they dress is super teeny. The fanny pack and bucket hat together really say teenager to me. You're in your mid 20s which means you are in that change over from kid to adult. That's normal. You'll find yourself pulling away from that more and more now.
I’m a millennial but love the gen z style, i was too young to wear all the cool y2k styles when they first were poppin off over 20 years ago (I was 10 in 2000) so it’s kinda cool to be able to live out all my old fashionista dreams
Same!! Was born in 1990. We were wearing low rise flare jeans and chunky heels. Skinny jeans didn’t really come in until 2007-2008 when I was graduating high school and I had to force myself to let go of flares and embrace skinny jeans. It’s so weird to see it all coming back around so quickly but also exciting like you said. Couldn’t get away with wearing belly shirts and short skirts when I was 11 lol
Everyone here seems to be a millennial but I was born in 2005 and definitely prefer the gen z outfits- I still own some skinny jeans and a circle skirt but I've definitely stopped wearing them as much as I used to
i disagree that skinny jeans are millennial, i literally see tonnes of people our age wearing them where i live anyway. they look cute when styled with the right fit!
tbh, a lot of millennials, myself included, gave up on skinny jeans when leggings became trendy. I was in high school when leggings started to trend (that was 10 years ago), though at that time many people wore long tops to cover their butts (and then eventually we stopped caring about that, ha!). I was super against leggings at first because to me they were too revealing (what a prude i was!). But once I wore them in college and they were so comfy, i didnt care and they became a staple in my wardrobe since xD Personally, none of her millennial outfits except for the skirt one described what i would wear as a millennial myself, but I think my fashion sense may be somewhat influenced by gen z as well, just because you see a lot of that on social media.
@@nocturnerose7696 for some reason jeggings never looked right on me. But they are definitely a good compromise! I wish I could find some high waisted ones.

I was born ‘96 as well and am on the cusp. I used to dress super millennial but during the pandemic I fell in love with baggy oversized tees and more street wear so I think I lean more gen z now. But I’m never giving up my skinny jeans!
I also preferred her in the millennial skirt. I loved a pleated schoolgirl style as a teen (I was born in 1985), but the circle skirt seems to be more flattering. There are a lot of things coming out that are because of Gen-Z and it brings me back to high school, but they style it differently than I would wear. Also can we please get back true low rise pants, never got on board for skinnies nor high rise. Give me my low rise bootcut. I don't want jeans up to my boobs and I want to be able to bend my knees, skinnies just don't fit me right and I feel like I lose my shape in a high rise.
Same here! I don't get it. Other people rock the Gen Z style but it's just not my personal thing. I miss when Target had millennial style stuff, now it's more Gen Z...but maybe that's better for my wallet 😂
I think you looked adorable in all the outfits. I'm just "old" and wear what's comfortable. I'm over it!! Although I do like to through on some accessories and cute shoes to give my outfits some spice!
It’s so funny that you actually look younger in the Gen Z outfits! It really goes to show how much current trends can influence how you perceive people.
This is a convenient time for my lunch break haha. I'm going to say right away as an elder Gen Z I definitely relate to both, as well and this seems like a fun concept.
I’m Gen Z and I fell SO in love with bucket hats this past summer!!! I personally say leggings all the way, both types of jeans, and the gen z outfit with the skirt because the other one not casual enough hahahaaaaa
I will never ever touch a skinny jeans again, not after I've felt the comfort of mom jeans and wide-legged jeans and flared jeans. They also look so much better on me and I'm just so over the skinny jeans haha
I also just realized that Gen Z basically is wearing what Gen X’ers and Millenials were wearing in the 90’s and early 2000’s. It’s like a preppy grunge.
The clothes all look cute on you, but the side part is much more flattering. Not a popular opinion, I know, but very few people look better in a middle part than they do a side part.
