At last a nice demo with some mids, not the usual bass and trebble party with the mids scooped. Great job ! As for the price, it is what it is, MESA didn't outsource this to China or India like ORANGE and many others and I respect them for that. This is a professional amp not a bedroom toy.
I found your demo after I bought this rig, and I think you did a great job! You packed a LOT of useful info into a very short space, as it's hard to appreciate just how versatile this amp is.... Keep it up!
Probably the best amp demo I've seen! Thanks. I would love to hear single coils, or better yet stacked humbuckers demoed through this little beast. If they sound half as good as this demo I'll be getting one, and my markIV combo will never leave the house. At 90 pounds it's too much of a H M F for me to lug around anymore. Rock on.
The best demo I've seen so far for this head, you covered everything, including using the guitar's volume to see how the amp cleans up with a high gain setting. Excellent job!
Good review it was nice that you guys changed the knobs while playing so we can all hear the different tones and sounds you can get from this amp. Pretty badass for a little cute sized thing
Now you definitively stole the TH-cam crown as the best reviewer of guitargear! Amazing sound, video quality, personality, playing(!!!!), graphics, tweaking ... Well done!!!
Thank you again for all amazing videos.. Haggertysmusic BEST REVIEWS EVER!!!! I'll be waiting for the HEAD-2-head Rectifier Video! And Don.. You Rocks!!!
Best demo of this amp in youtube. I HAVE The mini rectifier and sounds Amazing. Only you have to be patient with the controls of each channel. :) blues. Rock.hard rock.punk. grunge and any metal style in this amp
Thanks for not cutting out all the mids like every other djent, detuned, hardcore wannabe demo on here. Your vid really allows the tone of this amp to shine through.
Yep! You can run as many cabs as you want. It's the total impedance that matters, and the mini is happy with either an 8 or 4 ohm load. Both 8 ohm 1x12 mini cabs running together in parallel equal a 4 ohm load.
Don, you nailed the landing, perfect 10. No kidding I’ve been checking out reviews for many years and your precise layout of the Mini recto is superb. I have a Mark IV 80’s vin that I’ve had since early 90’s and I’ve been interested in the Mini to set on a Marshall 1965B 4x10 cab (8ohms). I really liked your example of volume control at the guitar to change the sound of the amp. Keep up the great reviews and your guitar playing is so straight forward. I’d like to catch you live sometime! Jeff
Just ordered a Mini Recto from Don.If your wanting to order Mesa Boogie gear, Don is very informative and gives great deals. Don will play test these amps before he even ships them out. OR.you can take your chances with Guitar Center saying "ok dude yea man"..or Sweetwater saying "The forklift is getting your amp now". I feel better buying from shops that are informative about products and care about customers. BTW Don, that PRS is exact axe I play through my V and soon to be Mini Recto.THANKS
WOW ... awesome & excellent demo ... keep it up guys! can't wait for your Dual Rec vs Mini comparison. one small request in your already awesome demo ... can you let us hear what the amp sounds like all dimed out (max gain, treble, mid, bass, n presence on both channels n variations ... that's what i used to ultimately compare different amps) at a volume that u can record ... BIG BIG THANKS!!!
Already ordered the blue led strip and red diamond plate grille with black vent it's gonna look so freaking sweet. Mini rec owners check the Mesa site they got custom options now for mini recs
@Kidsfeet2008 That's a really great idea, thank you for that. I'm out of Mini's right now, but when I get more in stock we will consider shooting a video with single coils!
@TobiGuitar94 Compete? Sure. But they are different as the Rectifier and Mark have different voicing. We recently posed a Rectifier vs Mark V comparison which you may be interested in checking out. Thanks for watching!
