I saw your video a year ago. I can proudly say that my horse bows due to your method. Your method is easy and is so much better than other methods I have tried in the past. I use carrots as a reward. I preform a trick at the end of my riding. It's a fun way to end the day with my horse. 😎
This method works so well, I was able to teach my all 3 of my horses to bow within about 2 weeks!! I love your videos and all your tutorials!! they are all always so helpful
I love how you use a horse/horses that don’t already know how to do it, OR are half way through the training, AND that you are not using ropes! It gives us an idea of what to watch for. …on that note, after watching your help/training video, I introduced the initial steps of learning to bow today. :-)
I love your channel.. your so clear with your body language. my filly has picked up everything I've put to her so far.. she's so cleaver.. thankyou. you don't realise how easy you've made it..
Love your method of tutorials! Looks like you really have a good understanding of your horses and are very patient but not loose with them :) Love the closeness and respect between you and your horses! Subscribed definitely :) x
I need help, I have been trying to teach my 12.2hh welsh how to bow but she is a little bit to un-co so she backs up when her head is down and have her leg and i ask her to shift her weight, we have been working on it but no improvements from this point thanks
no doubt. I know your jk around that your horse is evil by the 😂 but it's an unnatural stance and I could care less if my horse can bow. but more power to whoever likes their horse to do this. I thought ur comment was funny and honest. 👍
nemo is so cute! i'm in love with him lol! i can't wait to finish teaching my horse this! started about a year ago but then badly broke my arm so i was out of riding and working for 3 months! haven't gotten around to finishing teaching him! going to today though! xxx
Love this, great tutorial! It helps so much, I've already got the bow started but I couldn't figure out how to switch to the tap on the leg. Thanks so much!!
Thank you!!! I watch another video about this but after a week my miniature horse still didn't know how to bow but when I watched your video on 1 day my horse new how to bow!
I'm loving these so much!!! Please keep up with the amaxing tutorials! Some ideas of tutorials that might be interesting are the sit and spanish walk, but those might be a little advanced too. Anyways, I love your tutorials!
Spanish walk is being made right now and i want nemo to be more comfortable with the lay down before i teach the sit! But i will take videos as soon as i start working on it to show you guys start to finish!
I dunno if this will work with my horse because she's a very tall horse. Jane, (my horse) was actually bred to be a race horse so that's why shes so tall. I'll try it though. I can't wait to try it!! But since she's so tall I think it will be a little tougher and longer to get her to bow.
awesome! Thank you very much. The only method they showed me was with carrots between the leg, so they had to put the face between the legs but you always needed carrots or simillar and the neg could not stay in the "natural" position. I will try this one! :)
Great as always! I love the fact that you included two very different examples (like a really big horse and a really little pony haha) and I also like that you show when they don't do it right, because sometimes people just show the good things and I get high expectations haha I have already started teaching this to my horse (in a different way but also without ropes) he´s almost there but sometimes he feels unsure when putting his leg on the ground, like he pulls his weigh back and leans down his body and neck but the last step is difficult for him.
I look after a miniature cross shetland and i feel like he'd have great potential in tricks like these. I want to teach him bow but ive already taught him paw (my fault) so when i try pick up his leg or try lure his head in between his knees or try any of these techniques he sees it as a sign or aid to paw. Help would be highly appreciated x
I like your method, but I'm having a problem with keeping my horse down when he bows. And he's to strong for me to try to hold down like you do with Nemo. Did you succeed on doing it with Jake, and how did you do it? I noticed a sound that you do as a"clicker", am I correct? Do you use the same sound for every trick that you teach your horses? Thankful for a response! :)
My horse is doing really well with the bow but as soon as his knee touches the ground he pulls it back up. This has been going on for about a month know and I don’t know how to progress. Do you have any tips? Thank you for making these videos it’s really helped with teaching foxy liberty and tricks xx
I've subscribed to you, but do you have basic training vids on just riding and tacking? I've owned horses years ago but I finally have a chance to "get back in the saddle " over the years my back pain has increased tremendously but I so miss my horses, I just need to refresh on my basics. Maybe it will all just come back to me but the horses Im going to be working with and choring for are not mine. All 5 of mine have passed. Thats how long I've been without owning a horse. I've met the new horses in the pasture and have picked up easily again with my greeting a new horse and they are starting to know and trust me. 😊 but since they're not mine I want to be as sure as possible as to not harm myself or my new equine friends. (I forgot how much I even love the smell of them) 😄
👌 Thanks :) How do you handle horses which don't have this BIG Motivation? My Horse has a Problem with learning the Bow because he has not that Motivation..❤️
How do you teach a horse to bow down, with both legs to the front . Like a cat does … without kneeling? How would you teach that ? Thank you in advance, greetings from Germany
My horse will backup with pressure on her chest, but she goes really far and nearly falls down. Any thing to help me with this? I don’t want her to have that habit that every time I push on her chest that she’ll fall over 😓
Your technique really works for my horse Junior but I have a quick question when going down to the bow his fought hov touches his back hov how do I fix this?
This is a good method for me! What I do is a grab a carrot and bring it down between her legs then my pony puts her knee on the ground then she bows! This is also a good method!
do you ever have issues with the horse trying to bow when the farrier comes out or cleaning out their feet? Especially while they are still learning the trick? Any advice on how to help them separate the two ideas?
how long did it take jack to do the trick I lease a taller horse almost 17 hands and can be a bit whip shy but has the potential to this stuff do u have any advise
What do you do if your horse doesn't rock their weight back? Since I'm not that big, it's hard for my mare to understand what I'm asking. We also don't have a very good bond so maybe that's it? She will bow if I put a treat in between her legs and pick up one of her legs, but I don't want to continue to train her like that because I want to add the whip cue. How would I do that?
hey i know this is an old video but does anyone have some tips. whenever i try this with my mare she goes into a bow really quick and then gets out of it really quickly. i cant teach the all right cue because she gets agitated if she stays in it for more than a few seconds. if anyone has any tips please reply!
Hi, I love your way of training and respect with the horses! I own a 12 yr old paint mare and I've tried this with her. When I ask her to back up with her leg up, she puts her hoof down on the ground. She isn't shifting her weight backwards either. She just doesn't understand what I'm asking her to do. I haven given up yet...should I keep trying? What is your opinion on what to do? Thank you so much!
A lot of times with the bow you're going to need to get a little "physical" and by that I don't mean force your horse down but let them put their weight on you. Some horse are more naturally balanced than others. With the more unbalanced horses you will need to support then and HELP them balance by holding some of their weight when first teaching the bow. Your horse needs to be able to trust that you are not trying to make him/her fall over but that you are there to "catch him". Hope this helps!
Hey, I'm training my horse to do liberty for a school progress (BEST PROJECT EVER), it'll happen over a course of a year. Would you teach them the liberty circles first then the bow, or vice versa? Lemme know, thanks!
i love how you teach another horse while teaching people instead of using a horse thats already trained to do it
Wow, this really helped! I like how you're so respectful to your horses. You don't see that often anymore.
Nemo is adorable
And thanks for making these
It's so hard to find trick training videos that don't use ropes
Emma Souplik I was about to say that lol
I saw your video a year ago. I can proudly say that my horse bows due to your method. Your method is easy and is so much better than other methods I have tried in the past. I use carrots as a reward. I preform a trick at the end of my riding. It's a fun way to end the day with my horse. 😎
I love how you are strict yet not cruel! you do not let your horses get away with anything and your still gentle when they dont do it right!
This method works so well, I was able to teach my all 3 of my horses to bow within about 2 weeks!! I love your videos and all your tutorials!! they are all always so helpful
Sydney Cantrell I wish I had a horse to teach this too 🤣
I love how you use a horse/horses that don’t already know how to do it, OR are half way through the training, AND that you are not using ropes! I need help, I have been trying to teach my 12.2hh welsh how to bow but she is a little bit to un-co so she backs up when her head is down and have her leg and i ask her to shift her weight, we have been working on it but no improvements from this point