I agree, I much prefer side parts on most people, myself included, I kinda have Jesus vibes with a middle part 😂a lot of people who do the middle part also curl their hair all the time and that compliments the style. But people can do whatever they want, I'm not sure why there's such a battle about it like pineapple on pizza lol such an insignificant argument.
Okay, so I've been "jeans and graphic tee" since, like, second grade. Fashion has never been my thing. That being said, I consistently loved the Millennial outfits. Maybe that's just remembering what the popular girls were wearing when I was in school in the... ...oh God... ...late 1900s. 💀
I stopped wearing jeans in 2010 when I had my first kiddo, and I’m so glad I’ve missed both the skinny jean AND mom jean tends because straight leg boot cuts are the only way for me 😂
I am gen z born in early 2000's. I find the gen z outfits nicer because the millennial outfits just feel old to me. Like I saw people wear that when I was 12 so I find it boring and the gen z clothes feel like a newer style (obviously not completely original since fashion trends cycle like every 20 years or something like that but I didn't grow up seeing it so feels new and interesting to me).
I loved you in the side part! It just suits your face so much better. As for the clothing, you look good in all of the outfits, especially the thread-ups!
I'm a cusper too, born in 97. Definitely feel ties to both younger millennials and older gen Z's, definitely don't fully fit into either. My fashion tends more towards millennial (skinny jeans and cardigans are my loves) but I'm also totally into the mom/straight jeans because I love being comfortable haha
okay 1) these were all ADORABLE on you!! 2) the crossbody fanny pack really is KILLER for snacks!! i did that when i was on a trip where we were outside and visiting different locations a lot and it was truly a lifesaver. cannot recommend enough!!
100% gen X and I literally wear what I feel comfy in whether that be leggings or jeans just depends how I feel that morning! Can’t see me wanting to wear what gen Z wear I’ve been there done that in the 90s 🤣
I do not understand ill fitting jeans and high waters and nerdy glasses. Literally everything that was considered horrible fashion in high school is now in style 🤦♀️
I would love to see a ‘styling breastfeeding friendly clothes’ I always feel so frumpy wearing breastfeeding friendly clothes and would love some advice on how to style! Please?
As a "geriatric millennial" born in 1982, I hate to have to tell GenZ that we already wore all of this stuff in the 90's (the poorly fitting jeans, clunky sneakers, elastic-ankle sweatpants, bucket hats, tiny sweaters) and it was just as unflattering then as it is now...
Millenial mama here! 🙋🏻♀️ I’m not in between generations and I like things from both styles. I like the skinny jeans so I can wear boots and big, comfy cardigans, jackets, shakets or loose button ups shirts and I gravitate towards mom jeans when I wear more fitted tops, t-shirts and bodysuits. I like the balance. I also prefer the side part, I think because our faces are not symmetrical the side part can be more flattering on more people. The middle part is hard to rock (I look like grumpy Snape with a middle part) never been a fan of crop tops or fanny packs (not even during the 90’s) but I like the bucket hat. Great video Sierra.
Seeing as the Gen Z folks are only beginning their adult life and millennials are already well into their adult life ('91 millennial here), the millennial looks all seem more professional/grown up to me. The casual look doesn't quite stick with this, but the other ones, definitely. The casual look seems more like: millennial is comfy time and Gen Z is trying to kinda/sorta dress up.
I feel like even the casual look looks more grown up because it doesn't show that much skin or doesn't put focus on body shape and size, which I feel like comes with age too...
I was also born in 1996 and I’d say my style is somewhere in the middle! The millennial outfits were very chueegy but more sophisticated looking on you. Definitely “mom” vibess. The gen z outfits looked like something high schoolers would wear. Nothing wrong with either! Also, your hair looks beautiful.
The Gen Z vs Millennial fashion thing is kinda silly. Like ofc people in their late 20s-30s aren't going to be wearing the same stuff a high schooler is wearing. And a middle part looks horrible on some people (i'm that some people). We should encourage each other to wear what makes us happy. It's not a competition.
