We took a road trip to Cabela's in Nevada to check out the Ultimate Alaknak Tent and a few other goodies. We came back with a car load of stuff to play with.
Shit I'm high AF right now and when I seen a head in that sleeping bag I thought I was trippin or I thought I seen somebody dead in that thing because to me it looks like a portable Corners lab with them sleeping bags and then the accessory pouches looks like where they keep their autopsy tools and paperwork and the black bar at the feet look like where they keep the schedule the way your organs so any freeze to death in the woods they just perform an autopsy on you and see what was preserved 😦😨😱 I've never been more scared of camping in my life after watching this video that guy made it look freaky AF! looking, but on the other hand I am as baked as Willie Nelson at the CMAs on some top shelf cannabis! yeah!!!!!😃😅😂😂😎🍁💨💨=_= this symbol means I'm so high I can't even see out my own eyelids hahahaha 😅😆😅😂😂😂😂
This is really nice . definitely not for over night camping. I'll say more like a week long hunting trip or homestead prep or such.. Wish you guys many long and happy camping ventures.
Great tent, but for one person it takes me 3 hours to get the tent fully functional with bed, table two chairs, heater, roof protector and vestibule with all gear addressed. Tear down is about the same, but can be accomplished in just over two hours. Use fire retardant pad under stove. Also cardboard spread out on the floor with inexpensive carpet from Lowe's will protect the floor for many years and be very warm on the feet. Oh yes always use a heavy tarp under the tent to protect the floor from rocks and other issues.
Yes you can. I lived in mine for 3.5 yrs. I did however, put a tarp over it . I have since then bought a house. and I now use it every summer and occasional winter... Great investment. Cabelas is the #1 in outdoor camping equipment and necessity.
I do have a video showing last years hunting/camping trip, but this tent is for everything. Hunting, Camping, and in a few weeks it will be use for a prospecting trip. No matter how it is used it will be protected and defended by several large caliber firearms.
Center Pole: Approx 9'8'' tall; breaks down into one 38.75" and two 42.5" sections. The floor isn’t real thick but I would be careful setting it up on anything sharp or pointy.
I did a fair amount of research on the Alaknak, Big Horn III, cotton duck wall tents and others and decided on the Alaknak 12x12 yesterday. It was on sale for $749 and with the Cabela's Club Member discount, I got it for under $650. Also bought the vestibule for it. We'll see how it does up here in the North Maine Woods but I'm confident after viewing your very informative video I made the right choice. Thanks for your to-the-point coverage on the tent and accessories. Nicely done.
For your stove just get a welding blanket and lay that down instead of unzipping the stove area. That way if it’s windy it won’t blow crap into your tent from the bottom being unzipped.
I think this is a great idea...Who says that you have to carry 30 to 50lbs on your back for days and pitch a small two man tent...Of course I guess you could do that if you wish...but it's not for everyone....unless of course you live in a 3rd world country...then I guess that's not called camping....it's called life....ohh and if your going to be rude to someone in English, try to at least work on your sentence structure
Bought this tent to use with a stove in the Fall and Winter. I have a Three Dog Stove that heats up the place 80+ if you need it. Love this thing. Takes a little bit to set up but you get used to it, the floor and roof protector add some time too but are worth it. I'll do everything from a two night weekend to a week upwards.
y not juz hav a log cabin built everywhere you go camping. while ur at it have electric and water lines installed too. and a baday. hahaha. ye ye such a nice tent. blah. y dont u teach ur boy how to really go camping.
There is no tent that would ever impress my wife...LOL. she wants an r.v..... she has to have the bed for her back, me i'd rather sleep on the ground, give me a good tent, a couple of cabela's deluxe camp bed a good slleping bag and i'm set. but very nice tent,
Yes its water proof. It is a 4 season tent and It does not need a rainfly. There is a vestibule that you can purchase which I will get later. In fact, it is still up in the backyard right now in the rain. The boy just can’t wait to do some real camping.
Last comment funny...... show your wife this and maybe she will come camping with you..... second thoughts.... maybe not...... ha ha.. Great tent and love them cots..... not seen then over here in the uk.
Nice Review, great tent and cot system. That was hilarious to see your young lad sleeping, he must be a sound sleeper. haha. enjoy your camping trips, thumbs up.
