Am I the only one who wants a Mars Mission/Power Miners reboot?Just to get them with the new stuff that Lego has made.
This has so much nostalgia for me. I remember getting mars mission sets nine years ago. Though I never got this set, I loved playing with every mars mission set I got.

I loved power miners but rock raiders was also a very good theme. I still have the game on ps2 and pc.

I remember i got this set when it came out. Good memories.
I used to have this set, and if you twist the wingtips of the alien spacecraft downward and inward forcefully, the trans-neon green cones will come flying off, giving it a "shooting function". I don't think that it was supposed to work that way, and I don't know how good it was for the pieces, but I had fun doing it!
Oh boy. I remember getting this one back when it first came out, and it felt HUGE. I don't know why, but when I played with it back then, I felt like it was way underpriced. I don't think I'll ever forget Mars Mission, just from this one set.
Yup, was actually one of the cheapest brands, 2500 CLP (5 USD) for a alien fighter with mobile wings, a martian, a astronaut and a gun, a miner bot or a poly bag? never understood it going out, was quite popular, and Dino plague too.
I remember getting the big alien ship and a few other sets when i went to centre Parks which is a holiday place in the U.K. I rly liked them
I remember when I had this set. It was fun to play with (I was a LOT younger then)
According to the German Lego Club Magazine, this used to be a mining vehicle and was rebuilt as it was attacked. Now I don't know how that would work, but it does explain a few things: namely the rather dinky assault by the "bad" guys, the heavy focus on defense, the lack of any mining equipment whatsoever, and the exposed engine parts near the turntable.
What I don't like about this model is that the bodywork behind the canopy is lower than the canopy itself. So it has a giant hole in the back.
Oooh the classic lego. I remember those, although I think the products lego is selling now is much much better. Anyway, good review!
I got this back in the day. Getting those unique pieces such as the wheels, treads, canopy, and canister tubes were a big deal for me. I did get most of the sets of the theme, but not all. I should have completed the theme. Regret it now that I didn't because the theme is so unique and imaginative.
Ah hey I have that one! :D I remember getting it along with several other Mars Mission sets one Christmas, it was great :3 That year everyone had a lot more money to spend than usual so I got lots of Legos and stuff that year... fond memories ^-^
I have a similar fond memories with Mars Mission as well :)! I loved the line as I was fascinated with space exploration around the time this line came out, so I definitely love this line of sets! It's was short lived, but close to my heart, a few sets to this day still sit near my workspace!
And I still use all the parts from these whenever I get out my Legos and build something :D

I got this set back in the day to try to satisfy my hunger for new cool Lego sets that I got from the awesome Exo-Force line. This set is very comparable to the Mobile Defense Tank of the Exo-Force line (they even have the same MSRP) yet this set just lacked inspiration to me, and the difference between it and the Mobile Defense Tank highlighted to me (even as a kid back then) just how special the Exo-Force line was.
I had this, the Recon Dropship and the ETX Mothership set. I loved them all so much but my favorite was the dropship. Oh I forgot I also had the MT-21 set too but I didnt care for that one so much.
That set seems like it can even be produced nowadays!

It would be cool to have seen the CLS-89 Eradicator from Galaxy Squad in with Mars Mission except replacing the Galaxy Squad astronaut with one from Mars Mission and a cockpit canopy with a matching trans. orange color to fit into the Mars Mission theme.

Ah, Mars Mission, the Space Theme when I was a kid. I loved the heck out of the few sets that I did manage to get, I love the Mars Mission games on lego.com, I just loved it overall! This was one set I *never* got but *always* wanted :\ Ah well, maybe I'll pick up one of bricklink one of these days XD

I remember fetting this as a kid (i was 5-6 at the time). I remember thinking the tank thing was kind of scary because it reminded me of a crab (I had a very traumatic event with a king crab at the age of 4.
Man, I miss this thing. I should never have taken it apart...

I think this set is pretty cool I like the disks I got so many ideas for them and I don't have a lot of those rocket boosters maybe and I think my favorite part is the heavy laser cannon arm I guess the cockpit glass would be cool I don't have it just can't think of anything that's my thoughts on this set!

I think a single alien fighter is acceptable. Ambushes are, after all, intended to capture the enemy off-guard while you have the advantage, often allowing numerically inferior forces to decimate larger ones. In this case, I can easily imagine the alien fighter causing damage, crippling the vehicle or knocking out weapon systems in the initial ambush before the tank has a chance to respond.
Maybe the tank was doing the ambushing.

Do you have any idea why the disk shooters were short lived?
Atleast all the ones i had had these issues: if the drum was filled completely, the top disk would jump out upon shooting, or not lay flat in the bottom when i loaded them