@MyLifeChanger Of course not, that is because it is a Mini Recto. Each Recto has its own unique interpretation of that signature recto tone. You get a different response from the Early 2 Channel Duals, the later 2 channel Duals, the Original 3 channel Duals, and the Reborn. The Tremoverb, Road King, Roadster, Triple, and Single recto all have their unique flavour as well.
@NeilBrinsdon We use a Royer R-121 and an SM57. The Royer runs through a True Systems Ribbon Preamp and the SM57 straight into the Presonus Firestudio.
We filmed it last week and it's still with our video editor. Should be out shortly! It's a comparison video between the express 5:50+ and Mark V heads. I hope that you'll enjoy it! Thanks for your continued support.
This is the best demo I´ve ever seen even though I didn´t like any of these sound at all. They are so kicking also on a clean channel but overdrive kicks right away. I know this is very good amp and tone control really answers but something is missing with that sound, one for sure to my taste is reverb any kind of.
I'm basically positive it can. My dad has one of these things and when you crank it with a 4x12 you get some serious fucking volume. ESPECIALLY in modern 25 watt mode. It's fucking INSANE how much volume this thing can put forth.
Can the lead tones in channel 2 compete with classic Mark Lead Tones? Just curious as the amp seems intresting for me, really like what I hear so far :D Great Demo, absulutely the best on TH-cam ;)
i kinda wish you had expressed how loud this amp really is. i picked one up yesterday and i can barely turn the master up past 8 o'clock (with the gain way up) with my girlfriend home. i don't know how you can sit so close to the amp in this demo with the master up so loud!
@cw5394 I reviewed it on a seven string, If you're interested.. Not as high quality.. As a metal player, I will say, I had to add a ts808 to get a good metal tone with passive pickups.. Fine without the 808 using my guitar with emg 707's..
A big guestion is?If any one have played rehearsal with other instruments like drums and base? And what do you think?Does it do the job or sound is not so powerfull anymore?I think Messa should do something on big and smal stage at the same time.Mini but not 25 but 40 or 50.That will be perfect.
Awesome video. Very informative! How does the head perform at low / bedroom volumes? Or even better, what about situations were stage volume is a huge problem?
@haggertysmusic No, THANK YOU! Once again Don, you totally rocked the demo! Mesa should be paying you to do these, they're way more helpful than the videos on their site ;). Not that the Mesa demos are bad, it's just that yours are really informative instead of just showing off sounds. Also, you totally came through for those of us with specific requests (thanks again for the EMG section!). Time to go back to playing my Mini-Recto...
Great review and great amp but the LTD can't keep up with the PRS. I mean it might not be a bad guitar but the PRS just sounds a million times better and I think it also would have sounded better if you used the PRS on the modern high gain mode. But I like the idea of using more than one guitar for an amp review to see/hear the differences!
Hi Don! Can you tell me if you think the mini could be gigged or is it meant for bedroom? I use 212 cabs with 50-65 watt speakers. 90s cover bands. Thanks!
@Linqua2112 also, do you think this has enough headroom on the clean channel for band practice/live situation? im talking clean as you can get them, post rock cleans. thanks!
Don, is there a possibility that you can try this with 6L6's? I'm curious to see if it can loosen the low end a little bit and add a little more... resonance to the sound.
Man this guy does the best amp reviews!
Yeah, really good!
At last a nice demo with some mids, not the usual bass and trebble party with the mids scooped. Great job ! As for the price, it is what it is, MESA didn't outsource this to China or India like ORANGE and many others and I respect them for that. This is a professional amp not a bedroom toy.

