I've seen the 3 light about 2008, in CT. It was just silently hovering, and I could see the silhouette(triangle). So either it was close to the ground and made no noise or it was massive and high up. My friend and I turned off the car engine and stepped out to watch it for a minute before it took off north and banked east towards the ocean.
