Live yea he’s the lead instrument more often than not. But he records all the bass parts in his music. So he has 5 strings at least and I’ve seen him with 6 strings in some of the flecktones videos before he had the compito 5 string fretless basses.
I've never known he existed until about 3 months ago now I can't stop listening to him he's great I love his funky d album and more recently you can't hold a groove without a pocket
Johnny too bad I was thinking it sounded quite J Bass-ish. I have a J Bass and I’m a big fan of Marcus Miller and listening to this I was thinking the exact same thing
the late prince would be stoked to hear how victor jammed on his song! prince would audition bass players with a larry graham tune, and see if they could expand on it. he would leave the room, and come back 10-15 mins later. he wanted too hear how the bass player could play one of larry's tunes with a different vibe..
Why Don"'t We See Victoor's Last Updates , Last Concerts . He Is AN EXTRA ORDINARY Man . I Miss His MUSIC Alott . Marcus Miller Seems Quiet An ACTIVE Artist . i See Wooten Only In Such Gatherings ........ Wooten Will Never Die , This Guy Has Reached To The Extremes .
This groove is most certainly straight from the bass solo in Room 335 by Larry Carlton and Lee Ritenour. Don't believe me? Check it out! Bass solo starts at 4:20 Larry Carlton & Lee Ritenour - Room 335 @ live 720p 4-3 HD
YOU ARE SO RIGHT. you know there are some people who can't stand when someone do something good but these people cant stand when you do it better so they got no choice but to hate. a bunch of sob.
Whatever they are, I like them better :) Duncan makes great pickups too, I have Quarter Pounders in my Fender and a Basslines MM4 in my acoustic electric bass (!)
You can hear there's more definition in the top-end than EMGs. I learn alot from Vic's Groove Workshop video a while back. Master Bass Player...no doubt.
I know it's more or less the bass line from "lets work", but i think he's also mashing some other prince songs in there.. So what's this riff at 6:34 ?.. or is that still the same song just something he added to it?
More meat. But still the same clarity as Mr Wooten's own bass. It would make a great second bass for Mr Wooten.I have heard his bass reall. And upclose at Warwick basscamp 2014.
When you grow up on an instrument and create a musical language it becomes so comfortable it seems like part of you. I see Victor with his fretless, 5 string, and upright bass every now and then, but when he plays his 4 string it just seems completely natural and as close to completely natural as you get for a musician.
I dont think anyone will out play victor, he is a legend❤
I love that he always uses 4 strings..
He plays a Fodera NYC 5 strings too.
Live yea he’s the lead instrument more often than not. But he records all the bass parts in his music. So he has 5 strings at least and I’ve seen him with 6 strings in some of the flecktones videos before he had the compito 5 string fretless basses.
That's why a lot of us can't stop! That's fun and passion playing! Respect Mr. Wooten
I've seen several Namm bassists but Victor is hands down the best!
My favorite bass player of all. Victor is such a humble person to meet. You would never think he's is a great as he actually is. A true gentleman.
I've never known he existed until about 3 months ago now I can't stop listening to him he's great I love his funky d album and more recently you can't hold a groove without a pocket
Jesus Christ. Sorry man but have you been living underground? You never heard of Wooten until 3 months ago? Damn.
The best sounding fodera so far.
I was thinking the same thing. Like a fat 70 j bass
Johnny too bad I was thinking it sounded quite J Bass-ish. I have a J Bass and I’m a big fan of Marcus Miller and listening to this I was thinking the exact same thing
Victor’s so good, he didn’t even realize he was playing bass😂
Victor Wooten is over flowing with talent.
One of the best bass players alive...
This Fodera sounds amazing!
Absolutely fucking otherwordly!
the late prince would be stoked to hear how victor jammed on his song! prince would audition bass players with a larry graham tune, and see if they could expand on it. he would leave the room, and come back 10-15 mins later. he wanted too hear how the bass player could play one of larry's tunes with a different vibe..
NAMM chops right there. Go Vic!!!
they did a great job sounding like a Fender Vic is the man.
One of the Greatest.
I love to hear Victor on Seymour Duncan’s Dual coils 🔥 🎸
That's a fat jazz bass sound, i'm in love!!
Fodera with dual coils are the bestttt!!
And Wooten is the man
Yesssssssssss. Big smile You give me !!!
He is playing Prince's his bassline on Let's Work
my fingers hurts see this video... victor the almighty... :)9
classic line from "Lets Work" played by Prince.
Master! No comment! It's Wooten.
This bass sounds like it’s hollow inside. Amazing sound
the king!
He's a beast on those strings! Killin' Prince's funky song "lets work" from the album Controversy
Victor has an enviable understanding of TIME...
Victor your a God of bass man
Loved that 'Word Up' groove!
聞き惚れるね。
The song is "Lets work by Prince Roger Nelson...
He also started playing Squib Cakes by Tower of Power for a bit.
The end sounded like Cameo's Word Up. And a tune from the first Ghostbuster's movie.