Thank you, well said. I'm considered a millennial and sometimes find that I question things that I like because they make me feel uncool. Why cant we all just wear what makes us feel good, and stop saying that something is cool or uncool? Like the things in my wardrobe that I just considered basic essentials are now uncool lol
@@felishametsch6643 if you ask me, clothing is something that should make you feel good about yourself. If you look good, you feel good. Some of the gen z outfits are too shapeless for that, like the baggy jeans. I like leggings because they're both comfy and flattering, though they are ofc very casual xD.
I’m a millennial I don’t follow trends . I prefer skinny jeans and jeggings .They fit better on me than boot cut is so baggy on me. I mostly wear shorts or capris and t shirts when the weather is warm I don’t like high waisted jeans or low rise jeans I wore in high school in the from 2003 to 2007.I like the mid-rise jeans. My friend her daughter is 13 and wear band t shirts or anime shirts with skirts from hot topic with doc Martin style boots.wears fake eyelashes and pink eye shadow a lot.
Exactly! I continually see videos of gen z kids making fun of millennial style and how we’re “uncool” when most of us would look borderline ridiculous in current edgy fashion trends. Wear what makes you happy! The younger generations will always make fun of the older for one reason or another and I think the style debate is pretty harmless. Also yes to the looking terrible with a middle part. I look like the 4th member of Hanson which is not what I’m going for.
I’m on a different cusp - between Gen X & Millennials. Born in 78, so I was a teenager in the 90’s and in my 20’s in the early 2000’s. It’s so weird seeing fashions from your youth being trendy again. 😄
I'm a 34 yr old Millennial, but I also fall in the middle. I think it's because the things that are trending now and what Gen z is wearing were what I wore in middle school then I aged into the skinny jeans and leggings trend. Now that the y2k fashion is back I'm living my middle school dream as an adult 😳 🤣🤷♀️
I’m born in 97 and I loved the look you did when you combined your fave pieces from the gen z and millennial looks !! It was so me. I definitely relate to not being a millennial or a gen z

im born in 1999, i consider myself a "zalinneial" or whatever she said XD but yeah my style is definitely more millennial. hard side part forever, have never even thought about switching lol
Gen Z is younger, and so it feels more relevant. In the way fashion is relevant. I’m a xillennial (1982) I’ve seen this happen before. Millennial fashion feels more comfortable to me as an older lady, but the gen Z fashion feels fresher. Though mom jeans are with out a doubt superior to low/mid rise skinny jeans any day of the week.
I’m a cusp too!!! I agreed with a lot of your struggles. I feel RIDICULOUS in gen z outfits. I have a hard time feeling like I’m going to a festival when I dress like gen z. But I think the outfits are cute. I think millennial outfits are just a bit more practical.
Who’s going to tell Gen Z that their style is what older Millennials wore when we were younger? I love the Gen Z style probably because it’s so nostalgic of what I wore in middle school & high school in late 90s/early 00s.
That's funny because as a '96 baby i didn't really grow up wearing stuff like this. When y2k fashion was happening I was watching Blue's Clues lol. I will say that I think street wear is much more modern but I do love all the 90s and 2000s influences on Gen Z's fashion :D
I’m a millennial/gen z cusp lol but my mom and I were talking about that the other day. Any other '99 babies sitting here like "I just wear jeans and shirts what do you mean my fashion dictates my generation?"
'94 baby here and i felt this! lol these weird "generation" things are all made up anyway, therefore flawed.
I don't relate to almost anything my older millennial sister (born in '82) but I relate more with my "gen z" bestie and she was born in '99 too lol.
‘00 here and same here sometimes with leggings instead of jeans depending on how I’m feeling
81 baby and same. 😂 because it's true.
'98 baby here, same. I always wear shirts, jeans and boots.