I bought a Colorado Cylinder Stove Spruce Model at Sportsmans Warehouse a couple of weeks ago. I just got back yesterday from deer hunting. I didn’t get a deer but the stove worked great. It got down to 25 degrees at night and the stove kept thing very comfortable once we got the air flow figured out. I paid $369 at Sportsmans Warehouse. Cableas wanted $489.
There is a twelve by twenty version if you want to sleep more then Two! Yes that's right on cots there is only room for two. I've owned one of these and although they are great tents, the twelve by twelve with the wood stove in it is just big enough for two and even then I would highly recommend the Vestibule, it is almost indispensable! we loved having it. as far as price? we're in Canada and this was several years ago so I would check but I'd say the 12x12 is around 800 and the 12x20 around 1100 I think? Don't shoot me if I'm of a bit! Either way they are wel worth it and don't skimp on the recommended accessories like the ground sheet, rainfly and spark fly! Ed
Don't listen to ETHIOLOGIST1! I've found you get what you pay for in this life. This is a quality tent that, your grown grandson will still be using. Telling his BOY he camped in this very tent with his beloved gramps. In the middle of the night, when it's cold and raining and you've been out hunting all day, you won't think you're glaming it.You'll think, "I did right by myself and my family" Enjoy. I'm sure you worked hard to be able to afford it. Don't let some num-skull make you feel guilty
You could get the Kamp-Rite Double Kwik Cot for you and your wife to sleep on. It would save space. You can even put plywood on top of it to level it off. Have you ever considered putting plywood underneath your tent?
Great tent and lightweight for its size. I have used WALL tents for years but they tend to get heavy and have no floors. I bought 2 extra tarps, one for under the tent and one for the floor. I use plywood squares to put under the cot legs to save the floor as well. The stove is a nice addition, I prefer the "4 dog stoves" .
I guess it depends on how you buy it. Online price was $799 At the store it was $839 They had the tent set up outside the store with an old price tag of $699 so thats what they sold it to me for. I got lucky on that one.
This is what Cabelas says its made of: Rugged, waterproof 250-denier polyester oxford X-Treme Tent Cloth has a high tear strength and resists punctures for lasting reliability.
Been to Cabela's many times, my youngest son thinks it's a great place, i personally think their stuff is way overpriced... I've found the same products at Academy for a lot less...
I pretty much set it up by myself the first time. My son was mostly an observer. This tent is simple and straight forward to set up, even taking it down was no big deal. It is nice to have someone help you fold it up, but really is not needed. I can see no issues with just an army of one completing this task.
How fun! Now its been a while how did the tent hold up? I am looking for one I can set up on my small ranch and just keep it up so we can play with all of our prepper toys... My husband and I live in N.CA hate to think CA doesn't have this kinda tent, gee might havta look for a Yurt LOL Heres something cool I found, let us know what you think about. SUN240 - 220/240 VAC, Portable Renewable Energy Generator 60Hz found this on Practical Preppers dot com
I'd say as long as you have the stove you'd be good to go. But what kind of winters are you talking about? (I do not have experience with this tent but much crappier tents in -30 degrees C weather with lots of snow... oh also no stove)
Very nice. Anybody ever tried running a little air conditioner in one of these for hot weather camping? I was wondering how well they hold in the cold air.
Great video, I've been thinking of getting one of these for a couple years now. I'll definately get one now after seeing the interior with your video, thanks
Outwell tents look like they can compete with cabelas on the family tent camping market. cabelas wins the hunting outfitter catagory just fine. Outwell has high quality beautifully designed tents for family camping.
+yan. yanyan when I purchased mine the online price was $799, the in store price was $835. they had a tent set up outside with an old price tag for $699. So they gave it to me for $699. I got lucky on that one!
With the cots in there it looks like there is only enough room to sleep three maybe four if you know each other really well. Glad I got to see this one all set up, I need a tent like this that sleeps six plus the stove.
Thank you for sharing! I would definitely use sand bags around it and a wood base platform for long term camping. Another thing I would add is foam flooring to keep warm.
Vote TRUMP
BAHAHAHAHA when you pulled back that sleeping bag and there was a kid in there I almost shit myself laughing xD I NEVER saw that one coming!!!
I think I would still use 6 in. squares of plywood under the cot or chair feet.
