Good evening sir, I recently acquired a old plow that has broken handles on it. I have purchased handles through eBay and am hoping they will fit. My question for you is: how do you research the identification and history on such implements? I have found a few numerical markings but nothing referencing it's brand or build date. I would like to learn more about these implements and begin acquiring more. Any and all help is appreciated and THANK YOU for the video!
because back in the time these implements were heavily used nearly every small town had a foundry, and produced these tools it is difficult to identify the maker sometimes. Most tractor manufacturers started out making horse drawn farm equipment, and repair parts.
idk if you sell your work but just curious how much the price goes up after a complete restoration job? if you dont mind me asking? i have a whole yard full of these implements! thanks for your time!!
@@justastudentoftheworld3940 Thanks so much! ive got horrible back issues but my boredom won out and im gonna try my hand. When finished ill put a before and after video maybe you could critique? Just don't judge my video im so horrible doing this; yours are very professional and you should be proud! thanks for letting me steal a little time good luck with I'm sure your very charming wife! cheers!
Love this! Do you have a shop or email I could contact you at? My father is looking to have my great grandfather's plow restored for display in our yard - am looking for some direction/help to connect with someone who can do it! (part of the plow is broken, so would require some welding).

@@brittanyc3842 Brittany, I don't have a shop, I work out of my garage, and do it at my leisure. It is a long process just to get the years of rust abated enough to put a rust inhibitor on. As for the broken piece, cast iron is difficult to weld, better to find a replacement piece. If you live in the country, go to estate sales and poke around. I found a milk crate full of points, mold boards, and landslides for $15. If you get working on this plow, it will help to get any casting marks from the pieces so you know the manufacturer. In the late 1800's nearly every town had a small foundry, and produced plows, plus all major farm implement manufacturers made them. My email is, tricksterpreist@wctel.net if you have questions hit me up. Thanks for the response. Tony

How much would a plow like this sell for after restored?
I sold the wood beam for $250, if they are original the iron sells for a little more because of all the work.
We just rebuilt one of these for a customer, just as a yard ornament

I have an old plow been trying to find someone to restore or help me restore it have everything except the wooden handles..any suggestions
You can buy the handles on line, $35 - $75, a set. My local hardware store carries them. The hard things to find are the plow bolts.