finally someone who dialed in the metal tone right
This is a VERY good review of an item. Every review should be like this one! Great amp, great guitar player, and not too much talking. Well done!
dude..your demo should be the benchmark for demos worldwide...very very very nice job
The best demo I've seen so far for this head, you covered everything, including using the guitar's volume to see how the amp cleans up with a high gain setting. Excellent job!

Great Demo!
From in-depth channel descriptions, to EQ demonstrations(GREAT IDEA!), I agree this should be a benchmark for future demo videos!
Good demo. Honest, wide range of demonstration, and high audio quality.
"we'll see how much gain this channel's really got"
*sets gain at **1:00*
Best Mesa Boogie demos on youtube. I'm very happy to suscribe. Thanks guys!
Thanks. Using a PRS 25th anniversary custom 24 really allowed me to get an idea on how versatile this amp really is. Great video.
honestly, this is the best amp demo ive ever seen!
Thanks so much for an incredible gear review - best I have ever seen! Nice to see you use such a versatile PRS also to showcase the sound options.
Love that "Hey Bulldog" at 10:54. Great sounding amp and nice demo.
Absolutely. In our Dual Rec vs Mini comparison video we have it plugged into a 4x12.
Finalmente alguém mostrou a maravilhosa versatilidade deste amplificador.
At 6:26 I jumped out of my chair like it was super bowl sunday! Good brother you was kill'n it!!!
superb amp...shockingly loud and full of tonal heaven
Best review for this amp I have seen. Well done!
Thank you again for all amazing videos.. Haggertysmusic BEST REVIEWS EVER!!!! I'll be waiting for the HEAD-2-head Rectifier Video! And Don.. You Rocks!!!
This man should make every amps' review...
Best demo of this amp in youtube. I HAVE The mini rectifier and sounds Amazing. Only you have to be patient with the controls of each channel. :) blues. Rock.hard rock.punk. grunge and any metal style in this amp
Oh, with which cabinets?
Thanks for not cutting out all the mids like every other djent, detuned, hardcore wannabe demo on here. Your vid really allows the tone of this amp to shine through.
Brandon Boe boosted mids is the key behind a djent tone actually...
Thanks for this demo with all the modes and nuances!
FINALY a guy that really does good and honest reviews (also knows a pot "cranked" is at 2 o clock and not at the ffar end!)
Yep! You can run as many cabs as you want. It's the total impedance that matters, and the mini is happy with either an 8 or 4 ohm load. Both 8 ohm 1x12 mini cabs running together in parallel equal a 4 ohm load.

YEAH ! A WELL MIXED demo of this head...GREAT JOB GUYS !
DUDE you are a god at gear reviews. thank you!
I wish I knew how he recorded this. What mics, EQ settings, etc. IT SOUNDS SO GOOD
Dude, awesome reviews, and the ending is hilarious!
thanks for this. I liked the final sound with the modern setting. It sounds good

Great demo & excellent playing.
To me this is the BEST review of the Mini Rectifier
P.S. The darkness @ 11:47 made me head-bang :)
@Kidsfeet2008 That's a really great idea, thank you for that. I'm out of Mini's right now, but when I get more in stock we will consider shooting a video with single coils!
When you get the giggles after playing on an amp, it's a keeper.
@TobiGuitar94 Compete? Sure. But they are different as the Rectifier and Mark have different voicing. We recently posed a Rectifier vs Mark V comparison which you may be interested in checking out. Thanks for watching!
Awesome little amp! I have a Dual Recto! Sure looks lighter to carry from gig to gig! Thanx for the review!
I'm late to the party but this is a super solid demo. Great work!
@zillathegorilla The Mini 1x12's have Vintage 30 speakers in them and we used a Royer R121 and Shure SM57 in these recordings. Thanks for watching!
great review nice amp i really like it and nice playing really helpful. that man can really play and playes everything. great work!
I tried it out couple of days ago and it sounded great! Nice review, btw :)
Right now the Mesa 4x12 is what I'm gonna have to plug the Mini Recto into, but soon want to get a 2x12 or a Mini 1x12 cab,
great rock tones out of a metal amp ! nice demo !!!
@MyLifeChanger Of course not, that is because it is a Mini Recto. Each Recto has its own unique interpretation of that signature recto tone. You should demo de EVH 5150III and the Carvin V3M, battle of the mini amps!
@NeilBrinsdon We use a Royer R-121 and an SM57. The Royer runs through a True Systems Ribbon Preamp and the SM57 straight into the Presonus Firestudio.
Really good demo!
We filmed it last week and it's still with our video editor. Should be out shortly!
It's a comparison video between the express 5:50+ and Mark V heads.
I hope that you'll enjoy it! Thanks for your continued support.
Cracking demo! Can't wait till they finally arrive in England! Just wondering... What's the song that starts at 10:54. Thanks very much!
Great demo!
The first clean demo really reminds me of Sun King
Great video, great playing!!
Thank you all so much for the kind words!
Very good video and awesome playing! Rock on!!! \m/

