To me it smells a lot like cloves actually. Cloves with a touch of vanilla- I really love the scent though, it’s very unique and deep.
It's lovely, recently had to sell my bottle but I will always love it.
When I smelled this yesterday, I was absolutely entranced by the juice. It reminded me a LOT of Dior Hypnotic Poison, with the slightly playdough-y vibe. However, where HP EDT on my skin left me very "meh", I fell in love with Addict. Will purchase a bottle soon for sure. It's a winter fragrance to me, especially since I live in Texas (where the summers here are scorching). Great review!
I used to think that too, until I bought a small vintage bottle from a woman and I tell u it’s the most beautiful hypnotic poison edt I have ever smelt . And I own an even even more vintage bottle and it’s not near as amazing as the 2002 bottle. Only thing that makes me sad is that it’s a 1.6oz bottle and I have to be careful how much I spray it. I never wanna be without it.
Yes! Just got addict and immediately I sniffed I was like.....hello! This smells like hypnotic poison😁 but heavier more alluring.
I have the 2002 version and I honestly don't think it's any weaker now. Dior just removed the green opening. The new one might tend to be stronger anyway because the 10+ year old bottles on eBay may have been improperly stored :) The 2014 bottle is perfectly amazing!
I think that the interesting bready smell comes from the type of vanilla they used. Maybe it's real absolute and not vanillin? The jasmine note is also incredibly authentic, just like a bush of the flowers in the summer. Jasmine grows well in this climate so I have a lot of experience with it :)
That's cool! I remember the original one just having more of a pronounced oriental feeling. I think all versions are great! :)
ouch110 Fragrance Reviews sure i wasn't trying to dispute your claim :) just I know some enthusiasts will lose sleep over always getting the pre reform version and in this case it's not worth it IMHO

There’s tonka in it, so don’t worry about genuine vintage bottle condition as long as it wasn’t stored at humid place or got exposed to sunlight. Tonka is a fixative, it will stabilize the juice for a very long time. If not making it even stronger. Same case with the hype of vintage Fève Délicieuse.
I've always been drawn to this fragrance, but the old version always got me a intense headache and made me nauseous for some reason, I loved the scent, but I couldn't stand it... unfortunately. I was soo excited when I tried this new version and didn't got a headache, I love it and wear it without any problems, bought it straight away! Gorgeous scent for these colder months ahead 👌🏻❤️

Got a bottle of the 2002 for dead cheap I think the seller didn't know what they had!!! Omg the sillage is monster and the scent divine I'm so happy its beyond but smells so similar to the 2014 just minus the sillage power.
That's a SCORE!! I hold the orginal formula of addict one of the best performing fragrances ever. :)
Absolutely adore this fragrance! I get the incense but not very strong. On my skin I get slammed with the jasmine and vanilla tho more jasmine for Atleast 3 hours. The heart of this is what captivates me, a spiced warm vanilla not too gourmand and not to beany. Love it love it. Great review sweety

I don't know but for some reason it smells very floral on me for the first hour and then the dry down is powdery vanilla.

It's kinda more woody and smoky than incense but yep..it's a goooood one!

ouch110 Fragrance Reviews yeah , but only a 20 ml with half left :( i think the 2002 is a touch spicer and full, the 2012 is a bit more creamy berries, and the 2014 is slightly more floral but its more like the 2002 in drydown :)

Another excellent review! I absolutely love this fragrance & I can't wait to buy it. It makes me feel carnal and beastly! You are right about the drydown too. It's a bit boring. I find it boring like Hypnotic Poison EDP. They're both amazing when freshly sprayed though.

Plz.do a review of Lancome's La Nuit. ! It's gorgeous... Also another great yummy one is ysl Black Opium Nuit Blanche. Better than the original Black Opium in my opinion. ! Even more gourmand.

I find this so strong that I have discovered that I need only one spray! Or better yet spray it in my clothes like two hours before I have to leave! I love it, just find it difficult to wear, esp in the office or other tight space.
I feel ya, this to me isn't an office fragrance it's more like a get ready and go out on the town fragrance! Like a DIVA! :)

The nose behind the 2014 version is not Thierry Wasser, it's Francois Demachy. The original 2002 formulation was by Thierry Wasser.

I finally own this perfume. Sephora online sells it and Sephora has a sale until tuesday. The Dior Addict in the store is the new one that I’m not crazy about. I love the 2014 version.

