    Great review. Well done on calling out the drawbacks. Nobody has pointed out these things.

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Iain b Thanks for saying that. Its precisely why I made the video. I had watched a dozen reviews with half a million views that all said 0 negative things about the chair. I never realized until I got it myself that these people were simply bought out and there there are certainly a few things to be pensive about.

    • @insgr
      @insgr 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      acegamestv so how is the chair after 2 months of the review. Maybe some of the drawbacks you mentioned like the stiff foam it was a matter of getting used to it?

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      insgr I'm used to the issues by now, but that doesn't mean they are gone. I still occasionally get a pain in my elbow after long gaming sessions, especially after not gaming all week cuz work then playing for 8 hours.
      The flanges on the side are still ridiculously annoying but I've gotten used to just putting my legs on them anyway. I suppose the seat is the one thing that certainly gets better each day. I've gotten used to it, and its very noticeable when I sit in my office chair with actual padding, but I know this one will never go flat like previous chairs so I appreciate it more daily.

    • @Zakalwe-01
      @Zakalwe-01 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      acegamestv Yep, there too now. After a few days, I found that my entire body frame seem contorted out of shape! This seems to be down to the bad posture developed on the Ikea chair I used prior to the Maxnomic. Now I can't go back to the Ikea one. It's so unsupportive! A couple of interesting things have popped up. Firstly, the chair is a great fit for my wife, who is around an inch and a half shorter than me, but has long legs! According to the Maxnomic guide, she should be a chair size down. Secondly, I found that placing the lumber support behind the backrest (you can lift it up and out), provided a much more comfortable experience. Quality-wise, the chair is as good as new having been used for many hours a day (I work from home and often long into the night). Pretty impressive. What I like most is the sheer versatility of the chair though. It covers a lot of bases.

      @Andytlp 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      acegamestv Yeah i had a thought that the padding may be so firm that its going to be make my ass sore. But that shouldnt be much of a prob because im already sitting on wood basically. How worse can it get. if maxnomic doesnt have softness levels like dxracer. Maybe i should get softest dxracer variant over maxnomic. Who seem to have same padding on all chairs. What do you think?

      Hello, Can you please tell what do you think about the chair after all this time using it?i wanna buy an new office chair that one i have after 8 years of use is falling apart so i am checking AKracing and GT omega maxnomics ,I am staying away from DXracer since from the people i know all the way to the internet reviews , it appears being way overpriced and quite low quality too, form stitching to things falling apart.

    Really helpful review - love that you skipped the gushing BS everybody else does and went straight to the issues. I do the same thing with sitting on my leg and hadn't thought to watch out for that

  • @Zakalwe-01
    @Zakalwe-01 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Right, just put one of these together (orange Dominator). Took around 15 minutes to build on my own, and I was really impressed with the packing and the care that had been taken during manufacture. I went with the roller derby wheels and polished silver base. These are incredibly well made, and when I replace this chair, I'll transfer these to its replacement! I DON'T have the issue of not being able to fold my leg under easily. I can do that, but the roller derby wheels raise the base to such a height that my legs dangle off the end of the seat! I didn't expect that, and this isn't explained on the website. The arm rests are just as you say: fantastic adjustment, very sturdy, but very firm too. The firm seat padding seems excellent so far, and the fact that the base and back is also sprung is really noticeable. I sit at a converted industrial table, and this is the first seat that allows me to sit at it correctly. If I didn't have a foot rest though, I'd have to abandon the roller derby wheels. I also think that you've called out some excellent points that bear further research by a prospective buyer. Overall though, this is a superb buy and I'd say worth the steep asking price.

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Iain b Thanks for the input. If I remember, the Dominator is even smaller than the Maxnomic correct. Mind telling everyone your height as well, in order to get a bit more info about the seat height and width and how they effect you?
      I don't know much about the wheels, but I assume the issue you have is that if you adjust the height of the seat to one that your feet can touch the ground the chair is so low that you can't operate at a desk while at that height?
      Or is the chair as low as it goes and the wheels make it so much taller that you still can't have your feet flat?
      Either way, thanks for adding to the discussion!

