I got my AC guy coming next week. I’m doing a steam humidifier, auto shut off switch for my drain, cleaning my coils, and putting the light for killing allergies or something.
My wife suffers from bad allergies, and I was told this was the best thing to do

@@fireiceheatingandaircondit4363wouldn’t there be a risk of mold building up in ductwork, even more than usual with the normal A/C condensation and sweating?

That’s why you have a duct cleaning performed once every 3-5 years and you won’t have that issue 👌

No, and air conditioner works because it is removing moisture from the air. Adding more moisture adds more heat.

Steam humidifier in a home with water softener causes salt and calcium buildup. Am also told humidity will sink to lower floors. So, a whole house (mine 3500 sq ft) humidifier should be installed in the attic. Our floor plan has limited space. With these considerations do you have a whole house humidifier recommendation? The last recommendation given to me was to wall mount in the closet and run a steam line to the heat pump air handler in the attic.

Is the aprilaire 300 the best unit for a double wide with the air hander being in a room with a grill in the door for the return( being it has no return duct)?
Also would i just install it as a seperate sytem and not even tie it into the air hander?
    Thanks

If you were curious, low humidity can dry out the mucous membranes in your nose and throat, which are part of your body's defense against viruses. This can make you more susceptible to infections like the flu. Additionally, flu viruses tend to survive and spread more easily in dry air.

    • @brentgravois7955

a steam humidifier will cost more than a $1000 with install. On average the Aprilaire 800 will cost $800 just for the humidifier. Then you usually run a 240vac circuit, plus you will need additional parts for installation. After that it just depends on the cost for labor. ($150/hr give or take).

You are not saying at what percentage of humidity maximum that each humidifier can maintain for each size home which is the most important information needed to choose which unit is right for our application.
