  • I needed to clean out the tracks of my captain's chairs because they were no longer moving very well.
My vehicle is currently 10 years old, so breaking the torque on the bolts was a job.
After I cleaned out the tracks and added new grease, the seats move perfectly. I am happy with the results but it was an annoying job to do.
To remove the seats, I used:
    air compressor
    air tools (impact wrenches)
    15mm sockets
PB Blaster (to help loosen the bolts)
To clean the tracks, I used:
    tweezers to remove large debris
    toothbrush
    napkins
    hot, soapy water
To grease the tracks after cleaning, I used:
    white lithium grease
Then I cleaned, conditioned, and replaced the seats.
Shout out to my husband who advised and helped throughout, and also to Lydia K's video from a few years ago, which helped me. Hopefully this helps someone else.

Thanks, when we bought ours the seats wouldn’t go forward, even with a big push. I’ll give this a shot.

Its wild this is the only video I could find on this. Low key listening to you list off power tools gave me ASMR

This has been incredibly helpful. My little guys have left all kinds of treats and snacks in there so I need to clean that out asap 🤢

Very helpful. I’m going to be sleeping in my car so the extra room will be nice.

Thank you so much! I just purchased a 2016 Chevy Traverse LS and they couldn’t get the seats working very well, so I want to try to attempt to fix them. Question….how do I remove the seats to get to the tracks? Thanks and Blessings.

Hi Janessa! I didn't disconnect the seats from the tracks. I loosened the 7 bolts described in this video, and my husband pulled each seat out of the vehicle, with the tracks still attached. I then cleaned out the tracks (with the seats still on). I'm not sure if it's possible (or attainable at least) to remove the seat from the track, but hopefully you won't have to anyway! I was able to get my seats sliding again without separating the seat from the track. Hope this helps!

What makes the seat get in that upright position so that you can remove the covers?