    • @Zakalwe-01
      @Zakalwe-01 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm 5.9 and slim built. The width of the seat and backrest is good for me, and doesn't feel too large in any way. I chose the heavy duty polished aluminium (aluminum!) foot with the roller derby wheels. I'd say that combined they add nearly two inches to the chair's height at its lowest setting. This is perfect for my converted industrial table (I use a foot rest), but I think for many people the combination of alternative stand and heavyweight castors could render the chair unusable. I'm also really surprised at how high the chair goes. My feet are damn near an entire foot off the ground with the chair on max!

    I bought sorta the same chair, just from DXRacer, going from a recliner to that chair was really uncomfortable in the first week, really hard to sit on and all that, but after the first week with an extra pillow to sit on, it got better and better, now im without the pillow, wouldn't want any other chair, will buy a new one when it needs to be replaced.

  • @Snickezboy789
    @Snickezboy789 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    2 things im not heavy like 130lbs so would the foam be too firm and i put my elbows on the armrest alot but its because i have to sit low because my current chair is broken and does not raise. Do you think that with this chair sitting up higher I would not need the armrests to be used for my elbows any more?

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Snickezboy789 The armrests are really customization, so I can pretty much say with certainty that you won't be disappointed with that. I just didn't like how they felt at first.
      The foam firmness is probably way less obtrusive when you are that light.
      But I can't say for sure, so don't take my word for it!

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Fubizz12345 I'm not sure. That description doesn't conjure much imagery for me. The back is fully adjustable. You can even lay it totally flat with respect to the seat and lay in it like a bed. The wings on this chair are going to prohibit you a bit though probably. I can't be sure, but in general if that works in a regular chair I don't see why it wouldn't work with this one.

    • @Fubizz12345
      @Fubizz12345 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ya cause i slouch like crazy and its only because if you lean back in my chair it defaults to a leen back position. Then when im watching vids i let it lean back and Im almost laying down. leaning on a tree

    Does taking the armrests off allow you to sit half cross legged in this chair comfortably without the edges of the seat bothering your legs? Thinking of getting a racer type chair for my home office but not being able to sit (half) cross legged on the chair is a deal breaker for me.

    Which is the specific model for this? I have this type of issue with Aeron chairs where the flanged wings would dig into my legs, but I see that they have an "XL" model that is an oversized version of the chair. Thanks for your insight!

    Hi.
    I was wondering what the condition is on the leather after one year of wear? I'm pretty satisfied with all the information on the internet about the frame and features of the chair, but nobody has really mentioned the durability of the polyurethane 'leather' durabilty. Thanks!

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, its in immaculate shape, honestly. I don't wear chairs or anything on my jeans that would scratch it up though, but there has been absolutely 0 wear and tear on the leather. The armrests are a bit beat up though.

  • @footcandy
    @footcandy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I frequently sit with one leg tucked under me (I didn't realise it was a thing and that so many of us do it) thanks for the info on this. I wonder if the more wider models would enable you sit that way. Thanks for your thoughts. How is now that you've had a year to test it out?

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +footcandy After about 8 months I just couldn't take it any longer. I gave it to my dad as a christmas present and bought the Leader model. The card in the video links to my comparison, but long story short everything about the leader is 100 percent better other than the price tag.
      It was worth the extra 100 dollars though.

    My dominator chair is very soft and I would like to have it firmer, also there is virtually no lumbar support and it is a bucket seat which is bad for posture. 3 wrongs ina row, the office comfort model seems to have none of these problems though

  • @rc7016
    @rc7016 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    interesting review, thanks. I just ordered the commander s3 model. it has a much wider, flatter base cushion which should allow more flexibility in seating. I have read that the memory foam can take some time to break in and be more comfortable. has this been the case with your unit? also the armrests on the unit I ordered look somewhat different, perhaps a revision?

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Robert Cottrell Ya the armrests have an updated texture. They don't feel much different, but the top isn't just smooth rubber anymore.
      In terms of the "memory foam" (if you are sure it can be called that) I had no issues or differences. That was my main interest in this chair, and was not an issue when I upgraded to the Leader model. This company does one thing extremely right - their chairs will last you for a very long time.