I'm re-watching Buffy these days and it's absolutely crazy how the "Gen-Z" looks are just straight up outfits from the 90's :')
I did the same. I was a Gen Xer that wore some of those styles along with mostly vintage and alterna-riot grrrl fashion in the 90's. Weird to see it making it's rounds again.
Not gonna lie - born in 1990, and I'm having deja vu with the new styles.
Where did you rewatch Buffy, I’ve been looking for it
@@maysoooo It was available on Amazon Prime in France for a moment, but it is no longer there, and I don't know if it is still available in other countries! :(
As a crochety old millennial, all the gen z outfits just feel very young.
Yes! I can not bring myself to like the GenZ looks because they just bring back memories of middle school.
This is exactly what I came to say. The Gen Z style reminds me so much of what we millennials wore back in the late 90s/early 2000s.
But trends have always been cyclical and fashion used to come back every 20 years or so. Now, thanks to the internet and social media, that cycle might be closer to every ten years. Maybe not in the mainstream, like the people you see on the street, but on things like tiktok, trends get regurgitated soo fast..
This comment section is making me realize that most of Sierra’s viewers skew heavily millennial lol
Right! My thoughts exactly. I remember wearing bucket hates and wearing the crop sweaters... clueless vibes!
Agreed, "gen z" is just a mash up from the late 80's / 90's
Wait do they not know that??
The trend I hate is the sweater vests lol. I will never be able to see it as cute or cool, it just looks like a nerdy substitute teacher to me.
@@nvonedge no ..they think they invented literally everything we did in the 80’s & 90’s lol
My grandma always said, “styles come back around every 20 years” and she has very much been proven with all the current trends lol
I’m also a cusp millennial (kinda? being born in 1994 feels like it) and I like aspects of both, but they’re just different personal styles!
Millenials are up to like 40 now, it's a huge range so yeah it is a weird thing to try and make a true comparison
@@kithadfield3732 yea it's almost like she should compare what millennials wore in high school which I think would be a hoot lol
Ayyye! Also, grown women in their 30s are taking the opinion of teenagers on the internet far too seriously.
I agree! Also Gen z style is just recycled 90's/early 00's trends! Styles always repeat much like you said how trends always come and go on fashion!
I agree their is no gen z or millennial is just STYLE period 😀
Agreed!
Agreed!
this! both my little sister and I are gen z, but our childhoods are so vastly different that we might as well be from different generations
yes! especially if you are not from the US (or some other technologically developed country). like as a foreign gen z kid i can recall a lot of things american millenials associate with their childhood
I don’t understand why she still collaborates with this brand...everyone knows they are no good
I actually like their pieces because to me they still seem reasonable but I get what you are saying, here the thrift stores have become so over priced that sometimes it is just cheaper to buy new which is such a shame because charities like the cancer society or the council for the blind then don't profit items just sit there and people who always steadily bought items each week and made the shops a good few thousands in profit no longer come back.
I don’t have thrift stores where I live, so thredup is the only way for me to shop secondhand 🥲
How you part your hair should be entirely dependent on what is most flattering to your face shape, haircut/style, and personal preference and not based on what generation you fall into. Been rocking a center part since 1994.
Same! When side parts were trendy I still did a middle part cause I don’t enjoy the side parts of my forehead showing
yes! I've been saying this! Not everyone looks good with a middle part and vise versa. Parts shouldn't be a trend.
Yes! I have a very oval face and a slightly wonky widows peak and a cows lick on one side. A middle part looks terrible on my face!
I live in Texas too and it blows my mind how true your statement is 😂
Yes that would be so much fun!!
I’m also from texas (Dallas area) and you are spot on lol
Lol I live in San Antonio but agree 😂
I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I’m a native Houstonian, and lived in DFW for a short time, then in Austin for 9 years. There are such drastic differences. A Dallas blonde will always have a space in my heart.
1989 Millennial here - I for sure pull towards all the millennial outfits but you look cute in both. I could not pull off the Gen Z outfits. I have adopted some straight and wider jeans but as a curly girl this side part is going nowhere!
