      No kidding, I’m trying to transition from the Fashion/Apparel Industry to IT just because the Fashion industry is very niche and it’s not something you can find “anywhere” not to mention it’s very involved in networking to actually grow within the industry. I want the flexibility and technicality of IT, but some of the entry level positions I’ve seen have ridiculous requirements “Help Desk entry level looking for 10yra of exp with sec+ net+ ccna ceh, etc” like… Is it a Help Desk entry level job? Or do you want a senior IT project manager? Like… it makes no sense.

    All of this looks great, but I think companies want full-stack applications. I know Stefan wants to be a front-end developer, but what helped me become a front-end developer in Serbia was a full-stack application, specifically a social media application.
    Companies are looking for engineers who understand the entire process and have a sample they can showcase.
    Pro tip: 🚀 Create a short TH-cam video (3-5 minutes) about the application you're talking about in English.

    This is incredibly well done for a portfolio. It's strange he chose to use center-positioned text for the content of the first one (with the car) and then swapped to left-positioned text (which I would almost always recommend for content) for further projects. But I assume this was done because of the templates he may have been using for styling these sites. It's even responsive for mobile.
    Excellent.

Even if my goal is to work on more application style websites these business websites make your portfolio look professional. You can also make them pretty quickly if you have mastered the basics.

      don't feel like that the issue is you might not be learning in the right place. also the thing that helps this portfolio the most is the designs of each project they all nice and clean. You can do the same thing but just have to take your time with each project and make sure is a project someone would be willing to pay you for it.

    • @DolanComic
      @DolanComic ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, I've just been following guides and tutorials for the last while after learning the fundamentals of HTML/CSS, and as I keep creating new website features and pages with the guides, I can see myself getting closer to this point. Once you've designed a header from scratch once, you can always copy + paste that, essentially, and work from there. Same with a footer, Hero Banner, Contact Forms, etc :) Just taking it step by step has worked best for me. One channel I love to check out is Hyperplexed. He's constantly spotting features on websites that he likes and then attempts to create it and make his own guide as he does it. Once you've built 10+ website elements with his guides (if you haven't already), you'll feel much more comfortable with your toolkit.
      What is it that you're starting to doubt about your work? Is it the quality of your projects? Or the quantity, like you haven't created enough?
      Don't let this guy's 10-month timeline intimidate you. Comparison is the thief of joy and progress. I've spent 4+ years as a wordpress/shopify web dev that picked up HTML, CSS, JS over the years, and am just now pushing to get into React and other frameworks. Even after so much time and energy, I am not as ahead as this guy. However, creating 3 websites like his is not that tough as long as you split it up into small pieces.

    • @alec3979
      @alec3979 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You need to realize that the main thing which makes these projects look so great is the designs... And the designs are not by Stefan, they were made by other people. Don't doubt yourself.

    This portfolio is impressive! Just curious, most recruiters / companies expect more than just good design and CSS skills. Are the repositories not rated by their js at all?
    I think it would be a good idea to mock up an API and have the app consume it. That way you can show a deeper level of proficiency with web apps.

      But the issue is, everybody almost follow the same guide lines for API. I have made SPA in ReactJS that takes API data from my Wordpress blogs. I have also done a PHP Laravel that takes API from a Wordpress blog site. The wordpress theme is of course all custom coded with PHP and JS.
      You need to stand out - but yes the responsive part is very important. For my part a site is not done untill every thing works in every grid screen. So pull ya media queires forth LOL

      I was thinking the same, this is great showcase of 'website' building skills but companies look for 'application' building skills.. which means complex state management and routing etc.. what's shown here is kind of just plain websites for which React is kinda overkill.

      finally, someone who thinks like me, I'm really struggling and taking a long time building projects that has a backend with a database, since I built the portfolio I think having many static pages is not attractive to the recruiters, so I will continue building

    My advice to this guy is to not mention he is from Serbia. People just wont hit you up but if you can get to the interview phase where they already contact you etc. they're more likely to negotiate from there.