  • @Walhor
    @Walhor 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    All you points are just positive in my perspective:
    1: I do that crossposture all the time and I need to stop doing it for good posture and stuff
    2: the memory foam of some kind will also be good for your back and wont be worn out like other cheap chairs
    3: the arms are also solid but the ones i have atm is just borring plastic that are stiff but I guess I have to experience that

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good you will enjoy this chair then! In terms of three, years later these being this hard has lead to some very strange behavior. Essentially, its best described as erosion. The parts of the pad where my elbows rest have been permanently dented, something that never happened with the traditional type arm rest.

    I just got the commander SIII (yes i also did pay for it), the padding on the seat is idd a little harder as on the cheap chairs, but you have to keep in mind that this thing is going to last you a pretty long time. My padding is a little more soft tho. When I sit down in it, I just feel some pains in my legs because i had bad chair for years! I also had a little bit of backpain which is completly gone now. These chairs are a lot of money, but if I would have to make this choice again, I would buy it right away.

    Yeah, that could be a deal breaker for me. Fortunately while i was looking at their site, i noticed they have different classes of chair with recommended body types for each. If you like to cross your legs a lot or like to spread your feet without being impaired by the chair; then I would recommend looking at one of the larger models without the side pads. They cost more but they are also more robust as well. Good honest review, I appreciate a real consumers point of view.

      @acegamestv  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good, I'm glad you are taking the advice of others with a grain of salt. If these things don't bother you then you will love this chair! Its great aside from all this.

    • @krige
      @krige 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought the chair. I don't like it for two reasons:
      (1) the side "cushions/holders" at the seat base that you mentioned in your video are extremelly unconfortable! They literally push into my quadricepts, cutting them into half up to the point where it becomes painful and I am forced to close my legs from time to time.
      (2) it is too high! I got the 173-184 cm model, I am 180 cm and at its lowest height my feet barely touch the floor. If I tilt it just one notch backwards my feet don't touch the floor anymore and since my legs are elavated soon I start feeling pain right under my quadriceps, near the knee.
      For these two reasons I would also not recommend buying this chair, especially for the first. I regret I have not listened to your advice. Unfortunately I cannot return the chair because the two weeks period has expired, so now I am trying to sell it.

    • @acegamestv

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Blevins The chair is recommended for people under 6'2.
      I personally am 6'0 215~
      They have recommendations on the website, but it might be best if you get the next model up in size. Its like 80 dollars more, but I think one of my major complaints could have been resolved by just buying that one instead.

    All gaming chairs are like that. Akracing, GTomega, DxRacer.
    The firmness is for many hours of use, like 7h or so, for "gaming" sessions.
    The wings are a bit more restraining than in a car seat, i noticed that too and don't know why exactly.
    The armrests have to be unsteady for the mechanism to work.

    Thank you for this awesome and HONEST Review! unfortunatelly you bought the wrong chair, as others said the "OFFICE COMFORT" model should exactly fit you because it doesnt has those wings on the side. I am also crossing my legs like you do so thats why I got that one. I hope you enjoy your new OFFICE version of this chair and looking forward for a review. Oh and one more thing: Althought you get an excellent chair from NeedforSeat, that 300 or even 500 Dollar are nothing for a proper Office chair. The ones at my workplace cost 5000 Euro (five thausand) each. Those are specifically made for 10+ hours of sitting on it.

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +unheilig666 500 dollars is a lot for a chair for the normal gamer. I could by a top of the line motherboard for that, instead I bought a middle of the pack chair.
      For 5 thousand I could buy a used car.
      Either way, I'll be making 2 videos on the upgraded chair - one comparing the two, and a stand-alone review on it.
      Thanks for your kind words!

    Hello. Thanks for the review. I think the issues you bring up are more personal tastes and preferences. In my opinion the chair enforces good sitting habits which you could be grateful for 10-15 years laters. Just like healthy diets .. at first you suffer and long for unhealthy food but after the break-in period you get used to it.

