    Gidey was already 1 yard behind Chebet, when she fell. Chebet was already past, when Gidey fell. Look at the video again. So therefore she went from 2nd to 3rd because of her fall.

      One way to say it but she looked backed many times which is a sign of weakness. Crazy part is chebet the winner collapsed after the line. Tough course. Young man collapsed earlier at the line and had to scoot his butt across. Hot humid nasty weather did it and against the best.

      I'll answer you; NO ONE!
      I'm Kenyan.
      Today, Saturday, March 30th, 2024, the world cross country championship was held in Belgrade, Serbia.
      Again, BEAtrice Chebet, this same winner in this video, led a Kenyan 1-2-3-4-5 sweep for our women in the very same race.
      Then the Ethiopians followed.
      Then the ugandans were also in the mix.
      East Africa will be there until the last dog dies.

  • @maxtri3572
    @maxtri3572 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    Gidey was already on the descent, before the final climb with car tires looked on the verge of losing consciousness. Look at her running mechanics. The intense heat played a cruel joke on her. She started her long finish early and she simply did not have enough energy in these conditions. Plus, perhaps a strong loss of fluid in the body. However, there are very few who can bring themselves to such a crisis state during the race. Amazing ability to endure pain! Most in such a situation will simply slow down or even leave the race. This is what heat stroke usually looks like.
    A similar situation was at the finish line with British triathlete Jonathan Brownlee:
    th-cam.com/video/liCRrheKIOI/w-d-xo.html
    Therefore, those who say that she stumbled at the finish line or gave up when she saw her rival catch up, absolutely do not see the situation on a larger scale.

    • @ditocerto
      @ditocerto ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Man, you gotta give the kenyan some credit and stop looking for excuses.

    • @maxtri3572
      @maxtri3572 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Nobody says that the Kenyan athlete won and it was not deserved. Beatrice fought to the end and she did well! Congratulations! But the struggle was already with the stopwatch and with the rest of the participants, as Gidey left the race a few meters before the finish line. Unfortunately, we did not see the final battles in the last 100 meters. I wrote earlier that Gidey’s running technique broke down on the penultimate descent. Even then, the body was in a severe crisis. There was only one question: will the gained advantage be enough to reach the finish line or not? Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. If this is not noticeable, then you can pay attention to how Gidey's running technique and structure completely fell apart on the last descent, at the finish line. The camera just took a close-up shot of her in those seconds. She could barely keep her balance. Her movements were already on "autopilot", on the verge of losing consciousness. She tried to keep her concentration and at least keep her heading towards the finish gate. Until the very moment of the fall, its speed is greatly reduced down to 4-5 min / km. Naturally, anyone running nearby, even at a pace of 3 min / km, will look like Usain Bolt.
      No one is looking for excuses for losing the Gidey. We need to look at the whole picture as a whole and understand this situation more globally. Thank God that no one else has such a crisis and everyone is alive and well!
      In general, all those who fought for victory are world-class athletes. Extra class! Still, this is a world championship, and not a competition among the senior classes of any particular school. African runners as always on top! Peace and goodness to all!

      Thank you bro. @ditorcerto.
      Beatrice Chebet has brought me here today.
      She won again, in Belgrade, SErbia senior women's cross country.
      She led a clean Kenyan sweep 1-2-3-4-5.

      @timchambers8230 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@dreswan1 definitely collapsed. - If she had simply tripped she would have regained her feet and continued to the finish. What happened to Gidey was an extreme lactic response which basically saw her legs unable to support her weight or respond to her inputs. I’ve seen it many times before.

    Seems like they could have set up the finish straight a little better. The camera was facing where the runners "should" have been running which was between the bails. It's the WORLD CROSS COUNTRY. Set it up like it's a professional event instead of just having people running all over the place because the people who set it up have no clue.