Hi.
Your minaiture is the cutest little thing!!! Wonderful tutorial as well. Thank you 😊
Ur lucky ur horse is not evil like my mare, she would reach her head down and snatch my hair out 😂
wshuwrhre1 awww, no horse is born a bad horse ;)
no doubt. I know your jk around that your horse is evil by the 😂 but it's an unnatural stance and I could care less if my horse can bow. but more power to whoever likes their horse to do this. I thought ur comment was funny and honest. 👍
wshuwrhre1 funny
wshuwrhre1 same lol😂
wshuwrhre1 lol
Thank you so much for uploading this. Almost every other tutorial on TH-cam uses rougher methods, but you actually think about the horse. ☺️
nemo is so cute! i'm in love with him lol! i can't wait to finish teaching my horse this! started about a year ago but then badly broke my arm so i was out of riding and working for 3 months! haven't gotten around to finishing teaching him! going to today though! xxx
Oh my goodness you did amazing!!!! Definitely going to try this with my horse!! Thank you!
this is exactly what I did to teach mine and then I saw this video! so glad I taught her this way because she remains so relaxed!
my mare doesn't want to do this 😥😭 but I'm trying every day. I loveee your videos!
give him treats and never give up😉
2 years later did she ever do it???
Did she do it?
mares can be mean and stubborn
Alexandra Robbins no they don’t ?