    I know this is an old video and all, but I own both a maxnomic and a Steelcase chair, and I gotta say the Steelcase is so much more comfortable. It's a very simple, plain looking chair, but it allows me to sit up straight with no back pain at all, whereas the only really comfortable way to sit in my maxnomic was leaning backwards into it - not a great position if you want to get any work done. That said, when I had issues with my maxnomic within the warranty, they did a great job of sorting things out for me, and I still sit in it periodically if I just want to lounge. Mostly my cat sleeps in it now while I work at the computer in my Steelcase chair. :)

      @acegamestv  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the input! Was the adjustment to bring the back closer not useful for your situation?

    • @Ralleighen
      @Ralleighen 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might just be that I am more sensitive to back pain, but yea, sitting straight was always unfortunately just not great for me in the maxnomic. Still a good chair for lounging, and like you said almost comfortable enough to sleep in even, but yeah just not as good for getting work done in sitting straight. The steelcase chair was more expensive and it's not much to look at, but it's excellent to be able to sit straight up and feel genuinely just comfortable. :)

    DXRacer king size, I have one for 5 year ago at my parent house, that my sister use. Its still in a Standard like it was new. And yes, I used to gaming / raid alot, 6-7 hr gaming everyday. And didnt take any mark of that. So now I see Maxnomic at alot of Gaming Tour, and what I end up buying a DXracer King size again. As price range as Maxnomic. Thanks for video Review - it have the good and bad side of the chair. Dxracer - is soft to sit on. I tell you from exp, if its a King size series.

    Nice review! I have the office comfort series and it looks like it'd be a better fit for you and I'm able to sit with my foot up and under me in it. The seats are firm but I feel like this helps me with my posture so even though I was taken back by it at first I'm appreciative of it now. The arm rest jiggle though I hate. It is the only part of the chair that feels cheap and while I love the ability to adjust the arm rest, I wish they'd stay still once locked.

      Jason Monroe thanks! I'm 6'10 and 200lbs. the main factor for my decision of "Office-Comfort Commander S" over the "Pro-Gaming and Office" like the Dominitor, was the lumbar adjustment. @acegamestv  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Phill Wallace Is it? I don't really understand why that would be the case. I guess a gaming chair has to force a certain posture to vilify the normal bad habits gamers have?
      I'm not buying it.
      I've been playing games for extended periods for years and I simply can't sit the exact same way for multiple hours like this chair is forcing me to.
      To me at least, its VERY valid. Guess its just a bad habit to others though.

    • @snazzygg54
      @snazzygg54 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +acegamestv I found that more of a personal problem then anything. Anyhow its good that it breaks anyone out of the habit so for me thats a plus not a problem. The only thing I personally dont like just from seeing the chair is the arm rests.

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately for me its not a "habit" or something I can stop. After sitting at work for multiple hours, then coming home and raiding another 5~ hours I simply can't sit flat anymore. I have to shift, and what its turned into now is an even worse habit when I slump down so my legs can stretch a bit. Vitality | NBXT

    I’ve had one for 4-5 years. I love it. Was apprehensive about the price, but today I can say I absolutely do not regret it. Still like new and who knows how many hours I spent in it. I think I might have got a more expensive model than this one. Looks similar but stitching goes straight across.

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had the complete opposite experience. The things I listed here were too much for me. I had to give the chair away to my father, and buy the Leader instead. Its much more comfortable, but after 2+ years, its beat to shit. I've already replaced the arm rests once, and it looks like soon I'll have to do it again, as they keep developing these ridges in them, which eventually cause the foam to separate and make it very uncomfortable to rest my arm on.
      Meanwhile, the upholstery is all but gone. It was deteriorating so bad that I was leaving a trail of blue material everywhere I went, so I needed to take an old bed sheet and tie it around the base of the chair to have something consistent to sit on.
      Meanwhile the base of the seat, where my butt is all day every day, has gotten significantly depressed, so much so that if you look at the chair sideways its noticeable.
      Sounds like its time for a new video, now that I think about it.
      Glad you got lucky with yours. I did not, and I will not be buying a gaming chair any more.

    the reason im watching this video and commenting is pretty much self explanatory. I kinda had a suspicion that the cushion is not really soft at all. it looks like its gonna feel like sitting on a park bench. and the arm rests are hard plastic look alike. even though they are not hard plastic, they look like they would be hard on elbows. and the fact that no one else brought these points up is because they receive the chair for free and they feel obligated to recommend it and say its the most comfortable thing ever when in reality what im looking at doesn't make sense to be comfortable. idk. i need a new chair and i like the way they look but comfort is more important.