I'm a 1989 millennial too! ❤️
Same but I'm '83...
Lol
@@amanda9301 same! I just saw your comment. Low rise huge wide leg pants were the thing! Or baggy overalls with one side unbuttoned lol!
Millennial with a millennial style. I do wear a variety of jeans though. Skinny jeans are for loose or long sweaters or crewnecks. Looser fits are for tighter fitting tops.
exactly!! the jeans looks were both cute bc the loose cardigan went with skinny jeans, and the tight cardigan with loose jeans. 👌🏼👌🏼
Yes this! I’m all about baggy on bottom tighter fitting on top, and baggy on top with tighter fitted trousers! Just for me it balances me out best!

It's super strange as a "millennial" to see almost everything I wore in middle school (grades 6-8) come back in style. I think people should feel free to wear whatever they feel comfortable in. Both styles have good parts and bad.
I think Millenials did the gen z looks in the late 90s early 00's when the gen z were just toddlin' 😆
Right? We left it there for a reason lol
Exactly! Been there, done that! I hated them when I was a kid, so I don’t want to to repeat them as an adult.
Na maybe they were toddlin but i also did not were styles in primary school... I wore things my mom put on me and thats it 😂
The fact that Gen Z style straddles the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's is sooo bizarre to me
I'm a Millennial/GenZ cusper too, but I lean way more toward the millennial trends because they transition better to business casual office wear. The GenZ style is so youthful! Love that for them, but I don't think I could transition those trends to the office without emphasizing that I'm baby!
Gen Z is so retro and cute! I love the white socks and sneakers trend! It’s so 80’s and early 90’s!
I’m a 1990 millennial and 100% relate to millennial fashion. Most of the gen z trends make me think of my awkward middle school years and it’s way too soon for me to want to recreate those choices 😅
Yes!
100000% agree
1990 millenial cheugy yay (yes, urban dictionary had to teach me what a cheugy is, sue me)
Agreed! It’s exactly like the 90s clothes that I’m wearing in all my awkward kid and teenage pics so I don’t wanna rewear it now lol
I also had to google cheugy 😂
1000% agree!!
THIS! that tie up sweater looks cute on Sierra, but I had a cropped powder blue sweater just like it at age 15 to wear under a matching camisole OR leotard (I took dance) and nothing was more awkward :( is it supposed to be attractive because it looks like a middle schooler trying to be flirty outfit? kinda creepy.
It just feel so much cuter to me if I need to ware a hat at all.
I'm on the cusp (1997), and relate more to some millennial but I am ALL FOR Gen z fashion and trends 😭
Lol.. I’m from 90’ but I would never be seen in the millennial outfit. I think American millennial fashion is EXTREMELY different to that in Europe, or at least here in Scandinavia. You obviously look gorgeous in both, but I think this whole battle thing is “American Millennials VS American Gen Z” 🌼
Literally everything gen z wears was worn by millennials like 15 - 20 years ago, millennials stopped wearing it cause it wasn’t cool any more lol 😂

Also keep in mind that most Gen z people are super young. So the way they dress is super teeny. The fanny pack and bucket hat together really say teenager to me. You're in your mid 20s which means you are in that change over from kid to adult. That's normal. You'll find yourself pulling away from that more and more now.
The most millennial thing about you Sierra is your tattoo 😂❤️

The millennial skirt outfit was so pretty on you! I’m a millennial and I just don’t “get” most of the latest fashion trends. But to each their own. 😉😂
I personally can't stand Y2k fashion 🙈🙈

As a GenX we did most of these trends. I still love my skinny jeans and my side part! 🥰
I’m not in between generations and I like things from both styles.
I agree! I love the look of a far amount of the gen z styles but whenever I try them on I feel 16 again.
I feel like even the casual look looks more grown up because it doesn't show that much skin or doesn't put focus on body shape and size, which I feel like comes with age too...