outerspace bass .. the G.O.A.T hand down .... that mans been messing with that thing for a long time !!!!!!
Word up victa!!!
I think Vic should do a video where he walks into a second hand shop, picks up the worst bass he can find and then proceeds to make it sound AWSOME!
thx for the video !
sounds incredible
He's got a real Marcus sound going on in this video
I just thought the same
I totally agree. He has the bass in his pops which is something Marcus is a big advocate for😄
True but Marcus plays more melodic things…victor is quite boring
Master wooten mastering...
Eli Rodrigues *Mastered. ;)
Aaron Simonds
lol yup, a better term.
! Legend !

Lo máximo Victor Wooten.
This bass has a seriously live G string, the bass sounds killer!
It's Prince "Let's work".. Then he kicks "Word up"..
very good Mr Gooten
this is SLAP!!!
At the end of the song, reminded me of the Word Up of the Korn
Original is by Cameo. Look it up, it's killer.
thanks man .. :)
swelsher thanks indeed
I think you mean Cameo.
who would thumbs down this video? wow haters in the house..... but i do see that certain bassist get the thumbs down and i know why...... ; )
YOU ARE SO RIGHT. you know there are some people who can't stand when someone do something good but these people cant stand when you do it better so they got no choice but to hate. a bunch of sob.
At this point, regular slapping effortless to Victor. He needs to break a string or play upside down for a challenge lol
Justin Barnett I think he reached that point a couple of decades ago
Howard is back there speechless
It's the bass line to Let's Work by Prince!
Let's Work!!!
He played it yesterday in Musikmesse, killed it! As usual :)))
More like in Köln, there is Musicstore..Probably the biggest in the world, but still, not the most interesting brands, same goes for prices
***** cool, they have more interesting brands, but it's too far from Belgium :(
Let’s Work!!
that bass now worth more
Prince song..
LET'S WORK< PRINCE!!!
Fuck yeah! Feels like indecent bass porn.....mighty Victor!
haha funny..
Those Nordstrand pups sound so much better then the EMG's
I believe those are Fodera's standard Seymour Duncan dual coils. They do resemble Nordstrands DCs though.
Whatever they are, I like them better :)
Duncan makes great pickups too, I have Quarter Pounders in my Fender and a Basslines MM4 in my acoustic electric bass (!)

Cameos Word up at the end..lol
grosso como siempre!! el mejor!!

He is one of the Worlds Best Bassist's and enough bs about racists
What this guy does with 4 strings . . .
Looks like Wooten is not happy with his playing.....
he probly just dosent feel like trying cus he plays alllllll the time, it seems like.
dystonia... ;(
The bass doesn't have to much space to do slap, i think that
6:19
Heavy gauge strings? 😔
Heavier than what he normally uses
Who's the fucking daddy!
Would it kill you to play some finger style bass? No disrespect intended.
Fuck yeah! Feels like indecent bass porn.....marvelous VW like always!
More meat. But still the same clarity as Mr Wooten's own bass. It would make a great second bass for Mr Wooten.I have heard his bass reall. And upclose at Warwick basscamp 2014.
why does victor uses four strings a lot? is it because it's not too much work?
Just general preference I think.
Because a bass that has over 4 strings is just ridiculous.
Lol I guess no one really knows
When you grow up on an instrument and create a musical language it becomes so comfortable it seems like part of you. I see Victor with his fretless, 5 string, and upright bass every now and then, but when he plays his 4 string it just seems completely natural and as close to completely natural as you get for a musician.
playing what he plays on a four string is Extremely hard lol
he is not peeple...
:(
lol
XD
Master! No comment! It's Wooten.