I know this is very good amp and tone control really answers but something is missing with that sound, one for sure to my taste is reverb any kind of.
@jdoorn01 Next week we will film the Mini Vs Dual comparison and both amps will be run through the same 4x12 Rectifier Cab!
very nice demo mate! I really need this baby!(with the snakebyte:D)
@darren0512341 We do ship internationally, just not on Mesa/Boogie gear! Our contract with them only allows us to ship within the US.
I'm basically positive it can. My dad has one of these things and when you crank it with a 4x12 you get some serious fucking volume. ESPECIALLY in modern 25 watt mode. It's fucking INSANE how much volume this thing can put forth.

Just curious as the amp seems intresting for me, really like what I hear so far :D
Great Demo, absulutely the best on TH-cam ;)
Ahh Sisters is the perfect song for that part of the demo!
i kinda wish you had expressed how loud this amp really is. i picked one up yesterday and i can barely turn the master up past 8 o'clock (with the gain way up) with my girlfriend home. i don't know how you can sit so close to the amp in this demo with the master up so loud!
THIS is how amps should be reviewed!
@stratguy823 The song for the Modern EQ demo? That's The Darkness, "I believe in a thing called love". :-)
Dude you the review king
@cw5394 I reviewed it on a seven string, If you're interested.. Not as high quality.. As a metal player, I will say, I had to add a ts808 to get a good metal tone with passive pickups.. Fine without the 808 using my guitar with emg 707's..

lOl the ending! haha. Hey where did you have the mic located for this demo? right in the middle?
nice... very informative and comprehensive product review... thanks
Excellent Review !!!
please review the carvin legacy 3!!?? you are really good at this!!!!!
Awesome video. Very informative! How does the head perform at low / bedroom volumes? Or even better, what about situations were stage volume is a huge problem?
Jesus, does this review come with tabs? Amazing playing!!!
@haggertysmusic No, THANK YOU! Once again Don, you totally rocked the demo! Mesa should be paying you to do these, they're way more helpful than the videos on their site ;). Dear Mesa Boogie. Please make a Mini Lonestar! Thank you.
Great demo...
Dude you look so excited!! lol , nice job! and thx!
@MyLifeChanger Very satisfied with the Mini. I've playing some $3000 amps that don't sound as good as the Mini.
Can't wait till one of these badboys graces the local music store!!!! : DDD
great player. great sounds. great review. grateful viewer.
Oh my god, I love your voice.
That clean tone would sound sweet with some chorus...and a dab of reverb.
would you put your effects in front of the recifier or after?
after i imagine right?
@ctc1960 Nice! I'll be using my new Suhr for our Mini vs Dual Rec video tonight! A nice Suhr brings out the best in any amp. :-)
Hey, other guitar reviewers, if you're reading this among all of the comments from happy guitarists, this is a how a demo is done.
Don how hot does the amp get using EL84's ? like when you had the Master turned full on , does the amp get real hot?
Hi Don! Can you tell me if you think the mini could be gigged or is it meant for bedroom? I use 212 cabs with 50-65 watt speakers. 90s cover bands. Thanks!
@Linqua2112 also, do you think this has enough headroom on the clean channel for band practice/live situation? im talking clean as you can get them, post rock cleans. thanks!

@1livefire1 We have this video posted on our channel!
I want that cab.