This is really nice . definitely not for over night camping. I'll say more like a week long hunting trip or homestead prep or such..
Wish you guys many long and happy camping ventures.
Unless you have servants to do this for you. Like the Africa episode of The Grand Tour lmao
Great tent, but for one person it takes me 3 hours to get the tent fully functional with bed, table two chairs, heater, roof protector and vestibule with all gear addressed. Tear down is about the same, but can be accomplished in just over two hours. Use fire retardant pad under stove. Oh yes always use a heavy tarp under the tent to protect the floor from rocks and other issues.
Can we make this like a home for a whole winter time? to avoid home rental...
I just bought one today and that’s what I plan to do with it.
Yes you can. I lived in mine for 3.5 yrs. I did however, put a tarp over it . I have since then bought a house. and I now use it every summer and occasional winter... Great investment. Cabelas is the #1 in outdoor camping equipment and necessity.
Thanks for making this video. It's probably one of the most complete overviews of the tent I've seen online. Very helpful.
My wife said the same thing about camping, just got the vestibule you will love it.......
Can any one say that the cots look like morg tables
Hehe yeah I don't like California either. Glad I moved.
I do have a video showing last years hunting/camping trip, but this tent is for everything. Hunting, Camping, and in a few weeks it will be use for a prospecting trip. No matter how it is used it will be protected and defended by several large caliber firearms.
Where's the home theatre system?
Awesome tent, just a little nicer than my apartment but about the same size, nice video
Center Pole: Approx 9'8'' tall; breaks down into one 38.75" and two 42.5" sections.
The floor isn’t real thick but I would be careful setting it up on anything sharp or pointy.

So I'm wondering how was it ? I'm from Hermon , Maine myself and was curious how it would hold up.
For your stove just get a welding blanket and lay that down instead of unzipping the stove area. That way if it’s windy it won’t blow crap into your tent from the bottom being unzipped.
Difficult to watch with so much movement.

So the floor and roof protector are sold separately?
Yes
Kick ass tent.
y not juz hav a log cabin built everywhere you go camping. while ur at it have electric and water lines installed too. and a baday. hahaha. ye ye such a nice tent. blah. y dont u teach ur boy how to really go camping.
I will go check their web site next but I wanted to ask you as well. where do you plan on buying your stove?
There is no tent that would ever impress my wife...LOL. she wants an r.v..... she has to have the bed for her back, me i'd rather sleep on the ground, give me a good tent, a couple of cabela's deluxe camp bed a good slleping bag and i'm set. but very nice tent,
ok send me one of these
ill take one to
Looks like you guys are really roughing it. Hope you survive out there in the backwoods. Watch out for robbers, uh I mean bears ,at that campsite .
Thanks Joe for the back up and setting me straight.
I do have to work hard for what I have, and my dad also use to say "you get what you pay for".
Beautiful, just don’t care for a pole in the center. High quality tent!
Have you set this up by yourself yet? Just wondering how hard that would be, if even possible? Thanks
At the time I bought it $700
good vid but i think it would be like a normal tent without all that stuff in there right?
Nice...could live out of that. All I'd need a lounge chair.
That's not a tent, that's a single wide. LOL.
I have always wondered how long I will call him "boy".
Whatever happened to roughing it.?
How much was it?
At the time $749 on sale, but they had an old price tag on the display tent outside so I got it for that price $699.
Yes its water proof. It is a 4 season tent and It does not need a rainfly. There is a vestibule that you can purchase which I will get later. In fact, it is still up in the backyard right now in the rain. The boy just can’t wait to do some real camping.
It would probably be more fun if you went camping with it.

I really like this tent and I enjoyed your video tour of it!
Last comment funny...... show your wife this and maybe she will come camping with you..... second thoughts.... maybe not...... ha ha.. Great tent and love them cots..... not seen then over here in the uk.
Its a little more than a normal tent. It has a stove jack for a wood burning stove. If you want to see it with the stove, watch my Snake Lake video.
Nice Review, great tent and cot system. That was hilarious to see your young lad sleeping, he must be a sound sleeper. haha. enjoy your camping trips, thumbs up.
