i think its better to use F6 to create dynamic UCS..
But im not sure if this is applicable to Autocad Version 2012.

To pick centre point you dont need point filters . you need only OSNAP (object snapping)

Point filter is similar to tracking . But in 3D point filter is better than tracking...

Classic work space is no longer available. Use ribbon interface and get accustomed with it .

There may be small gaps or overlaps in the profile . Just create it once more . if its a polyline start from a point ,click the required points and give CLOSE option while connecting with the last point .