Love this, great tutorial! It helps so much, I've already got the bow started but I couldn't figure out how to switch to the tap on the leg. Thanks so much!!

Thank you!!! I watch another video about this but after a week my miniature horse still didn't know how to bow but when I watched your video on 1 day my horse new how to bow!

I live your videos! They are so beautiful and cute!
Love this tutorial!! Worked perfectly with my horse :)
I dunno if this will work with my horse because she's a very tall horse. Jane, (my horse) was actually bred to be a race horse so that's why shes so tall. I'll try it though. I can't wait to try it!! But since she's so tall I think it will be a little tougher and longer to get her to bow.

keep working on it! some horses are really balanced and get it right away and some it takes a while for them to build the balance/confidence!
I am going to teach my horse how to bow! That was a vary good video!

I like your method, but I'm having a problem with keeping my horse down when he bows. And he's to strong for me to try to hold down like you do with Nemo. I Cant Wait to try it! My mare is sassy though... so ill probably have a horse slobbered shirt of her trying to bite me. LOL
How do you teach them do listen to with whip as a cue to bow?

Can u do a video of a horse outing their leg on a bucket please
I love your videos they are amazing ❣
do you ever have issues with the horse trying to bow when the farrier comes out or cleaning out their feet? Especially while they are still learning the trick? Any advice on how to help them separate the two ideas?
When you have shire and his foot alone weighs more than me
No, Miranda is saying that Miranda's horse is a shire
lolol
Shire horses are my favorite breed
You're so lucky
thanks, this is quite helpful! However, I only have a small space to train my pony in, would that matter? x
Jake is HUGE!!! Awesome method though!!!!
how long did it take jack to do the trick I lease a taller horse almost 17 hands and can be a bit whip shy but has the potential to this stuff do u have any advise

What about a Throughbred?

Can't wait to do this with my horse
How do you tell when the horse is ready for the next method?
Omg the white 🐎 is beautiful
how do you make the transition to being on their back?
How do you transfer from on the ground to on their back?
could you please do a tutorial on smile ☺
Hey, I'm training my horse to do liberty for a school progress (BEST PROJECT EVER), it'll happen over a course of a year. Would you teach them the liberty circles first then the bow, or vice versa?
Lemme know, thanks!
Hi, I taught my yearling to bow, in a week. She tucks her her head under her chest though, is that ok or is there anything I should do about it
How long do you typically work on this in one day?
question: what should i teach first? bow or spanisch walk?
What do you use for treats?
I am having some trouble actually getting my 16.2 TB to go down he will back with the shoulder pressure but won't actually bend down