Nice set up now I need to get the same set up

HAHAHAHAHAHA....... Got to love that urban camping, the boy does. Perhaps then do that with the wife and save the other for you and the boy.... hahaha

Nice tent! But I dont think I could do the mummy bags, I move around too much when I sleep. :-)
Also what bird is that heard at 1:26?
Nice tent and good on you for including the family. What I want to know is who are the 70 morons that continually dislike every post on youtube?
Been to Cabela's many times, my youngest son thinks it's a great place, i personally think their stuff is way overpriced... I've found the same products at Academy for a lot less...
I can carry it by myself as long as I don't have to go too far. Two people would be ideal. My son and I carry it with no problem.
I pretty much set it up by myself the first time. My son was mostly an observer. This tent is simple and straight forward to set up, even taking it down was no big deal. Is there a part 2 where your actually in the tent, NOT IN YOUR YARD???
wam blue th-cam.com/video/h9V1ytVPmVk/w-d-xo.html
I think I may get the vestibule this year myself.
I bought a 12'x12' tarp online that fits perfect to help protect the floor.
My boy really likes camping. He can’t wait to go again. We finally got to put it to good use while hunting at Snake Lake.
Last year I spent 40K on a 24' yurt (and love it) but for some reason, I want this tent!
You will call him your boy forever. I am 46 & my father still calls me "boy" Honestly,I wouldn't mind if I wasn't his daughter.
Love to see well used camping gear. Too many videos today seem to be shot in the back yard.
very nice video amazing!!!!
do yo think the 12 x 12 tent is big enough for 4 pepole and a stove or to go with the 20x12 Cabela's Ultimate Alaknak?
if you go with the disco bunk beds, four would be no problem.
if i my ask how did you get it for 699$ i need also to drive to to cabela to buy some stuff
+yan. yanyan when I purchased mine the online price was $799, the in store price was $835. they had a tent set up outside with an old price tag for $699. So they gave it to me for $699. I got lucky on that one!
+E. Olemite Compare $700 bucks to $ thousands for an RV and you won't even sweat the price !
+WH actually you can get used rv for a few thousand .... Much better than a tent. DUH No sweat!
It is easy to put up. Check out my other Cabelas video to see the tent with a wood stove.
Great camp spot, you can still hear the dinner bell and have WiFi. .lol
Great tent, just don't use it in cold weather. The condensation requires a lot of mopping.
Too much camera movement. I got dizzy watching.
It sure would be nice to use but I am sure it would be a pain in the butt to transport.
I have one just like it and love it. I am looking for a four dog stove and vestibule to add to mine.
What a fuckin orsome tent!
Thumbs up when you uncovered the boy ! Good video .
Nice set up ... They are awsome tents ... Good luck in your adventures
Hey, he frickin sounds like frickin Todd from frickin Gold Rush. I would've thought it frickin was him except he didn't say frickin...
Todd doesn't speak as lazy as this guy. This guy acts like he is to tired to even talk.
dqmn i want one of these wonder how much it costs its probably $500
How many fat chicks can i safely hold?
We just bought this tent at Cabela's and we are heading out in a few weeks! Great video, thank you!
👍
Not Ultimate , takes too long to set up and take down
Well how much did ya spend on that tent???
Awesome tent!!! Hope you have lots of great family memories using it!!
Hilarious, your boy was in the bag 🤗
the only thing I dont like about this tent is there is no where to hang a light up/ You have to rig a rope on the center pole
They sell hangers that mount on the center pole.
Does the cot/bed come in a full size?
With the cots in there it looks like there is only enough room to sleep three maybe four if you know each other really well. Glad I got to see this one all set up, I need a tent like this that sleeps six plus the stove.
+Jesse Beckton Get a cabin.
A whole Division could fit in there.
Is it safe for winter camping? what about wind resistance?
Got sleep next to my lady, not that far away
u failed to mension the price of the tent😣
please tell me this is for hunting trips not camping?
Looks realy nice mate...what's the damage...pricewise
Nothing like roughing it. HaHaHa.
I liked it when you said California sucks
Thank you for sharing! I would definitely use sand bags around it and a wood base platform for long term camping. Another thing I would add is foam flooring to keep warm.
Patricia Hurt
..... That not a camp, it's a home..
Robin Conkel-hAnnan lol!! you are right :-)
+Patricia Hurt You want to camp or move in?
Will this fit in my day pack?
