I've seen #97... BUT I BET After the wreck the locomotive was rebuilt & restored by the American Locomotive Company and Given as a tourist train to Essex Conecticut
Broady's 1102 was renumbered and not scrapped. It was haunted by the ghost of a headless crewman and left to rust on a northern Virginia siding which has since passed into private ownership.
The train never made it onto the trestle. It left the track in the curve and plunged into the ravine where the trestle bridged Stillhouse Creek. Cheesy? Apparently you've never seen a 60 mph train wreck...and "scalded to death by the steam" doesn't accurately describe Broady's injuries. The flesh was literally flayed off his upper body, arms, and face clean to the bone.
Love how even though it was the railroad that pressured the engineer to speed to make up time, the lesson at the end of the song is somehow for....women. Just sayin'
I remember watching this when I was little. This introduced me to the world of railroad music. I love this song!
This video did for me too!
Wonderful video to this great song.
This is awsome. Great footage that even I can't acomplish, and great music to go with it too.
Boxcar Willie sings this the best this is the first time hearing this song with out him singing it
Almost sounds similar to the one heard on my old cassette "Treasury of Railroad Songs" featuring Wayne Moore.
Poor Steve...
The wreck of old 97 happened September 27th 1903
In Danville virginia
that's my birthday date but not the year
The Paradise Express.
Is that where the footage is from? I’ve seen it used in other productions, like the film serial Zorro Rides Again.
Hey that looks like Pacific Fruit Express Cars!
You've got sharp eyes if you can make that out. What makes you think they are?
its pretty obvious a 1:06, the design looks like it
I totally agree. It is the Pacific Fruit Express cars. I love that train! I recognize that '50s design anywhere.
By the time old 97 reached Lynchburg Virginia they were 47minutes behind time

After the wreck, the engine was recovered and repaired. It continued to work until July of 1935 when it was dismantled.
@@Fanofthomas31 yes it was a Southern Railway steam engine that derailed. It has since been scrapped many years after the wreck.
that’s VALE 97. completely different engine. the train number was 97 and the locomotive number was 1102.

The engineer on the run his full name was Joseph a Steve Brody
What is the source of the film segments?
What movie is this footage from?
The Paradise express
the train was down to the bottom of the hill and was crashed
It still sounds the same as the remake
Wich train you use in this great video
Unoin Pacific 2-6-2?
Poor steve
cool
"Never speak harsh words to your true loving husband, he may leave you and never return" 💀
It was wrote in 1903. What did you expect?
thats an old song, cum memes didnt exist in 1903
Movie name?
They don't wreck um like that anymore 😊
The disaster happened in The year 1903
I couldn't see the wreck
Ernesto Barraza same thing
I cannot see the wreck either. What the MARC's up with that?
This was a problem with the film itself apparently. I guess they couldn't do a second take even though it's clearly model trains
and then what happen on CSXT&PE NO. 970 on September 27th 1903
Train Wreck Got Orders ❤
I think the crash mighta been a little bit cheesy. It just fell off the side of a straight line bridge.

@@johntravis3500 I meant in the video.
The accident here was done using models during a time of very rudimentary filmmaking.
Was this the real old 97!!!?
56
Sawyer Tube Nyet, the real 97 was a 4-6-0 steam locomotive numbered 1102
Cameron Stefan so....
70
No, this is old footage of different trains, but still is really good.
This is a poor order for the lyrics. It has him found in the wreck BEFORE it tells the part about losing his airbrakes.
the train community does not care
Respectfully
Yeah, but it’s just a repeat of the course (r/boneappletea moment for me :/)
Can someone tell me in the comments i cant see the train crash its all dark out
####😂
"He was found in the wreck with his hand on the funnel."
Throttle.