      @LadyXochi1979 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ended up buying this one anyway, because DXRacer wasn't able to deliver the model I needed in time.
      I don't really have a problem sitting in the chair with one leg underneath me. Unfortunately, the chair is too high. The specs say: "Casual Sport chairs accommodates users with a body size between 5'5" and 5'9" (1.65m to 1.75m)". I am 1.69m, but when the chair is in it's lowest position, I cannot put my feet flat on the ground. And no, I don't have an extremely long upper body. ;)

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jantien Van Der Meer Ya, this is another big issue with the company itself. They seem to be a bit confused on what their specifications are meant to mean, and despite me fitting comfortably into the chair I purchased's recommendations, I obviously do not fit in the chair at all.

    I do completely agree, I myself purchased a DXRacer and It really isnt soft at all, Rather hard and the wings dig into your legs meaning you can only sit in one position which might be good for posture but not for comfort. it also ended up breaking 3 times within the year i got it and then i got a full refund, do not buy gaming oriented products.

    I was fortunate enough to live near the store, so I got to finally try all the chairs out for an hour. I think you might have been more satisfied with the office version of the chair. It doesn't have the wings on the seat which would have let you cross your legs. It even had much better lumbar support and customization too. It wasn't nearly as form-fitting, though. Then again I'm a rather petite girl, so maybe it is better suited for a man.

      Joe Branek Np, glad my goals met your expectations. The chair is really good, but unfortunately there are three MAJOR flaws that make its near 400 dollar price tag excessive. Hope this helps you guys make your decision!

    its not supposed to be soft, its firm because its better for the posture wich also makes it better for your health in the long term
    the audio is way out of sync

      +t103Ninja Its not way out of sync, just a little off with the webcam. And I've heard this stuff about the posture 100 times. I don't really care whats "better for the long term." Maybe if I was 12 and this was the first chair I owned, but every other chair I've used for the last 8 years has allowed for my own posture - not the apparently decided perfect one. I'm not suddenly going to sit a very specific way just because I now own this chair. One of the few drawbacks of this chair is its trying to conform to some guidelines set by who knows. Its still a great chair though.

      acegamestv its a guideline that every well designed office chair uses, i dont have any experience with this particular chair but i do have a DXRace and its very similar
      the chair i had before was some cheap thing from ikea and i used to slump down in it and cross my legs and stuff
      upon getting the DXracer it did take me a litle while to get used to the change but it was a change for the better i can sit in the chair all day and night and when i get up i feel just as fresh as when i first sat in it
      and yes the audio is way out of sync

    Thanks for the review. I value negative points a lot more than positive ones and that's something I never seem to find on a lot of things. : )

      Naomi Washinton Ya that was the point of making this. So many people got this chair for free that literally none of the big reviews say a single negative point about it.

    Thanks a lot for the video :) I'm a programmer and we have naturally good chairs at work, but I never ever had a soft arm wrist, also my Chair at home doesn't, so was hoping these would be better but sadly nope.
    But guess DX Racer is better then, it's said to be softer as Max'

    They need to add an inch of plush foam. Sink a little, then stop. That's the goal. I don't see any chairs that do that though. It basic in matresses though.

      +Hezekiah Domowski My dream chair is the professional look of Maxnomic and hard foam that is comfortable to sit on but is hard to make sink at all.

      +ZOMG Comfortable, for me, would have to entail sinking. In fact, I'd prefer the most amount of sinking that doesn't let you touch the bottom.
      what you are describing is a hard chair :) they make them, for dining rooms :)

    For your first point, you just need to get one of the bigger models. Otherwise, good points :)

      08boatfg Ya, just a shame they cost soooo much more. This one is the perfect size if it just didn't have these damn wings on them!
