0:38 You must know structure of computer system to understand how OS works
1:41 A computer has one or more CPU s and a number of device controllers connected through a Bus that provides access to shared memory .
2:27 CPU - Central Processing Unit
4:09 Hardware devices are connected to device controllers / adapters
5:20 Shared memory (the memory that may be simultaneously accessed by multiple programs)
7:56 To ensure orderly access to the ‘ shared memory ’ requires a memory controller. The function of the memory controller is to synchronise access to the main memory.
    9:38 Bootstrap program
    11:26 Kernel
    12:00 Interrupt
    13:52 System call

Where have you been all my life? How did you make a concept I really did not understand all semester just click as clearly and simply as you did? I am so grateful for you sir! You are definitely an educator!🤓 It's like I had all the pieces of the puzzle but they just werent coming together no matter how much I became familiar and examined the pieces individually or holistically, then you came and provided perspective and knew what knowledge I was missing to connect the dots! I appreciate you. Thank you.

    Clear Elaboration by the speaker.
This tutorial contains a clear explanation of structure of computer ( device, device controllers, bus , memory and CPU). Moreover it explains the term interrupts distinguishing them from system call. In addition to the explanation of interrupts, it also explains how CPU attends to interrupts by execution interrupts services routines.

A modern general-purpose computer system consists of one or more CPUs and a number of device controllers connected through a common bus that provides access to shared memory.
To ensure orderly access to the shared memory, a memory controller is provided whose function is to synchronize access to the memory
    1) Bootstrap Program:-
    - The initial program that runs when a computer is powered up or rebooted. - It is stored in the ROM.
    - It must know how to load the OS and start executing that system.
    - It must locate and load into memory the OS Kernel.
    2) Interrupt:
    - The occurence of an event is usually signalled by an Interrupt from Hardware or Software.
    - Hardware may trigger an interrupt at any time by sending a signal to the
CPU, usually by the way of the system bus.
    3) System Call (Monitor call):
    - Software may trigger an interrupt by executing a special
    operation called System Call.

In computer architecture, a USB controller, also called a Universal Serial Bus controller, is a chip that acts as an intermediary between the computer's central processing unit (CPU) and the USB devices you connect to it.
eg: Keyboards and Mice: Essential for everyday computer use.
Webcams: Used for video conferencing and online calls.