The 1st millennial outfit's cardigan was very gen-z • but how cute was the 1st gen-z outfit

THE SQUARE POCKET JEANS ARE MAYBE MY FAV JEANS IVE EVER SEEN ON YOU SIERRA they look so cute on you and go with your style SO WELL!!!!
I look like the 4th member of Hanson which is not what I’m going for.
i'm a millennial and my fashion is 110% gen z hahaha. gen z fashion feels more chill which is more my vibe
Im fine with whatever but, I will be dead in the ground before I wear low rise jeans ever again. Absolutely nah.
My love handles could never 😂
I’m on a different cusp - between Gen X & Millennials. Born in 78, so I was a teenager in the 90’s and in my 20’s in the early 2000’s. It’s so weird seeing fashions from your youth being trendy again. 😄
As a Gen X I am glad I don't overly care about what is "in" and what is "out" anymore.
There's plenty of millennial and gen z's who don't either I'm sure XP
Same. I wear whatever the hell I want to. As long as I am comfy and feel great in it.
your hair looks really good! also loved gen z on u sm more way more flattering on your body
I'm a 34 yr old Millennial, but I also fall in the middle. I think it's because the things that are trending now and what Gen z is wearing were what I wore in middle school then I aged into the skinny jeans and leggings trend. Now that the y2k fashion is back I'm living my middle school dream as an adult 😳 🤣🤷♀️
kinda random but looooove the curtain backdrop for try ons now. it's so pleasing to watch
i love millennial fashion because it incorporates every generation’s style and you can wear whatever you want and it’s still considered “trendy”
I’m born in 97 and I loved the look you did when you combined your fave pieces from the gen z and millennial looks !! It was so me. I definitely relate to not being a millennial or a gen z
I always think of Sierra as a full-blown millennial because she has a home, husband, and child. Totally a great reminder that she isn’t that much older than a big part of her base haha 😊😇
She rocked all these looks 😍 a true cusp queen
when she said she was born in 96, i was like damn she’s only 2 years older than me but she’s so successful with a husband, house, child, etc 🤣🤣🤣
I'm 100% with toy Sierra! I'm a 1997 baby and I enjoy the new trendy Gen z looks but still love a long cardigan and skinny jeans😂🙈 and omg the Adidas shoes were my LIFE in college 😂😂😂
*you not toy
I’m a millennial (born in 1990), and I strongly prefer the millennial outfits. I have no sense of fashion, and I’m definitely not cool enough to pull off those gen z outfits 😂
your millennials looks are literally me lol. i think the last gen z look would’ve looked better with an oversized flannel and no hat. great vid!
im born in 1999, i consider myself a "zalinneial" or whatever she said XD but yeah my style is definitely more millennial. hard side part forever, have never even thought about switching lol
The crop top look that came back from my nightmare 1997 days can go straight to the pit of hell and die again any time now🤣🤣🤣.
100% good riddance to the skinny jeans
Fellow xillennial here (1978) 👋🏼
@@JenKnee423 I'm a 78 too.
Team Xennial!
She showing me pictures of her and I when I was a baby and her outfit could have been pulled from my closet the same day. I even have some of her old clothes that younger gen z kids at my job have complimented me on 😂
Agreed!
we already know lol.
Stoooopppppp. Not me being in the EXACT millennial casual outfit. All black, leggings and tee with an oversized denim jacket and a messy bun😅🤦🏽♀️
Zennials!! The inbetween group from the early to late 90s had a pretty different experience from the millenials before the 90s and gen z after the 90s.
i am obsessed with how confident you felt in both skirt looks and you looked AMAZING in both!
I’m Gen z and it’s safe to say that i’d rather eat cardboard than wear skintight/skinny jeans, lmao. MOM/FLARE/LOOSE jeans/pants FOREVER
Buahaha! The picture of you with the baguette 🥖 LOL! Nice edit.
