Great teacher thank you. Never even played a drum before but love drum music and was randomly given a djembe drum for Christmas. Finding it easy to follow with your great instructions and rhythm. Thank you

In the second Macrou you seem to demonstrate the 2 tones using Left then right hand then after adding in the slaps you change from Right to left. I am confused.

Where are the dancers? I believe my feet are more dominant than my hands! I missed your demos and appreciate the time you've taken to give us the best always! Thanks again!👏 A dance arrangement in the book?

Great instruction! I love learning new Djembe beats and rythms!
Also love the Dr. Beat! Reminds me of High School Drum Line!

Actually the first rythm he played is exactly the holandé rhythm of bomba.

Hi colany, you may remember me Don Celestino nd my partner Gayle when we attended your flute retreat a fe w years ago… we are living in Laguna woods having moved here recently. I’m looking for resources such as djembe repairs and maintenance…..and could use some local contacts if you have any. Trusting all is well and looking forward to hearing from you,,,

Hi sir. The first pattern you played is exactly the holandé rhythm from the Puerto Rico bomba. That's cool.

It is so strange - I am trying to learn dun dun and the left hand keeps the main beat... For some reason, I find with this piece that I have to use my left hand to keep the beat. I'm not sure if it is because of the dundun practice lol

I am having difficulty transcribing part 2, though I can play it listening. I have the book but it's not transcribed with the X and O system. Is there anyplace this is written out. I have the CD but have not had a chance to listen yet.

I hope one day you'll hear the Dununs for Macrou. When you do, you'll be playing right along with them, no doubt.

Hi Mr. Kalani. I have a question. Rhythm Macrou no. 2. hand rotation - 1234 1234 1234 1234 B..S .TT. B.S. .TT. RLRL RLRL RLRL RLRL R..L .LR. R.R. .LR. It should be played there twice with the left hand in a row? Do not constantly rotate your hands throughout the rhythm. Or do you play a different rhythm Macrou? I know the rhythm Macrou B..S .TT. B.S. .TT. Thank you for your lessons 1* Have a nice day. miky

Generally, we don’t alternate the lead hand for patterns. Thank you for the question.

Simple yet fantastic. Basic drum rhythms can be so relaxing. The primitive beats go back most to the dawn of 👨man
