Mr McGee don't realize his voice sound just as good as that fiddle I can listen to him all day long both fiddle playing and his vocals and thank you to the Lomax family for keeping such a rich music catalog of the hard work of John and Alan Lomax

The original recording (1929) has so much soul. He can bring it on demand here to some degree but he is an old man. Still amazing though.
I went to his house in 1988. I had acquired a beautiful original copy of "Mon Cher Bebe Creole" and I wanted him to autograph a sleeve to keep with the record. I love that recording. He came out on his porch. I requested his autograph but he said that he was sight-impaired and could not see. I later learned that he was illiterate. I revel in the thought that the human spirit can soar regardless of one's education. We share this common spirit.

Yeah man, Genre, shmenre...this man is a master of his craft. This music is his way of life and it really shows when he plays. This isn't music as much as it is the audible emotion of a man and his culture.

He was 90yrs when this was recorded, and born in 1893. Gerry didn't come around until 37'. Pure vintage Americana.

    Madame Young has two melodies.
Both Madame Young and Allons Danser Colinda have the same first melody (the Tune), but the second melody (the Turn) differs.
