The Greenlight version definitely has more detail but it's a shame the colors are completely wrong. The top was never that silvery grey but was always a very dark grey that looked almost black afaik. So while I do like the Greenlight model for its extra details; I actually prefer the 2013 Hot Wheels release for more screen-accurate colors. If only Greenlight hadn't gone for that silvery/gunmetal color...
They both have good and bad. Greenlight has better details for the lights, rear windows, better looking exhaust, painted license plate, realistic tail lights, better rims, and a "real" spoiler. The Hotwheels does have a better matching grey paint color, BFG white letter tires, GMC logo front and rear (although later vans in the show deleted the red GMC, so either could be correct), moon visor looks closer to the show version. It is a hard call as to which I like better though.
Hands down straight black looks better because most of the time during the series you couldn't tell that. the van was painted black it did not have gray some of them did
I've got a greenlight 1/64 scale a-team van and it has the BF Goodrich white letters on it's tires and l have also two hot wheels retro a-team vans that I bought six years ago 😀😀👍👍

I still have my match box cars that my mom purchase me when I was a kid the general lee the knight rider A-team van . But they are More detailed today .
Part Time Collector my mother past away about 10 years ago my Dad past way last year and when I purchased there house from my brother. I found all my old toys train set long ranger and more . I just couldn't believe it .
Sorry for your loss and congrats on finding your toys! My father passed away when I was three and I still have the cars he gave me, they are the most sentimental pieces in my collection.
I see positives and negatives for both. Over all I think Green light did better, however the size being much bigger might kill it for me. Greenlight has a tendency to make their cars too big to scale with other 1/64 cars in other lines. I love their Bluesmobile but when it's bigger than the Johnny Lightning Ecto-1 or Christine or the General Lee, that's just not quite right, lol. If this scales better in my collection than the Retro Entertainment version, then it will have a place on my shelf.
I also always open all mine too,but with absolute precision,so they can always be put back in their packages when I'm done "playing",or displaying.😚 Oh well.
Ahh, very nice! My wife would never let me keep the package after opening as our house doesn't really have a place to where we could store them. I get in enough trouble trying to keep some of my 1:18 scale boxes!

They changed the tires after they got BF Goodrich to approve the licensing.

I do wish they were more consistent with the sizing. Would nice if they were like AutoWorld and did true 1:64 scale.
Yeah I have the Autoworld Christine in my collection and it scales beautifully. It kinda sucks I have to pick and choose but I do so enjoy the hunt.

I do not keep them, I prefer displaying the cars loose in a display so that at times I can take them out to look at the details. :)