Yeah i don't think it smells like the description, theres definitely more spice to me; it seems go have a slight resembles to Givenchy Organza indecence on my skin for some reason, so im thinking there's cinnamon or nutmeg or something spicy in it lol. I love this scent its so different to everything thats on the market these days and lasts FOR EVA

Lovely I work for Dior and this was one of my first fragrances- would you know where I can possibly find the original formula? That was a favorite :) Have you tried the La Prive Collection from Dior?
The original I've seen on Ebay quite a bit. Te Privee line I have smelled a few, the one I really love is Feve Deliceeux. Ooooh it's lovely! On my want list hehe

Thanks!! Glad you liked the review. I don't think the reform is AS bad as some reforms. This one is strong no matter what, it's just the the original was nuclear in strength. :)

To me it's mostly cloves. I love cloves and I love the perfume. But I can't wear it because it wears me. 😞

I blind bought it and surprised that this is how vanilla supposed to smell like. It's strong, I even sneezed lmao. Definitely bold women perfume, not sweet young girls. I hated it on me but I can't stop sniffing my wrist and the inside of my elbow because it has a hint of rosey+vanilla+warm wood combined after 30 minutes. I've never worn it outside yet because I'm a hermit but if I wear it outside and someone says they love it, I'm gonna use it every day for sure. I want to say that it is that perfume where we smell it too strong on us, but for others they smell all the hidden notes and hints combined together creating this fresh, bold, and sultry fragrance.
So if you're girly girl who likes sweet floral scent, this is not for you.
For me since I hate it, but can't stop sniffing my wrist after, I think I'm attracted to myself but wants to deny it. 😂 Also it's hot where I come from so it might be different in your weather. But I read that it smells better in cold climate countries.

I had a bottle of this when it was originally released but I can't for the life of me remember how it smelled on me. I fell in love with YSL Nu which was released around the same time. Wonder what I did with the bottle...

No, LNT smells really different than BO. It’s not crazily sweet and thick like BO. At top you’ll get fruity chocolate compared to BO coffee and vanilla heavy cream opening.
I have both of these perfumes and La Nuit Tresor is stronger and lasts longer however I prefer A La Folie. smells really sweet and kinda powdery. so lovely. if you like LNT you will certainly like A La Folie

these are not the notes for the Dior addict 2014 there are only 4 notes I believe
I just got this. And this perfume is waaaaay overhyped. It's ok.but I don't love it enuff to pay the ridiculously high price.its just not worth it to me. Doesn't smell that great to me for the price. Someone at my job said it smelled old ladyish too. Not good.! La Nuit by Tresor is sooooo much better than this.and cheaper. !
Haha that's crazy that someone said it smelled old ladyish. Being a perfume lover I don't know what that means haha. This fragrance still smells way modern to me, it's like a crisp incensey wood smell. Lemme tell ya. people that are considered "old ladies" now ere deffo not wearing incense vanilla fragrances in their time. Everyone has different perceptions of perfume though so...each his own hey?

I tried wearing this in the summer and it made me feel sick to my stomach, with a headache.!! Way too much damn vanilla. We don't need that much darn Vanilla in a perfume. There are other things u can put in a perfume besides flippin Vanilla. ! Ridiculous. I will try n wear it in the cold months hopefully then it won't make me feel like throwing up. ! Hopefully. If not, then I shall give it away to a co-worker. Free.......

This perfume was a regretful buy. And the hypnotic poison too. I hate the incense in dior and the sandalwood in hypnotic poison. I might have to sell it for cheaper 😩

This smelled so good on my cousin so I bought it and ended up giving it away to my mom. I couldn’t get past the bad breath note. What is that note or note combination that makes it smell like a rotten tooth?!
It could be the skank of the white florals in the fragrance. :)

Hey there are no rules. But I would say that it probably is too heavy for summer, it's an intense woody vanilla. But I wear whatever...whenever really.

It doens't I'm afraid, Kenzo amour is almost a gourmand, kinda like hypnotic poison. This one is much more woody and sharp.

It's marketed towards women but I think anyone can pull it off, it's a dark woody vanilla.

Haha weird, it's probably up there with Dior's most potent fragrances. Alongside Hypnotic Poison and Poison.
Is this similar to Guerlain, Shalimar?
It's not at all really. This one is so much more woody! Shalimar is a fluffy resinous amber with lots of vanilla.
